Bel Jou Hotel

We expected a bright colourful hotel, this is the Caribbean after all, but we found much of it dull. Our room had battleship grey on one wall and the furniture throughout was dark brown, even around the pool area which was cramped. Extra seating was available in the garden but it rained a lot while we were there and it became very boggy. And there were chicken droppings to contend with! We were on the 5th floor and had no water on many occasions. Reported but nothing done. Toilet overflowed on our first day. It had a fault but nothing done... more

staff were brilliant very friendly.The steak on gala night was great.The hotel still has a long way to go on the refurbishment.W e knew there were steps around the hotel but not how many or how steep they were also when it rained they became really slippery.We were there for 3 weeks over christmas and new year and in that time the pool was not cleanrd or the water tested.The entertainment ended to early and some nights there wasnt any.Would have liked to walk outside the hotel but this was not really possible.The rooms were kept very clean... more

We enjoyed our two week stay at this Saga hotel very much.The staff were friendly and helpful and did all they could to make our holiday enjoyable'.The food was good and plentiful,the rooms kept clean and everyone smiled. The refurbishment has away to go but when they close next year and put in new plumbing and redorate this will really make this a nice and comfortable place to stay. This is an exclusive Saga Hotel catering for older British travellers on an all inclusive basis . Food & drink very good & plentiful and all facilties are OK. Location is high above Castries giving wonderful views but no local walks are available . There are regular shuttle buses to the popular beaches and shops . Evening entertainment is good although everything stops around 10.30.Staff are very friendly and attentive .

Great holiday best food ever tasted on holiday. Staff very attentive and cheerful. Amazing view from bedroom. loved the new refurbishment and the rum punch by the pool and cocktailsSteve and Carolyn great hosts. Would have liked access more readily to beach than by bus and pack insect repellant in rainy season.

We were on St. Lucia due to our aircraft having maintenance issues. We spent our first night in the Auberge Seraphine Hotel, which I had stayed in previously with my wife. Able to spend only one night there, due to being booked, we were referred by the wonderful lady that owns the Auberge Seraphine to the Bel Jou Hotel. What a very lucky choice. Our three week holiday at the Bel Jou was one of the best holidays ever. The food was excellent - the steak on the gala night was the best we have ever tasted. The entertainment was varied and enjoyable. Although the hotel was at the top of a hill a mini bus operated during the day to Castries, Rodney Bay and Pigeon Island etc. The room we had was excellent - large, clean and the view from the balcony was superb. found this hotel to be very frendly always plenty of sunloungers available but could have done with a few more parasols around the pool.Our room was on the top floor with lovely views over the gardens and beyond to the sea.(I could watch the sunset from my large bed)The room itself was very spacious and clean with flat screen television,fridge, air con and ceiling fan it would have been nice to have the bathroom with air con other than that there was always plenty of hot water and lovely fluffy towels.The restaurant was really nice wonderful... more

What a truly wonderful holiday in a fabulous hotel. Adults only - no children screaming and sometimes you could be totally on your own in the pool. The food was fantastic - the fillet steak on Gala Night was one of the best I have ever tasted. The entertainment was brilliant and the atmosphere in the hotel made it feel more like a giant house party - the nightly cocktail party before dinner was the ideal opportunity for everyone to get together and discuss their day. This hotel was the Cara Suites and obviously fell on hard times as it is away from the beach on a hill top. Now taken over and refurbished by Saga who have learned their lesson from the cavalieri Malta. We arrived at night after a very tiring flight. Made welcome with rum punches and then into dinner.
