Best Western Key Ambassador Resort Inn

Paid for ocean view room with a balcony. The ocean view is across a two lane noisy major street that is undergoing major construction! My view is obstructed by 3 large construction vehicles. The noise during the day is unbearable. I don't know what is worse, the traffic noise or the construction noise. The room itself is rather large but the bathroom is tiny. Also, you are very far away from Duvall Street. A helpful hint: If you are going to be driving to Duvall Street, stock up on quarters. It takes 4 quarters for one hour of parking. The... more

Beautiful landscape around pool and tiki bar area. Clean facility and room. The airport is nearby and day flights are loud, go play somewhere else. It does quiet down at night though. The weather was cool during our stay, so the broken air conditioner wasn't a problem. We were waiting for our B&B. Our stay was one night only, But I wouldn't have minded staying longer. Don't pay extra for the ocean view... they're rebuilding the road in front of the hotel. Besides, the pool view is a more tropical setting with no traffic.

We found the Key Ambassador to be an excellent value, with an absolutely gorgeous pool, with one huge (deal breaker) exception. Local families, teens, and apparently anybody else who feels like spending the day at the Key Ambassador's pool is encouraged to do so on the weekends. This is a standard motel which is located in a less congested area of Key West. If it were not for the large pool with excellent bar which serves sandwiches, this Best Western would be typical of many roadside motels. Our room had a very loud window type air conditioner and the sliding glass door to the balcony was hard to open. This is the BEST value ever!!!!! I am used to staying at the Hyatt and Marriott, but my boyfriend and I decided to go to Miami & Key West on a budget. This is not only a great value, but a really, really clean well-taken care of hotel! I would recommend this to my family and friends! Do your self a favor and rent a moped from the hotel lobby...My boyfriend and I shared one and LOVED driving it to the heart of the Keys!

We just returned from our stay at the Best Western Key Ambassador and we have concluded when we return to Key West we will probably stay there again. The rooms are budget, nothing fancy, the bathrooms and "dressing area" are very small but the gorgeous pool and excellent beverage and food service at the Cheekie Hut (thank you, Isaac!) more than make up for the simplicity. The hotel was being nice but you could see they were still doing repairs from Hurricane Wilma. This is not a luxury hotel. The rooms were clean but our patio was not - the screens were ripped out but again - due to the hurricane. However, housekeeping does a great job. Our family stayed here during spring break and were upgraded to an oceanview room. The view could have been beautiful, but was filtered due to the screened balcony. The room was a good size and clean but dated. Although we did not use the pool, it was layed out nicely and seemed to be a hit with the college kids. I stayed at this hotel with 2 friends for 2 nights. We were expecting an oceanside room. Unfortunately the ocean was on the other side of a main road with no beach. The view was still nice, but not worth the extra money. Besides this, the place was pretty nice. Free wireless internet, easy parking, free breakfast, clean big rooms.
