Tiran Island Hotel

Having just returned from a fortnight at this hotel I have to say that we would have happily have come home early from this experience. The hotel being new the buildngs are nice and clean and the rooms comfortable but unfortunately this is where the music stops. The facilities are inadequate for the number of guests when the hotel is full and you need to be up at 6.30 to guarantee a sunbed round the pool (or tip the towel man to do it for you!). We have recently returned from a weeks stay at this hotel, You can not fault the hotel as far as comfort and cleanliness, but the food is disgraceful !, the choice is minimal luke warm at best and yes there are 2 microwaves there for you to use to heat up your food if you want it hotter.There was aload of Russain and Ukrainian's whilst we were there and they did not seem to have a problem with the food always stacked their plates and finished off everything that they got. Not what I would have expected from a 3 star and Thomas Cook. The rooms were clean, the hotel was beautiful, the waiting staff were as helpful as they could be but supervisors and management stood around and let customers queue for food and drinks at all times of day and night. Lack of sunbeds mean if your towels not on by 7.15am your not getting a sunbed all day. No where to walk to as surrounded by building site and all inclusive hotels. I Will start off with the Tips first. You are 2 hours in front over here in Eygpt Do not book trips with your holiday reps they are way to expensive try Luna Rossa which you can access on internet back home. Do not use the Hotel Taxi they are very polite but very expensive if you go to front gates and use the Blue and White taxi's do not pay more then 40.00 Eygiptian Pounds to get to Namma bay and to got to old Sharm get the blue buses that will cost you 1 Eygiptian Pound. I think firstly you have to bear in mind that the price people pay to stay here varies enormously so in my opinion that reflects some of the reviews. I met people who had paid £500 all inclusive for 2 weeks so what would you expect for that! I paid more than that for a week and admit I was expecting something fabulous. I have been to a 5 star hotel in Egypt before but this is no comparison. The pool and hotel are lovely but not 5 star. went to this hotel with my husband and another couple, couple mins from airport but no sound heard, hotel beautiful and spotless, houskeepers are brill and clean room spotless everyday, bar staff were great after we told en to smile a bit more, if you tip the staffyou get fantastc service all night ( only couple quid ) and gets you great service , same with the towel men at the pool tip em everyday and you get your beds and towels set out everyday (if you don't tip u won't geta bed ?) one problem if you have kids is food not too good for... more

Went all inclusive, 11th March for one week. I've been to Sharm before and in comparison to other hotels I can say better than some, worse than others. The hotel is modern, clean with a very nice pool (swim up bar) and gardens. The service was OK, sometimes you have to queue for drinks or meals but on the whole the wait wasn't too long. I stayed here for 2 weeks on an all inclusive basis, what a joke!!! if you want a cup of tea before 11am you have to pay for it, if you go to the beach the bar there will serve soft drinks but you have to PAY for tea or coffee. There are no kettles in the rooms so you can't make a drink. You have to buy bottles of water as the hotel does not provide water as part as the all inclusive!! The staff was very ignorant, we went A.I. but the bar served us free of charge only between 11.00am and 23.00 pm. You get to have your drinks in a plastic glass. The menu of the restaurant is quiet poor. you get to have same meal everyday.Above all the biggest problem is the staff..;

We had low expectations and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The food was good and there should have been something there for everyone. However I've never seen so much food go to waste.... it was laid out buffet style, and peoples eyes were bigger than their bellies.... I could hear the usual type of people complaining about the food.... that was because they didn't do a microwave'd meal....
