Turim Europa Hotel

There is very little that we can complain about with our stay, the bedrooms were a good size and were very clean and catered for any essential needs, the staff were also more than willing to help with any queries we had. There are great transport links with 2 Metro stations and bus stops nearby and it only took 20 minutes to walk to the city centre on foot. This hotel is in a small side street but in a good location for two metro stations.Sadly there are two very large properties, facing the hotel across the narrow street, undergoing massive renovation. The builders start work at 7 am (except Sunday) and there are cranes, bulldozers and lorries in and out constantly until about 8pm.This makes the entrance, to the hotel ,look shabby and unkempt.And it's noisy! I booked a city break to Lisboa as a treat for my dad, who was visiting from Canada and never saw Portugal before. I was a bit worried when I saw the negative critic (well the ONE negative critic) but as everyone else says, this hotel is just GREAT. Yes, it is near a funny alley way and yes, breakfast is just ok but it is a great location for taking the subway, the airport shuttle stops a few minutes away, the staff was friendly and helpful in recommending good fado and seafood places. Stayed 4 nights here at the end of May. Majority of the staff including the manager didn't seem to be too interested in the guests. Not necessarily rude, but just disinterested. Although, that may have been a Portugal cultural thing because we found that same attitude in most places within Portugal. The bad part was the 1st room they gave us. The Hotel is well located, near to Marques de Pombal square. Less than five minutes walking from “Parque” metro station (blue line, direct to Baixa-Chiado), three minutes walking from “Picoas” metro station (yellow line) and the same from bus stop of numbers 36, 45 and nightbus 207 all direct to the old city center (buses are named Carris). We stayed for just one night at the end of our Portugal trip. Room and bed were very small. Unfortunately, we figured out that the bed was not comfortable during the night. After a night without sleeping much we told the concierge about the small bed. He just said that there is only one size. However, if you have a look in the Internet or in other rooms you can see that there are also bigger ones. So do not hesitate to change your room if you get such a small bed. First things first, the Turim is a very reasonably priced hotel – we paid around €80 per night for a double room in May. So what follows, if it seems critical, needs to be weighed up against the cost. The hotel is slightly away from the main areas of Lisbon, such as the Barrio Alto and the Biaxa. It is however situated nicely near the Parque with the metro station a few minutes walk away. The metro is a good way to get into town, being cheap, clean, safe and pretty quick. Set in a rather funny little back street, this is nonetheless a reasonably well situated hotel close to a couple of Metro stations and the main bus route. Rooms are well presented and immaculate, though a little dark. Soundproofing between rooms isn't great. Breakfast adequate, staff efficient. Overall, a fine choice for a few days. Very good value.

My partner and I stayed in this hotel in September 2006 for 4 nights. The location is very good, on the northern periperhery of the centre of Lisbon. We generally walked into the city centre, which was about a 15 minute walk. Walking back is up hill from town and up some narrow streets, but the city is safe. My wife and I stayed here for a few days whilst exploring Lisbon; this is a very good (and economical) modern hotel in a small quiet street just off the main drag from the airport to the city. The aerobus 91 stops just 100 metres from the door so unless you have mountains of luggage there are no worries about taxi rip-offs. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially the reception lady who speaks perfect English.
