After two weeks self catering in Martha's we were sad to leave. If you can get a sea view for no extra cost like we did, do so, because the views are breathtaking of the Mediterranean.

We found being self catering really relaxing, coming and going as and when you please. There was a large supermarket called Eroski (really good value) and cartons of wine were as little as 50$! This is where we got all our food from just for breakfast and a few bits and bobs for dinner.

On an evening, you our spoilt for choice on where to eat. We ate at a different restaurant every night and still we never managed to eat at all of them. There is a Yates in Cala Egos and an English fish 'n' chip shop (the chips were yummy!)There is also an Indian and Chinese restaurant. Watch out for the Lucky Lucky Man, he wants your money! For Sunday dinner we tried ''The Corner'' which is on the same street as Martha's, they do great roast beef! If you wanted, you wouldn't have to leave Martha's because there’s a restaurant and pizzeria and the nightly entertainment is great but so annoying when spoken in 4 different languages.

We stayed in a studio apartment which was big enough for the two of us. It seemed they had concentrated on the refurb of the bathroom (excellent power showers, very modern) as the rest of the apartment, although clean, seemed a little tired.

If you like the pool, you need to be up early (around 8:45 ish). There would be no site of the Germans, just there towels which they reserved the sun beds with at 4 o clock in the morning. There are 2 beaches in Cala Egos, both small coves, which If you like long stretched beaches, these aren't for you. They tended to get extremely over crowded during the height of the season.

There are plenty of excursions to go on. The Glass Bottomed Boat was interesting, and Cala Mondrago has the best beach and sea by far! It has to be the longest stretch of beach around the east coast. The turquoise waters are a must! I would recommend Western Water Park in Magaluf, its a great day out for the adults and the kids. Beware, the floor gets extremely hot when you’re walking round.

The maid service was average, they did come in twice a week to change the sheets. They appeared to spend the longest time cleaning when we finished our holiday. The beds were comfy, you do only get one pillow each though. The satellite television was mainly biased to our friends again, the Germans. All we had was ITV3 and sky news.

Overall, we came away very positive about our holiday and we couldn't fault the weather (thank god for the air con!) Our tour operators were great and very helpful. Martha's reception staff probably provided the best customer service out of the whole site. I would say a little different for the restaurant staff.

I actually stayed at Club Marthas (cala egos/cala d'or) in July 2004. I found this site whilst I was looking up reviews for Alcudia, where I am due to visit on 28/8/06 as I love the Balearics.

I have to disagree with the bad reviews, as I thought Club Marthas was in fact very nice, the staff were polite-albeit very busy, so if they came across as rude it was possibly because like us, they have a job to do and it can be annoying when they see hundreds of families arrive every day with the same problems and all wanting to be attended to.

I stayed for one week and as we are all a little too old for the kiddy’s entertainment, though we did watch the bee gee's tribute group to take the p*** and we still found the surrounding areas were adequate for people of all ages to enjoy an evening out.

The only thing I would suggest to the staff is that when they started up with the morning entertainment, it was 10am every day, playing the same annoying football song, (I feel agitated whenever I hear it now) and a woman would start shouting on the microphone in a "good morning campers" fashion, which really got on our nerves being a family that likes a lie-in on holidays!

We also had a problem in getting sun beds by the pool after 11am like any holiday accommodation, but the apartment we had did have a big balcony with two sun beds on it so we could sunbathe in the buff if we chose to do so(not that we did because of the neighbours!) In any case, everybody's different and if the hotel had more Germans one week I'm sure it would not matter, seeing as they do get up earlier than the British, just to put out a towel to claim a ruddy sun bed.

Arrived to find that the hotel was over booked and only studio apartments were available. These consist of two sofas (not of the fold-out variety) and because we have a daughter we were left a fold up bed (this needed furniture to be removed from the small room by us to unfold it). As we dared complain about this situation we were confronted by an aggressive duty manageress (her reputation was widely known around the hotel) who said if we didn’t like the situation then we should contact our holiday rep.

This is fine if the holiday rep was onsite but they are harder to find that Hotel Martha cleaners (the rooms are cleaned, well the towels changed and the beds made-only twice a week). This policy of putting new arrivals in studio flats rather than the apartments they had paid for affected nearly all new arrivals that we spoke too during our stay from all countries. As the studio flats are sub-standard it seems the only way to keep then occupied is to force guests to stay in them. We eventually were moved. On waking up at 9am on the first day we found that as the majority of the hotel guests are German there was very little chance of finding a sun lounger without a towel over it (no Germans just towels).

The family entertainment is again focused more towards the majority of German and Dutch guests than English. This seemed to confuse the younger children who struggled to distinguish between the entertainers bad English and other languages. Overall the hotel is situated in a great location that is not overly-commercialised and is within easy access of several marinas and beaches. However, the lack of respect by the management for hotel guests leaves you constantly battling to try and get things that other hotels offer as standard.

What a disappointment! I have to agree with the earlier review that this is not a 4*/diamond/T rating property. Thomas Cook really need to review their rating on this property.

We arrived in the small hours to be shown to our room by a grumpy receptionist however, there was no air con as it had broken down. The room was spacious, but in dreadful need of updating and it smelt really musty. The whole complex is a little 'tired' and the pool up at the Cases D’Or section (which is quieter - also salt water) is in need of a good clean and repair.

We asked for a room change only to be told that they were fully booked, we asked Thomas Cook to intervene only to be told that we could be moved hotel if we coughed up £1600!

In my opinion the complex is much too large and there seems to be a 'get them in as fast as possible, get as much money out of them and ship them out just as fast' attitude. The courtesy room for day of check out was inadequate with far too many cases being left in there. Club Marthas seems to cater well for the young family market who want a lively break, so if you are looking for a 4* relaxing, chill out - this is not for you!

As for the food in the 'buffet' restaurant - abysmal is the best description. We did cotton onto the fact that we could swap meals in the buffet for Marthas Euro Vouchers to use in the pizza/cafe so that we could have freshly cooked food.

Needless to say I wouldn't return to this hotel, however the surrounding area of Cala Egos and nearby Cala D’Or were superb, with a good selection of restaurants/bars/shops.

We stayed at the Club Marthas from the 27th May - 3rd June 2006.

This was our first abroad holiday with two children (5 & 18 months), we had a fantastic time at the complex, the staff are all very friendly and the apartments clean. The entertainments team worked very hard and there was something to do for everybody. The food and service was good.

The complex is well positioned just a few minutes walk from the beach and Cala Egos with its bars, restaurants and shops. We have already booked to for next Mat for 2 weeks. I would recommend this complex to anybody.

Have just arrived back from 2 weeks at Club Martha's. After spending last year based at the La Mirada which is located across the road from Martha's and spending every night at Martha's we decided to give the hotel a try this year.

We where not to be disappointed. The complex contains everything anybody with a family could ever need with an entertainment team that you would be hard to find better any where in the world.

They start at 11.00 am with activities for everyone from the ages of toddlers upwards giving mums and dads enough time to relax. This is repeated again at 3.00pm and 4.00 pm with activities changing on a daily basis. The day is finished of with a show put on by the staff and based on the fact that these people are not professional dancers or singers the quality of the performances was first class. I cannot give this team enough praise.

The rooms where spotless and kept this way by a first class team of cleaners. Rooms where spacious with all the necessary equipment needed for an enjoyable stay. We will be booking again very soon for our next years stay.

Just returned from Club Marthas with my wife and 2 kids (7&4). The whole holiday went like clockwork from leaving the plane at Palma. Picked hire car up and 40 minutes later we arrived at the hotel. Checked into hotel by friendly staff where our room was ready straight away.

The room was on the top floor of the centre block of apartments (best in complex we reckoned) and was perfectly adequate for our needs. (Considering the cost)

The staff working for Marthas were excellent and always had a smile which put you in a good mood for the day. The entertainment staff were very good indeed and put together some great shows in the evenings as well as taking care of the sports programme and kids club in the day.

Pools were spotless and there were plenty of sun beds (that said my wife enjoyed beating the Germans at there own game!)

To cut it short our experience of Marthas was like all the other reviews below this one (apart from the unfortunate moaning veggie (you would have fit in the molly club well) which was 10 out of 10!

We booked the hotel on the strength of these reviews and like the majority will be returning next year!

All these people can’t be wrong can they!?

Just book it!

This is a great family hotel, great entertainment, great staff and a lovely atmosphere. There is a mixture of nationalities at Marthas which only added to our enjoyment as the Dutch and German guests were a good laugh during the World Cup matches.

The rooms were spacious and clean. We booked a studio and one bed apartment which had a connecting door which was good! We booked direct with the hotel and it was very easy to do through their website. They could not do enough to help us!

My three year old loved the pools which had plenty of sun beds and places to sunbathe and were impeccably clean and well maintained. My 14 year old loved the entertainment in the evenings. There is lots of entertainment all day long for adults and children alike, from archery and shooting to volleyball and football.

The entertainment team are excellent and seemed to love every minute of their job. They organise all the activities as well as put on great shows in the evenings.

The food was good in the restaurants and the pizzeria was brilliant. All in all we loved it and would definitely go back. Maybe not the best place for people who want to get away from kids but there were couples there without kids who loved the place!

Club Marthas is a 3* hotel, not 4*. We arrived at 1am, and went to our ground floor studio to find the room was already occupied, by ants. I asked to be moved, but was told this was not possible as no other studio rooms were available till possibly the next day, but we weren't guaranteed to get one. I asked whether another room could be offered for one night - i.e. a room for 4, but no.

A maintenance man came out right away, and sprayed near where the ants were coming in, but as there was a hole in the wall this was not going to stop them. We had a restless night, and the apartment was full of ants in the morning. We went straight back to reception, and asked to be moved, but told, not possible, but not to worry as the problem would be sorted that morning. We went out until 3pm, to come back and find no one had been.

Back to reception we went, spoke to someone else this time and were promptly moved up one level. A couple of days later we saw someone else was put in that room, but they only lasted one night.

The complex is large, and really aimed at kids. For anyone who is going soon, look forward to "molly club molly club, molly, molly, molly, club....". You will know what I mean. Twice a day, every day! There is also a very loud tannoy system to announce the daily activities. We never ate at the hotel, as I'm veggie and they didn't really offer anything except pizza for me.

The cleaning is not cleaning by anyone's standards. If changing the sheets on the beds and the towels is cleaning, then great. Bins weren't emptied, toilet roll was not replenished, floor was not swept, I can go on.

The positioning of the resort was ideal, just off the main street in Cala Egos, and really close to Cala D'or.

The resort was okay, but I wouldn't return, though I would return to Cala Egos.

What can say! AMAZING, FABULOUS, WONDERFUL, place! It is the best holiday myself, my husband and 3 year old have ever had. It is definitely worth giving it 10 out of 10 and we cannot wait to go back there!!!!

Apartments were wonderful - we were self catering and had a double bedroom and separate lounge and kitchen area. There was a large foam sofa with foam mattresses that pulled off so we had a mattress on the floor of our bedroom for our son - which was ideal really. It had a colour TV, fridge, two ring cooker - was told we could hire a microwave / toaster / kettle from reception for a small charge and when we asked for them they were bought to us for free as we travelled with Thompson! Excellent! Apartment also had a terrific power shower! A Balcony with a patio table and two chairs and two sun lounges (and a drying rail!). On the whole it was very spacious and clean.

The hotel had 3 pools - the splash pool was great for our 3 year old, one huge lagoon shape one and a normal one through a little walkway on the complex. There were plenty of loungers and parasols and the weather was fantastic when we were there in June - about 25 -27 degrees C.

The resort of Cala Egos is literally about 100 yards left from the hotels front entrance, lovely shops and restaurants and a few bars (including a Yates!), nothing to rough and noisy - perfect for families, hence there were many Dutch and German visitors with young children and pushchairs etc. Taxi to the centre of Cala D'Or is about 5 minutes and cost about 5 euros. The beach in Cala Egos is very narrow but goes back a long way so you need binoculars to see the sea if you are at the far end of the beach! lol.

Good facilities though, showers and toilets, fruit sellers etc.. and we didn't mind because we are more pool people anyway. There was a beach shop nearby which sold parasols, lilos and accessories, kiddies beach toys and suchlike at very reasonable prices. This was found next to a Spar supermarket which was very popular and fairly cheap and sold everything imaginable - including jars of Heinz baby food! Brilliant for families!

All in all this holiday was fantastic! So much to see and do (didn’t even manage to go on the Cala D'Or Express train!). We went for a week and just ran out of time! The Marthas evening shows were great too.. Mamma Mia, Disney Tribute Show, Elvis Live Tributes Show.. they were all 5*!

We cant wait to got back this June..

Fantastic place, best complex/apartment I have ever stayed in, was perfectly clean and safe. Apartments had everything you could need, balconies were good size, I stayed on the 3rd floor at the top of the complex and had 180deg sea views, was so lovely watching the yachts sailing by whilst eating croissants in the morning! Only downside I would say is the pillows are not very comfortable!

Power showers are great and bathrooms spotless. Resort of Cala Egos is just right, a few shops, great supermarket at back of Marthas, some amazing restaurants....try Taberna Blanca, food is wonderful and so cheap...and say hi to the owner and his Boxer dog! Beaches are really clean and sea is clear and an amazing colour, the fruit seller’s pineapple is a must have!

Few nice bars around and the boats at the marina at Cala D'or are amazing, and Cala Longa beach is another nice place to sunbathe. Weather was great even at the end of Sept, was a lovely relaxing place to be. All in all it is a perfect place, lots of young, middle-aged and older couples and young families. I would feel safe to even go alone for a few weeks. Thoroughly recommended!!!

I have to say I thought the hotel, staff and the in house entertainers were brilliant, they gave you a feeling of cant wait to come again.

The rooms were kept clean and it was always service with a smile.

I will be visiting them all again as soon as I can.

The hotel has 3 swimming pools a pizzeria 3 bars and there is lots to do with different sporting events every day provided by the entertainers.

We have just returned from a great week in club Martha’s, the weather was great the complex was more then I could of expected, we took our 12 yr old daughter, and she didn’t want to leave the complex, all she wanted to do was use the pools, and go to the shows at night, the short walk to cal a dor marina is well worth it, just to see how the other half live, the boats are out of this world.

The three beaches we went to around cala egos and cala dor are clean and not to crowded, the water is shallow so you can wade right out, and the colour of the water is unbelievable, the restaurants and bars around the complex are excellent, the food is top class in all the restaurants we tried, the only down I could say that the area is very quiet, every one seems to go to bed early, but if you have young family that’s fine, not a lot going on late, the club at Martha’s stays open but nobody went there.

We were alone there some nights, but I suppose in the height of season it would be a lot busier, we had a lovely time and would definitely go back again.

Club Marthas overall is a very nice complex. The 1 bedroom apartments are very nice and the balconies are fantastic. They are also very clean as well as the complex itself. There is 3 pools all together, and all very nice to swim in.

Eating out there is a massive choice for variety from British to Italian and even Indian. Overall I would definitely come back here.

I would recommend this for families with younger children.

This was our 10th time to Martha’s and we were just as excited as our first visit!

We arrived and it was extremely hot. We requested our usual room but due to the complex being full we were put in another part of the complex for a few days. We ate lunch on the restaurant on site for a snack but settled in very quickly because of the atmosphere.

There are 3 main pools on the complex, one being a private pool which is a bit quieter in another part of the complex, the main pool which has a waterfall and a shallow pool above. There is also another good size pool with sunbed space as well where you are near the terrace and bar area.

The entertainment there is also excellent. It is run by multi-lingual people who speak Dutch, German, English and even Danish. There are clubs for all ages to participate in the day. There is the molly club which is for 4-12 and has theme days, thee is the maxi’s that are for 8-12 years and they do more sports. Then there are the teenagers and adults.

The entertainment starts at 11:00 for an 1hour or so and then continues at 15:00 and 16:00. Some of the entertainment includes archery, football, volleyball, waterpolo, tennis tournaments and much more. It also continues in the evening starting at 20:3 for the molly disco which is for children where they can dance and have lots of fun. It is then followed by a very entertaining show at 22:00 which rotated on 1 day programme. Some of the best shows were Grease, Moulin Rouge, A tribute to Disney show and American street life. There were also Spanish singers who came in and tributes to Madonna and Elvis.

During the day time if you were less active and wanted a more relaxing style holiday then you could spend your day on the sun loungers (which there are plenty of) around the pool or in your garden or balcony.

The complex in general is kept very clean however they do use the jet-sprayers once in the fortnight, which are quite noisy!

If you would also like to get out and about then there are trips organised but if you book early in the season we’d say the best option would be to hire out a car. It gives you the freedom of going where you want when you want to and you don’t have to wait for a taxi! Places we recommend you’d go to our es trenc beach which is a long white sandy beach, El corte ingles in Palma which is great for shopping and El Arenal water park which we think is definitely the best out of the three on selection. There are also markets where you can get a bargain but remember to check the days as Porto colom market only happens once a week.

Cala D'or is also a 5 minute drive away where there is more nightlife. There is also the marina which is pleasant to walk round in the evening (as long as your not in high heels!) Also by Martha’s there are some rocks nearby which give you beautiful views of the sea and if you request a room you might even have a sea view from your balcony.

There are also places to eat which are just outside the complex. There are quite a small variety to choose from but a few are very nice and serve great food.

We would say the best point is that Martha’s is a very safe place for children. The staff are friendly as well. The rooms are cleaned every other day.

We would definitely recommend that you find a hotel you like a book directly. It is so much cheaper than booking with a tour operator and saves a few hundred pounds. We have been flying with easy jet the past 3 - 4 times and it is fine for flying to Palma. From there we just go in one of the many taxi’s outside the airport!

We would definitely recommend Martha’s for a fun, exciting family holiday!
