Altinkaya Holiday Village

We have just returned from spending 6 days at the Altinkaya. We were in the hotel where the room was very nice and clean and had a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities which we found very useful after a day's sight seeing. The staff were absolutely superb - friendly and polite at all times - and went out of their way to help. Unfortunately we found the food to be sadly lacking in quality, quantity and choice. The Altinkaya has been around a bit now and doesn't match the plush new hotels in terms of facilities and grandeur. But there is something about the place that turns Victor Meldrews into happy, friendly people and with the excellent staff, it is a place that people return to year after year. It is our 3rd visit. Staying at the new main building is slightly more expensive than the bungalows but worth it: the bungalows are looking a bit tired these days. We stayed at the Altinkaya Residence which is on the other side of the road to the Hotel, So it was much quieter than the main hotel.The mini villa's are very pleasant, coffee and tea making facilities and a fridge were provided. The bedroom is on a gallery. nice and clean and the beds were comfy. Maid srevice was daily clean towels and a general tidy. After arriving late at night after a endless journey via turkey, surely direct flights must come soon, we were greeted by a member of staff who welcomed us and took our luggage. we were in a hotel room which was more than adequate . We arrived down in the bar in need of a cold beer (Efes) we were given a few snacks which went down really well, When we woke in the morning we were greeted with a beautiful view of the pool the sun was shining, what more could you want in March. I stayed in one of the single storey "bungalows". The rooms are very basic (not a problem), but it was fairly obvious that the floors had not been cleaned between the previous occupiers leaving and my arriving. Bedding was fine, but curtains were hanging off their rails, etc and taps were loose. Shower looked as though it needed throwing out and replacing. The cleaners did not seem to possess a vacuum cleaner, which was odd as the bedroom was carpeted. On the plus side, water for showering etc was plentiful, bungalow was nicely... more

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights whilst buying property in Northern Cyprus. As it was out of season it was very quiet. The staff were friendly and the rooms very clean. Breakfast was included and was adequate. Would stay again without hesitation.

We stayed at the Altinkaya for two weeks in September 2006. We arrived at about 2030 but were warmly welcomed by reception.The staff cooked us up a fresh meal which was tasty and most appreciated considering the hour. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis in one of the two roomed bungalows. This is not a 4 star hotel and misses out on the finer points but none the less it was clean and comfortable but fittings in bathroom were somewhat dated. Like "Disappointed" of London, I was a visitor to the Altinkaya in March this year, but the hotel he or she saw then was not the one I encountered on my visit. Maybe the staff had changed (or the weather!) but my welcome there was a much warmer one. Like our friend from London, I also arrived early in the morning in Kyrenia (2am-ish), but the young man at reception was only too happy to open the bar and dispense a few ice-cold Efes (beer) before I hit the hay. I stayed at the Atlin Kaya for nine days in March 2006. Although this may a nice hotel in the Summer, I could not recommend it for a Winter break. Arriving at 1.30 in the morning in a chilly period, surely the (very noisy)central heating in the room could have been on to warm up the room when we arrived ? The couple who arrived at the same time could hear my central heating system all night and their's did not work! The 'duluxe' room was barely standard for any 4* hotel I have stayed in. We stayed here for 3 weeks in October 2005 on a half board basis. Our apartment was OK but slightly dated but still comfortable and clean, with a sunny balcony offering stunning views. The complex is in 2 parts on opposite sides of a main road. We were in the main part where the Hotel accommodation is also situated, however, most of the meals are served in the other complex, over the road - not really a problem as you're not walking any further that you would in any reasonable sized complex and the road isn't too busy.
