Prinsotel Alba is a hospitable hotel for children, adults, families and even a group of friends (we were the only one in the hotel)! This was made possible by a very good animation team. In particular, we want to thank Augustin, Anouschka and Barbara for ensuring us a nice stay!

We stayed at the apartments for a week and within that week we were not able to get a sunbed ...... at all!!!! Sunbeds were apparently released at 9.00am, this was obviously not the case, as we on two/three occassions, went round before that time and they had all gone. We... more

Brilliant apartments, fantastic location. Only 1 to 2 minute walk to the Cala Gran beach which is a small but beautiful cove beach. Not many watersports but the pedaloes were great! Also a short 10minute walk to the square which has loadsa fab restaurants and bars. Highly reccomended.

Worst holiday ever.
We had the misfortune to stay the the Alba for 2 weeks in August in a first floor room with pool view. The piped music started at 10 a.m. with the only peace from that ,and the tacky Butlins style entertainment ,was a couple of hours from 1-3 p.m. The entertainment finished at 12.00 p.m. but people stayed for hours after that and even in the pool in the early hours a couple of times. The Cha Cha slide and other similar songs played 3/4 times daily. The night-time noise from surrounding apartments was awful - chairs scraping on the tiled floors, patio doors and front doors slamming, kids crying - people running up and down the outside stairs and arriving and departing guests bumping luggage over every step - you could hear everything!! Self catering but had to ask reception for kettle and toaster and all we had in the way of cooking facilities were 3 electric rings - cooking was a challenge. Asked the rep and hotel staff if we could be moved after just 2 days but it took a whole week before we were finally moved to a 2nd floor apartment in the block over the road which was much quieter but still not perfect. The service in the pool bar was extremely slow and the food wasn't worth waiting for. Sunbeds had towels on them at 5 a.m. and some stayed there unoccupied for much of the day. Cala d'or harbour area was beautiful and we ate there many times - the chinese can be recommended - the best we ever tasted!!. The town itself had plenty of restaurants but many catered for the British tastes and also for the footie fans with many having huge tv screens. Cheeki Tiki cocktail bar was fantastic fun. Getting away from cala do'r we would recommend Sa Rapita beach in the south and Santanyi a small village with lots of character. Definitely won't be going to Cala d'or ever again but hopefully back to Peurto Pollensa next year!!
Prinsotel alba So-So
Just come back from Prinsotel Alba and have to disagree with the review written before. For a start off, the hotel was overbooked and told us they had to locate us in a hotel down the road for 2 days. I thought this was disgusting. They did however make us half board when we came back. Breakfast was fine but evening meal was bizarre- pig's hearts, pig's lungs, rabbit stew, bratwurst, veal etc. After eating chip butties or mundane plain pasta with watery sauce on, we decided not to bother with evening meal and eat out. We felt that the food was so obviously catered for the germans. This was mainly a german hotel with maids and waiters speaking to us in german. The apartments were clean although very basic- no kettle, toaster or even bottle opener. Only a select few had the privilege of overlooking the pool, ours overlooked a dirt track and other apartments looking in. We were however 2 min walk from the beach. Maid service was poor, they came every 3 days and emptied the bin, that was it. And entertainment consisted of bingo in 4 different languages, yawn!...The pool was small for 800+ apartments and was constantly filled with screeching children jumping in and out. We went in once and regretted it. I have stayed at better, and ok worse too. Won't be going back!
EXCELLENT!!!!
An excellent apartment complex hoghly recommended. We were a group of 9 that is 4 adults and 5 children aged 7 8 11 11 and 13 and they had an excellent time. The staff were friendly and always took the time to speak to you. The hotel was clean and tidy and the rooms were cleaned regually. The air conditioning was just perfect and the pool was clean. There was a life guard available every day and there was something going on all the time for all ages. I loved the location the beach was 5 mins walk and the town was 10mins walk. The main town was quite dirty and smelly and the looky looky men were all over the place but didnt really bother us too much. I would def go there again.
great apartments
Just returned from a 2 week holiday with my wife and 2 teenage children. We have stayed in cala dor before and know what a great place it is to holiday with its lovely marina, many beaches and great and varied places to eat. The apartments are spacious with usual facilities. The maids are in 6 days a week, with the pool area cleaned everyday. The gardens are also very well maintained. The entertainment staff were first class with a morning, afternoon and evening program. The sports included archary, rifle and pistol shooting, table tennis, water polo, water volleyball, beach volleyball, darts and pool. There was even a bouncy castle for the younger children. The staff put shows on at night or had professional artists. The food was good, well priced and the staff friendly. Overall we had no compliants and would gladly return.
Great for famillies with young children
I have just returned from my holiday at the Alba, I went there with my fiance we are both in our early twenties. We encountered no major problems while we were there. The apartment was a good size, when we arrived we found one of our cupboard doors was hanging off its hinges, but this was soon fixed. Our view from our balcony was overlooking a road, as were many apartments. Our floor also was covered in sand when we arrived so had to clean this ourselves. The pool area was good but very busy especially with over excited children, so for us who wanted to relax it was very noisy at times which was disturbing. To get a sunbed we had to set out alarm clocks very early as well. We were self catering but did try the buffet, there was a lot of choice and it was lovely but some of the 'hot' buffet was often cold. Entertainment most nights was enjoyable, there was a kids disco every evening and then adult entertainment form 2200hrs. The hotel is very close to the beach and resort centre which as great. I would recommend this hotel to famillies but definately not to young couples or older people, it is not a hotel to go to if you want to relax. However overall myself and my fiance both enjoyed our holiday
Great for Families
We have just returned from a very enjoyable stay at the Alba. We were slightly nervous having read some reviews before arrival, but must say were very impressed by the Alba. The apartments are sited 2 minutes walk from Cala Gran beach and 5-10 minutes from restaurants/shops of Cala Dor. The pool was perfect for the kids and a lifeguard was present for most of the day . There was a range of pool games going on throughout the day for both the children and adults. Although some people found it necessary to reserve the sunbeds at some ungodly hour, there appeared to be no shortage of beds as we always managed to find them when we arrived various times during the day. We had a one bedroomed apartment which was perfect and spacious for 2 adults and 2 children aged 7 & 10. The only thing I would advise is that for some reason you have to request kettles/toasters and remote control for TV from reception. These are free with a small deposit and it is best to order these when you arrive as by the time we got around to it, they took 3 days to arrive in our apartment! There was also no oven or grill and as we were self-catering this was an inconvenience. Having said that we encountered no problems at the Alba and found the staff friendly and helpful and would highly recommend the Alba, especially for families with children.
Excellent for kids and familys
Booked last minute and didn't expect anything near the quality of accommodation we got. A very good 3 star rating. Maids in every day (except sunday). Pool area spotless and very good for younger and older kids. Entertainment staff couldn't do anymore to entertain the kids and adults from first thing in the morning until last thing at night. They played a big part in us enjoying the holiday as we had so much time to relax with them keeping the kids entertained( kids aged 5 & 11). Location of the hotel is excellent 3 minutes walk to beach and 10 minutes from the centre of the resort. All in all we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the alba and would go back there in a minute.
enojyed alba apartments very much
I enjoyed our holiday in the Alba Cala D'or very much, the apartments were very clean & maid service was around 2 times per week. The walls did seem very thin though you cud hear your neighbours even having a conversation you could hear every word, this wud be awful if you had very noisy neighbours... The Pool was the best I'd ever had it was a very nice pool & ideal for children.. I wud use the apartments again but I wudn't go peak weeks I wud only go if it was the quieter months... I have enclosed a pic of the lovely pool....
hated the alba
worst holiday ever don't go to these apartments if you want a good holiday. cleaning well below standard also poor service from staff at pool bar when trying to order anything from food to drinks .the pool area was not kept clean cups and saucers lay for three days before somebody lifted them entertainment very poor. if you wanted a lounger at poolside you had to up before the germans before five am every morning to get one. warning if going selfcatering you have to hire a kettle plus poolside bar only serves food between 12.30pm to 2.00 pm
Great place for small children
We have just returned from a weeks holiday at these apartments. The apartments were clean and well maintained. THe staff employed to keep the children amused were absolutly fabulous. Benjiman deserves a special mention for the time and energy he put into ensuring all the children had fun even though the weather was bad. I would definately go back to these apartments as they were well run and kept to a very high standard! A great place to take small children and I would highly reccomend it!
