Beautiful - completely under-used hotel - under junior management
Very strange place - but we loved it! Strange because there was hardly anyone there! - 15km from Nha Trang... you have to get a taxi there. A full resort - 3 restaurants (the main one is awful and amatuerish - but the others are okay). Private beach with free equipment. Huge amazing pool with bar. FUN PARK! - nightclub... all for £34 a night! (expedia). But we still dont understand why there was hardly anyone there, or why we got it for so cheap?! I extended our stay for an extra night - but had to do it on expedia for the... more
5 star facilities - very quiet
Diamond Bay has all the makings of a 5 star hotel, stunning location, fantastic rooms (although no directory in room) and great staff! We travelled with 4 yr old and 3 month old staying 3 nights in a twin room. The room was really good, modern, all amenities and a nice little deck. The big big pool was a great highlight for our 4 year old! Must note we felt like we were almost alone there as there seemed very few guests, however staff were always attentive and kind. Positives - facilities/grounds/staff/amazing apple... more
a diamond in the rough
My partner and I stayed at the Diamond Bay for 4Nights. The first night we stayed in a superior garden view, we didnt like it. We couldnt sleep with the aircon blowing straight onto our faces, you can hear everything outside specially starting 7am, and due to room design there are slits in the walls that make the room very bright as soon as the sun goes up. Good energy saving design, but for those who want to sleep-in during their holiday, this isnt the room you want to be in. We complained and they offered us a discounted rate at the... more
Great Getaway - Far from the madding crowd
My wife and I stayed for 2 nights at Diamond Bay Resort during 14-15 Feb 2009. It was a wonderful stay and especially serene! We had called up the ex-General Manager, Tony Shepherd, who assured us of a pleasant stay and gave us a good deal for our stay. Since it was our first visit to Vietnam, we were especially glad to have an English speaker address our apprehensions. Our luxury started the moment we landed at the small Nha Trang airport. There were two people to receive us right at the terminal and asked for our baggage tags... more
Beautiful pool, comfortable villa, wonderful view...,
We stayed 12 nights from late Dec 2008 in a beautifully appointed poolside villa overlooking the Sth China Sea. Our days were spent swimming at the beach, reading in the poolside cabana & dips in the huge, fabulous pool. The gym was nearby & well fitted out, which we utilised & also thoroughly enjoyed the newly opened Spa with its fantastical gardens & high standard facilities. Breakfast was provided in a large open airy pavilion with a great variety of food with friendly service. What is lacking is an intimate beach-side... more
Good Resort
This place is HUGE! It's easy to get lost in the colossal resort and spa! The grounds and rooms are very nice and were a really great deal when I was there in January of 09. I paid about 85 a night and my room was very nice. Nice big, marble shower, beautiful veranda. They have a private, secluded beach which is sheltered from the roaring tides which makes swimming easier than in other places along the coast. One downside is the extremely slow service. I found service very slow everywhere in Vietnam but I think it was the worst here.... more
Thumbs up for Diamond Bay
Location: Diamond Bay Resort and Spa, Nha Trang, Vietnam Date: December 26, 2008 Recently we spent three nights at the Diamond Bay Resort and Spa in Nha Trang. Before I left on our trip, I was a little unsure whether the resort was going to the right one. I had read that it was incomplete. I had a few misgivings. I have never written a review of a resort, but feel very strongly, for many reasons, about recommending Diamond Bay. First of all, it was beautiful and the accommodations are absolutely first class. Very large,... more
Unprofessional, uncomforable, unfinished. Nice pool!
This hotel / resort was built for Miss Universe 2008 and the work put in to get it ready was amazing, but they never quite made it and gave up afterwards. Clearly the most important thing to complete was the Crown Convention Center across the road, which was used for the show and televised around the World. The food in Diamond Bay was shocking, like low-end Vietnamese canteen standard. The pathways and gardens were strewn with litter that was buried into tree-roots and under bushes, must have been from the builders and was never... more
Management response from AUSSIETONY

This review goes back a few months, although dated November.2008 i feel it was July the Guest stayed. The owners have now appointed an Australian GM with 20 years in International Hotels, we have come a long way since Miss Universe, a new Spa has been Built, along with new Reception, and F&B outlets, now located in the centre of the operation, I can assure future Guests, that they will experience, an improved service standard, better facilities, more comfort, professional, Managment and I prefer to put us in a soft opening position, whilst not a construction site as such, we have taken out rooms not up to standard, and are repairing/refurbishing them. At the risk of being biasd, I have worked in Asia for 10 years, and i find the food enjoyable, yes it can always be improved on, but it is tasty, fresh, and hygenic, I am working on the staff english, yes it is not good, and I intend to appoint a full time experienced English Tteacher, after all i need to communicate with tour staff as well as guests, and Vice versa Don't judge us on a 3 week event, we have come a long way, believe me Tony Shepherd General Manager 27/11/08

Not even close to ready!
I was selected to be one of the first, along with a few coworkers to test out this hotel prior to the Miss Universe contestant’s arriving for their two weeks stay. We were the first to in some cases to turn on the AC, TV, or even to turn on a water faucet. Keeping that in mind we tried to be understanding about the inevitable problems. The real problem with this hotel is not the cosmetic issues, which could be fixed by shutting the property down for a while and addressing them one at a time. The real problem is management. This... more
Management response from AUSSIETONY

July was the month that we Hosted Miss Universe, That is now long gone, the issues with the Resort operation are being corrected, I have been appointed as General manager, I am an Australian with 20 years International Hotel Experience, we have come a long way since July, our resort is continuing to undergo, fine tuning in the 342 guest rooms, however, we have taken out thoise that are in need of improving. The Spa opens early december, a tempory one is currently in operation, and is very enjoyable, an hawaiian trained Guy is the Manager, You will see we have improved, don't be turned off, This Resort is only 10 mins by car to Nha Trang City, we offer frre transferes 4 times a day last at 6pm bring back at 9.30 pm Don't be convinced by reviews of a rushed opening there were mistakes, and the best in the world make mistakes Tony Shepherd General Manager

stay away from this property
I wanted to stay at this property after I saw the hotel on tv thru Miss Universe. I was very upset with my stay. The property does not have a white beach as stated, in fact the beach is a 10 minute walk from the hotel and where many local go. The room were ok, but many flaws, things did not work and staff did not speak english at all. they were confuse and could not help my needs. The resturant food was worse than a local take out place and well over price. There is no activity on the property and nothing to do other than stay in your... more
