Bayview Hotel Langkawi

The hotel is ideally placed for shops within the Langkawi town, but that is its only plus point. The receptionists were unsmiling, unhelpful and for the most part, everything was try tomorrow. Breakfast was terrible, room-service dire and the room dirty, and in need of renovation. I would not recommend this place at all. Langkawi is beautiful, but go North to one of the resort hotels.

Had to stay at Bayview as most resort hotels were unavailable duo to short notice. We requested a deluxe seaview room with king bed but got twin beds instead as they were out of king bed room. Room was average with a nice sea and jetty view. Nothing exceptional. We tried the diner buffet on the 1st night as it was too late to go out. City Bayview is a bit run down, but very clean. My only concern is that this hotel is quite a distance from the main beaches. Next time I would rent a small beach house directly on the Cenang Beach for approx. 120 RM per night. This hotel is right next to a market area. The shops are filled with the same types of souvenirs. We don't really like resort hotels so decided to stay in Kuah itself, and drive around. The staff at this hotel were very kind, but fortunately we both speak Malay so we could avoid some slight misunderstandings. The food can be monotonous, but local dishes are well cooked and very tasty. The location is ideal, although Kuah is small, but a short taxi ride will get you to many places. I enjoy staying at this hotel because it is situated at a strategic place that is at the heart of langkawi and all the facilities are good and excellent.

We decided to stay at the hotel after browsing the internet and peek at the guest reviews. Our room was a superior room/hillview and my kids love it though we can only see the hill from our window. IT was a clean and well maintained room.The hotel staffs was polite and friendly too. The food was good. Good location since near shopping area and at night you can go to night market ( only certain days ).

My friend and I travelled to Langkawi on 14 aug 06 after spending wonderful days in Hong Kong and Singapore and Kuala Lumpur as we were doing a few hops around asia. We booked The City Bayview Hotel on Langkawi on the net , including airport tranfers and breakfasts x 2 for RM200 for a delux room per night , staying three nights at the end of April 2006 . The rooms are gigantic by modern hotel standards. The finishes however are worn out although not yet shabby. But the budget price is just fantastic. With free buffet breakfast including most western eggs 'n' bacon dishes and oriental noodles 'n' stir fried dishes, this hotel is great value for money. Friendly reception staff cater mostly to locals and a handful of independent travellers.

This is one of the best places to stay in Langkawi!!! Get a room with the Ocean view if you can try and get Room 1331. The view is absolutely great. The hotel staff was very pleasant and professional and in a good location easily accessible to most of the attractions you could want to see...and thare are many...except for the big bird!!!
