Nice hotel
After having our bookings messed up by the travel agent we ended up in a sister hotel of the San Pietro - Hotel Caparena & Wellness Club. The place was awful and when asked where we could get any food were told the restaurant was closed but 'that we could do you some toast'! Anyway without much further hesitation we promotly checked out and went to the San Pietro. i have to say this was an inspired move as the hotel was great in just about all respects. The service, the location, the facilities and the breakfast. I would definately go... more
Really very interesting . . . .
Following a very dissapointing cancellation, we were placed in the Grand Hotel San Pietro. Firstly, the really good stuff. Hotel was kept in a beautiful, clean, airy condition. Superb cleaning staff made sure the rooms, bathrooms and lobby areas were attended to. High praise for this. Rooms and bathrooms well equiped, well laid out, and good materials used. Amazingly deep baths to get in and out of . . block and tackle required for a 'moose' like me !! Breakfast was absolutely first class. Good fresh breads, fruits,... more
Good,but could be better.
Recently returned from this hotel haven't spent 4nts there late October. The weather was fantastic and our trip to Etna was certainly worthwhile. Have spent many years travelling around parts of the world and invariably the main difference between hotels is the level of service. This was ok but bearing in mind occupancy was less than 40% you would expect this to be A1. The main problem was around the pool area and apart from the occassional glimpse of the pool guy service was non existant. He did't really look the... more
Great Hotel, service could be better
We reserved a seaside room and the room and view was fantastic. We had nightly turndown and fresh towels every night while we were out on the town in Taormina. The pool was very nice but was only open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. The one morning that we spent poolside the service from the lifeguard/towel boy/drink server was very poor. When we wanted to order a 6 euro beer he was nowhere to be found. Anytime we asked at the desk for assistance we were looked at like we were an inconvenience. We took the shuttle to their beach... more
Lovely hotel, but not so great for families
We really loved our stay at the Grand San Pietro. It is a new hotel and quite clean. Our room had a nice balconey with a sea view. Staff was friendly and professioanl. Breakfast was a large buffet. Be sure to try some of the yummy sparkling wine offered at breakfast. I do feel, however, that it isn't the best for families with small children. The hotel had more of a boutique hotel feel. Our kids kept getting shown to the ladder of the pool, clearly they weren't supposed to jump. My son walked into a cactus lining the walkway and got... more
top floor sea view
My husband and I have just returned from an excellent stay at the San Pietro. We booked a superior room with sea view and we were not disappointed. The ambiance of the hotel, exuding comfort and relaxation, helped to make our stay just what we wanted. Our only comment is that we wished we dined in the hotel more than once (our last night) as the food and service were first class. Compliments to all concerned.
Fantastico!
We stayed at the Grand Hotel San Pietro for 7 nights in August 06 and had a fantastic holiday. We loved both Taormina and the hotel. We booked directly with the hotel via their website and they also organised a taxi for us from the airport (Euro 80 each way). Room We paid for a superior room with front sea view and baloncy and got a really lovely room (412). The room was spacious, immaculately clean and decorated. It had a marble bathroom with bath and shower over. The balcony was really large with 2 comfortable sun chairs and... more
Awesome hotel!
The San Pietro was less than a ten minute walk from downtown Taormina (which is a beautiful town!). The staff was very helpful, the rooms were IMMACULATE, the food was incredible, and the view from or 6th floor room was astounding. I HIGHLY reccomend this hotel.
A wonderful place to stay
We spent a week in the Grand Hotel San Pietro and it was fabulous. This hotel is everything you would expect of a five star hotel. The Hotel is located on the seaward side of Taormina on a hill overlooking the bay. It's a little way out of the town centre, but a reasonably fit person can walk into town in 5-10 minutes, As it was very quiet when we arrived they upgraded us to a sea view. We had a very comfortable room and spacious room, a large and well equipped en suite and a balcony with a stunning view. All the staff were... more
