Wonderful Majorcan hotel
The hotel is an old Majorcan townhouse and retains much of its atmosphere and architecture. The (English) owners were there to greet us and make our stay as comfortable and easy as possible. The rooms we had were charming with local decoration and detailing combined with modern comfort. All the rooms are different so we managed to have a look at some of the other rooms. Very difficult to say which would be our favorite. Breakfast is served at long tables in the dining room - the weather did not quite allow breakfast on the terrace - and... more
a magical mountain setting
This boutique hotel/ bed and breakfast is a must for grown-ups seeking a walking week-end or holiday, a 'get-away from it all' time, and a just relaxing hideaway in the mountains. A small (9rooms) hotel , it has the intimacy and friendliness you rarely find- plus a magnificent breakfast to set-up you up for the day ahead. The hostess/owner is warmly welcoming, can speak fluent Spanish and goes out of her way to offer advice on walks or sight-seeing or shopping, to book restaurants for you and generally ensure she is there with a... more
The Photos Looked Great Online
My husband booked two hotels for our stay in Majorca. He found both online - the first was Can Simoneta - a stunning place on the East Coast of the Island; the second was Ca'n Reus. We were greeted by Sue and noticed that the place looked a little worn and long in the tooth. There were not many rooms to choose from. There was a family at the hotel with kids screaming and running around- they seemed to have such a run of the place I first thought that they were Sue's. There were many great books hanging around and we thought that... more
Stunning all round
Thie time was another one of our impromptu trips and once again Sue the English owner welcomed us with the offer of a wonderful room with spectacular views across the Soller valley, scattered with olive trees and orange groves with the impressive backdrop of some daunting peaks. The hotel couldn't be better placed for wonderful walking and you can take your pick from challenging mountain walking or more gentle countryside or seaside strolls. Sue is always able to provide direction and encouragement. Arriving mid afternoon after... more
Idyllic retreat away from the package tours
We arrived at Ca'n Reus after a leisurely drive from Palma airport at about 8.30am on Saturday, too early to check in to our room, but nevertheless welcomed by Sue, the owner - whose face looked familiar - and invited to enjoy breakfast outside on the very nice terrace overlooking a small but adequate swimming pool (unheated, so in October it is 'refreshing') and a picturesque valley down towards the town of Soller. Complementary breakfast on the day of arrival wouldn't be expected normally, so we were happily off to a good start in an... more
A Fantastic Place
We have just returned from a fantastic week, staying in the Ca'n Reus. Our trip from Ireland took a little longer than expected as we were held up for three hours queuing for our already booked hire car. This meant we arrived at 4.00am completely exhausted. We phoned Sue on our arrival when she met us we were immediately sorted out with our room and all of a sudden life seemed good again. The room (Ca ses Jaiesis) was full of character although a little dark. The bed was comfy, the wardrobe spacious and the shower was excellent.... more
Intriguing Ca'n Reus
Staying at Ca'n Reus for three nights, we had booked the suite (Puig Major), and the excellent website does lead you to expect something rather more 'up together' than the reality, so slightly disappointing for starters. That said, you do gradually warm to its quirkish charm, and its views of the Serra Tramuntana mountain range are unbeatable. The breakfasts on the terrace are very appetising and imaginative - well ahead of the 'standard fare' of sliced ham, cheeses and croissants. Good walking guides provided by the owner, Sue... more
Pretty but in need of tlc
We visited the Can Reus shortly after the new British owners took over. The hotel as a result was in the process of an upgrade - new towels (from John Lewis!). We stayed in a twin overlooking the narrow street after turning down a musty tiny double at the top of the house, but its bathroom was mouldy, the shower didn't work properly and lighting suffered from an inadequate elderly electricity supply. It was on the rustic side of comfort and like many of the old village houses the rooms are small and dark -but it does have architectural... more
A little bit of england in Mallorca
If you want the quintessential english country house atmosphere in the middle of some amazing mallorcan scenery this is the place to go. Not exectly what we wanted - tea by the pool at 4pm - but I am sure it is for some. If you want the more authentic rural spain - where people actually speak spanish to you - then go somewhere else. The whole village was actually very pretentious - with a very expensive english run restaurant (Cafe Med) that would have looked right at home in Chelsea with prices to match. In all honestly I cannot say... more
Incredible location, beautiful B&B
A wonderful bed and breakfast in a spectacular part of Mallorca. If you are looking for beautiful scenery, good hiking, and a place to get away from the crowds, this part of Mallorca is the ideal location. The town of Fornalutz is spectacular with a few cafes and restaurants to sit and relax. Ca'n Reus is small and beautiful just like the town. The breakfasts are unlike any we had ever experienced. Tomas, the innkeeper, prepares a magnificent spread using traditional Mallorcan/Catalan recipes.
