Dolphin Bay Resort

We stayed here in one of the 3 bed apartments and it was VAST. The kitchen is an added bonus although the restaurant is so cheap we didn't cook. The pool was good and there was another one right outside our front door. The beach wasn't brilliant and we were bitten by something while on there. The staff were friendly. The hotel is one of a few scattered on the beach front and is quite isolated, nearest town is nearly 1 hours drive.

We stayed for 5 days at Dolphin Bay and thought it was excellent. The main attraction is the three pools, slides and other water features. This kept our kids busy for about 6 hours everyday. There were plenty of other kids there and immediate friendships were made. It has a mixture of visitors - some from overseas and some from Bangkok, but it must be 90% western families with children aged under 10. We booked through Sawadee website and trusted several positive reviews we found there and on TripAdvisor. They were right! This place is excellent value for money, particularly for a family with small children. The playground kept our kids happy for hour after hour and the beach is only a short walk through the resort itself. We stayed 5 nights just after the new year holiday. The place is a bit out of the way which means there are not many alternatives for eating / drinking / shopping. But the rooms were excellent value for money (spacious but not overtly luxurious), the grounds which include two pools were very good and a short hop across the nearly deserted road, gave you access to a km's long beach. The hotel is located about 40 minutes drive south of Hua Hin, which was initially a bit of a shock, there are a small group of houses and low rise hotels along a quiet strip of beach. This turned out to be a little paradise for us. There are enough small eateries and hotels around so you can get out and experience different things. It also felt very safe to us. We have just returned from our first trip to Dolphin Bay. The facilities were very good for the price. We stayed in room 38, which is a 1-bedroom apartment, so you get a sofa and small cooking area as well as a bedroom. Although fading a little, the rooms were spotlessly clean, the resort has 2 lovely pools and a large garden complete with swings and a wendy house for the kids. My wife, mother-in-law, daughter and myself had a very nice one-night stay at the Dolphin. We liked that the Dolphin was very much children-oriented.... large nice grassy area for the kids to run and play, play buildings, swings and two large pools. Plenty of kids items on the menu of the restaurant as well. I must say that the restaurant really surprised us with such a large selection of items! It's not a fancy or luxurious place, just clean and comfortable 3-star but it gets my top rating due to being a great value. For about $35/night you get a quiet location on a nice beach. My kids love the pools, especially the small waterslide. The hotel's casual open-air restaurant is above average. The isolated location (about 1/2 hour from Hua Hin town) means this hotel is best suited to those who like to spend their days by the pool or on the beach, but are not concerned with nightlife, shopping, or lots of nearly restaurant options.

I stayed here together with my wife and 3 children for 5 nights and really thought they offered great value for money. Cheaper than the other main resort in Pranburi (which is 30km south of Hua Hin), Dolphin Bay is a family oriented resort with lots going for it. I've just returned from holiday in Thailand, 5 days of which were spent at the beautiful Dolphin Bay resort in the Sam Roi Yod National Park. I should say straight off that this is a very quiet and peaceful place perfect for getting away from it all, but would not suit anyone looking for a more lively destination. Dolphin Bay is a four hour car trip from Bangkok airport, but well worth the effort.
