Tropicana Hotel

A great place to go to get away from it all & be treated like someone special. from the time you arrive your taken care of.. staff are more than helpfully, rooms are very clean.. beach is well mantained.. loved it and going back for the 4th time in November..

This was our eighth trip to Vallarta in ten years but the first to stay at the Tropicana and in the Romantic Zone. In the past my husband and I have stayed at the Sheraton, Krystal, and Holiday Inn in the Hotel Zone. We stayed in a superior room on the fifth floor in the new tower between June 5-12. I'm in the travel advertising business and have traveled all over the World. This place was great! It is very clean, has beautiful views, right on the beach, and in an awesome location. You want to be in the new part of the hotel...... This is well worth your money.... Not an all inclussive and thank heavens it isn't. Worryfreevacations / MLT rates this it's lowest rating (a 1or 2)......but it is much better than their 5 stars that i've stayed at ( there ratings). I have been going to Vallarta since the late 70's and have mostly stayed at La Jolla de Mismaloya which is around 20 minutes from town. This is my first time at the Tropicana and I will never stay anywhere else! I went for 8 days getting back April 11, 2004 and my room with ocean-view balcony was very nice with the most spectacular sunsets ever! This well located hotel was a nice surprise to our party. It fronts one of the best beaches in the area and is located so close to the fun and fine dining in downtown PVR. The rooms are basic but very clean with fresh mattesses and linens. The food in the open air restaurant was not elaborate but very well prepared and presented, breakfast is excellent. This is a great place for any visitor who prefers to experience Mexican culture rather than the more sterile atmosphere of the all inclusive resorts further from the city.

Our family just returned from a fabulous week at the amazing Tropicana Hotel. We have stayed there on other trips to P.V. and we are never disappointed. The are of town around the Tropicana is great. It is not quite as hectic as downtown, but has some really good restaurants (my favorites are Cafe d'olla and if you have the extra cash for a special meal La Palapa). We booked at the Tropicana on the strength of the reviews here and were very pleased. Going through selloffvacations we had a large selection of hotels to choose from none of them had as many good reviews as the Trop. We upgraded to a superior room on the 3rd floor facing the ocean above the swimming pool. Hotel was wonderfully maintained, grounds and pool area as well as rooms. We stayed in the older section of the hotel, room 707, excellent view of the beach. The room had a noisy air conditioner, no problem as we left the door open day and night, the sound of the surf and the cool breeze was all we needed. The breakfast deal is ok if you want to be lazy and just have a quick breakfast, there was always scrambled eggs, and the coffee was reasonable, however some of the breakfast meats were questionable, some unrecognizable. we loved our stay at the hotel.Elias from the front was very helpful and pleasant. Despite what the other reveiws said we enjoyed the food, especially the fajitas. Our room service was very good we always had plenty of towels. The security guards were nice. For cheap tacos go across the street to the little store. muy bien.
