Chaw Ka Cher Tropicana Lanta Resort

Chaw Ka Cher's lush, well-maintained grounds and spacious, stylish rooms (note: all with connected outdoor bathrooms and toilets; it can get hot and buggy out there) are a fabulous value. Similar rooms in the States or Caribbean would be well over $200, and my friend and I paid a quarter of that. But -- even though we thought we'd trade off on-the-beach location for something a bit more stylish, we realized a beachfront hotel is the reason one travels to Ko Lanta...and there are plenty of appealing hotels to choose from along Long Beach... more

This resort is really great value and very well maintained. Staff are excellent, the rooms and pool are immaculate. It is not on the beach but it's only a short tuk tuk /moped ride away. We looked at lots of other resorts whilst we were there and didn't see another place that offered such quality accommodation at such a good price. Ko Lanta is my favourite Thai island as it's such a real, natural and friendly place. Unspoilt by the seedy commercial side of Thai tourism you get on other islands. Go there!

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights in early January 07. We had researched places on Koh Lanta and chose this as it seemed what we were after - quiet and nice facilities. It is new, maybe less than a year old. the staff were excellent and the food was good. the rooms were really nice, but the real winner was the outdoor bathroom. the beds were the best also. This is a lovely hotel and top value as the grounds and hotel rooms are wonderful - stylish with lots of white and dark wood. it's quiet, tropical, lots of greenery and a nice pool. It might be because we were there mid season, there weren't many guests and therefore low staff levels but the service was patchy. Breakfast took ages even with just four people in the restaurant (and wasn't good apart from the fruit - not that it matters). Restaurant and bar area isn't atmospheric either; but attractive. This hotel is located within 10 minute walk to restaurants and long beach. The hotel rooms and pool are fantastic and very large. The breakfasts are poor with a choice of either eggs, ham and sausage or a thai breakfast of congee and shrimp. Free internet and staff very friendly. Would hire a motorbike as it makes exploration of the island a lot easier. The hotel organises this for 250bht a day.

We are currently staying in this resort and I have to say from all the places I have stayed in Thailand this is one of the best and best value for money. The rooms are lovely. Tastefully decorated and the cleanest I have come accross in Thailand. The staff are very friendly and helpful as well. There appears to be not a lot of difference between the types of rooms, so for value for money I would recommend staying in a standard villa. We stayed at this hotel for 6 days not long after it opened. It is a beautiful hotel with amazing grounds and one of the nicest rooms I've ever stayed in. I found the staff very friendly and helpful - they went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The hotel manager would come and chat to us and seemed genuinely interested in how we were getting on. The hotel features 16 (I think) individual bungalows set in leafy grounds with a kidney-shaped pool in the middle. The bungalows feel pretty private because of the layout of the grounds.... more

Newly opened and therefore in great shape. A couple of things disappointed; the lack of cable TV (though that is being sorted) and the lack of English speaking waiters. The pool was lovely, the room lovely, and the bathroom the best I have seen anywhere. The reception staff sorted out trips and hotels for no charge and every whim was cared for. Free internet and motorbikes! Not vastly expensive (around USD 50) for such luxury.

This place is absolutely great, the villa's are wonderful (not much difference in a pool villa and a normal one - apart from you have a view of the pool). You get given fresh flowers decorated on your bed and in the bathroom each morning, with a selection of fruit too. We didn't eat here apart from breakfast which was very nice. The staff were soo friendly and helpful, we thought there was a shuttle to the beach but were given a moped (free of charge), which was nice, time to explore the whole island.
