Eden House

Like a previous reviewer - I cannot belive that this place has had so many glowing reports ( surely something a little untoward??) My experience of one night at the Eden House was probably one of the most ghastly I've ever had in an hotel. We booked a double room with en-suite shower and was given a room on the second floor. The room was so small that the bed partially blocked entrance through the door. The WC was in the tiniest closet imaginable. We have just returned from a week at Eden House and can't wait to go back. My wife and I were married in Key West this week and Eden House was a great place for a romantic stay. Mike and his staff(Carlos was a great help) made our stay wonderful and our room was nicely laid out and immaculate. The pool, spa and beautifully landscaped grounds really give you the feel of Old Key West. Located a short walk from Duval St. and and many fine eateries, Eden House will be our sanctuary on our next visit to Key West.

We were planning to stay at a "chain" hotel and my daughter insisted that we get the true Key West experience and stay at a guest style house - so we booked with some trepidation not really knowing what to expect. However, any worries were unfounded. Their website is a good one with lots of pertinent information. We enjoyed three days at Eden house, just prior to Christmas this year. The staff were very friendly and provided good advice on things to do and see. The location of the hotel is perfect for sightseeing, without being too close to Duval. The small feel of the hotel added a comfortable feeling to our stay. The pool and the hot tub as well as the common areas are well laid out to permit enjoyment of the Key West weather. My wife, our 1 yr old daughter and I visited Key West over this past Christmas and decided to stay at the Eden House based on the reviews on this website. I must say I can't understand what the basis is for the great press about Eden House. Our room, an 'apartment', was extremely underwhelming. The best way to describe it is as a makeshift college apartment, the bathroom was separated from our bed area by a small curtain; the list of inadequacies is long and I don't want to bore. I just stayed at The Eden House for a second time, and it was again fantastic. I am however shocked to see that some other guests that have written reviews on this site have given less then 5 stars. I think some people just can't wait to complain about anything. For shame. Took my wife to Eden House for Thanksgiving getaway. Wasn't sure what to expect. Found place to be extremely clean and in good location not too far from attractions. Rooms, although small, were very nice; besides who spends a lot of time in the room. Highly recommended.

Just got back from Eden House and want to rave about it. I was a bit worried about booking in an "older" place since we usually stay in modern, chain hotels and have had a couple of bad experiences with the older places. Not to worry. The place was immaculate, bath was modern, bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in--including my own. We loved the three private porches with our apartment--one with chair hammock swing. From the moment we walked into the Eden House, we knew that we made the right decision. We were greeted with genuine friendliness and great service. We stayed in room 201 which was a nice size for our getaway. The room had 2 entrances that opened out onto porches. One had a porch swing and the other a couple of chairs and a table (as well as access to the pool area). The room was large, clean and serviced every day. My husband and I were looking for the perfect place to enjoy the laid back atmosphere of Key West. Well we found it and more in the EDEN HOUSE! From the initial greeting and check in with Maggie (who is so great, friendly & seems happy all the time!) to the check out we had a WONDERFUL experience.
