Chelsea House Pool & Gardens

My husband, 18 year old son and I spent 2 nights here. We thought the room was poorly decorated and the furnishings were very tired looking. My biggest complaint is that there was a waterproof pad on the king sized bed. Granted, the platic layer was covered by a layer of fabric, but I really object to any plastic on my sleeping surface...especially in a warm climate! We just got back from a 6 night stay at the Chelsea House Jan 3 to the 9th and were pleased overall by the accomodations. The Chelsea House folks (Debi and Amy get 5 stars!) were extremely friendly and helpful, especially for first time Key Westers like us, lending good suggestions about snorkeling trips, bike rentals, and places to go. We stayed at the Red Rooster over New Years. It was great. The room (#3) was large and clean. It was on the Truman side and we ate our breakfast our on our porch and watched the people go by. The pool was warm and clean. There could be more lounge chairs during the high season. We always had parking in the private lot. GREAT LOCATION!!! Walk to everything.

We stayed at the Chelsea house December 7-8, as it turned out, a stay during the rescheduled fantasy fest and this was a real hoot! Reading the tripadvisor reviews, I knew what we were getting. We are used to 4 star accomodation, but the value was outstanding and the rooms clean. THe LCD TV was a nice touch in the room. We booked our stay at the Chelsea House about three weeks prior to our visit. It was our anniversary weekend, and we arrived in time for the last day of Fantasy Fest. Due to Fantasy Fest, most hotels and bed & breakfasts had very limited availability and/or extremely high prices. Stayed at Chelsea House (which actually is comprised of the Chelsea House and Red Rooster Inn) Nov 24-27, 2005 in an "economy room" (only $119, pretty cheap for KW) and it was small everywhere - room, bath, closet, furniture - but the biggest drawback was its location at the front of the property on Truman - lots of traffic noise. Continental breakfast not good, only old stale cold pastries and was not available until 8 AM (they do have toasters) so we had to go out for breakfast. My husband and I visited Chelsea House just 2 short weeks after the island experienced the wrath of hurricane Wilma. The inn staff assured us they were in full operation prior to our arrival, and although they did suffer some damage to their lovely landscaping, the inn itself did appear to fair quite well. My husband and I took a quick run down to the Keys from Miami for an overnight stay. Last year we stayed at the sister property, the Chelsea House and thought we could not be more pleased. Upon arrival we were escorted to every available room to choose one to our liking in the Red Rooster. The service and staff were so friendly and kind. My husband and I stayed here while we were in Key West to get married. The staff was very nice. The room was small and the furniture not at all brand new. I could have lived with everything (for the price) except the fact that I had to wear shoes constantly in the room. I stepped into the shower after walking around barefoot and much to my dismay, the tub was FILTHY from the bottom of my feet. The balcony was huge. My wife and I stayed at the Chelsea House. Although the place was very nice we only booked it because it was supposed to be adults only. That turned out to be false. When I booked it I asked if itwas adults only and was told yes. When we arrived we asked again and was told yes. However while we were checking in a couple came in with a 12 year old. We asked about this and were told they were returning guest and the owner approved of it. Throughout the week there were a total of 3 children.
