Camino Real Zaashila

I visited this hotel from nov. 26 to dec. 1 2002 with my family. I had made my reservations in advanced and was asked to pay for the whole week. When arrived they said my reservation was cancelled. They gave me a different rate and was asked to pay again since my previous reservation did not made a charge to my credit card. Just returned from first visit to Huatulco. Really a beautiful place and pretty undiscovered. Weather was perfect--never too hot or too cold and always a breeze. As for Zaashila, we liked the beach and the breakfast buffet (would sit under an umbrella and spend over an hour enjoying breakfast). Rooms were large but plain. Bathrooms had nice double sinks but shower was hard to get into without getting head wet turning on the shower and had quite a bit of mold. Our room didn't get cleaned one day. My wife and I just returned from the Camino Real Zaashila - absolutely wonderful, room - we were upgraded to a suite - only problem was walk up the hill to the room, but probably good exercise. Food and service were great. Already planning our next trip to Huatulco, and we will stay at the Camino Real.

Just can't say enough about how great our experience and stay were at this fantastic facility. Even though it was still the slow season, we were not neglected in the least. Everything, from service to food to accomodation were better than I could have imagined. Great room, air conditioning, pool maintenance, and food were just some of the pluses of this very well run resort.

We just got back from our honeymoon, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about Huatulco, Mexico, and the hotel we stayed at! The Camino Real Zaashilla is a feast for the eyes! The staff is extremely friendly, helpful, and top-notch. They are gracious and pleasant. The hotel itself was a dream! Perfect for a honeymoon or any getaway. I would rate this a 5-star hotel. What can I say? I was blown away by the wonderful service from the attentive staff, the hand made tortillas with Oaxaca cheese at the breakfast buffett, the beautiful swimming pool, the amazing meals by the ocean. This hotel is a gem. Don't come here if you are looking for American food, noisy club atmosphere or to have an all inclusive food and drink hotel. This is a resort and deserves a 5 star rating. Best time to visit is during the slow season which is 2 weeks before Mexican Independence Day (Sept. 15th). I will come back.

My husband, six-year-old daughter and I spent a week here in April. The location is idyllic -- beautiful beach, gorgeous white buildings -- and the staff is pleasant and accomodating. The surrounding bay has a few other hotels but doesn't feel overdeveloped at all. The majority of guests here seemed to be well-heeled Mexicans on holiday. We arrived in Huatulco for the first time on Tues. April 27th (the end of high season) and were astounded by the beauty and nature of the surroundings. Had a bit of a hairy ride to our hotel, the Camino Real Zaashila, only because the driver seemed anxious to get us to our destination. Never having been in Mexico before, we were not quite sure what to pack and wanted to travel lightly. I love it. The building, the view, the food, my own private pool, the service. Its a good hotel to rest, its very quiet. I want to go back.
