Tamarix del Mar

We made last minute plans for a family of 5. The people/staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. breakfast was included and it was outstanding. The hotel is off the water, but set around a lovely pool...quite intimate. Our children were welcome everywhere. There is internet in the lobby, a small gym is also included.

We booked directly with the hotel for a weeks stay and were picked up from the airport by the hotel staff themselves. When we arrived at the hotel we were stunned, the hotel is beautiful! Tamarix del Mar is only yards away from the resort centre of Kamari, some local shops/ supermarkets and the beach but still manages to remain quiet. We stayed here whilst we were getting married. I have to say it ranks in the top three of my favourite hotels ever stayed in. We stayed in the Executive Suite and it was fab. We got an automatic upgrade from booking on the website as we told them it was our wedding. We received champagne and cake on our wedding night and a small gift when we departed. We stayed at the Tamarix del Mar whilst in Santorini for our wedding. Our stay was amazing, from the moment their driver picked us up at the airport to the moment we left nothing was too much trouble. We booked a junior suite direct with the hotel, getting a very good price, with the promise of an upgrade if possible. We stayed at Tamarix as part of our honeymoon in the Cyclades. What can I say? It was fabulous. I booked a little over a month before our arrival and was promised a free upgrade to a two-level suite. We got everything that was promised and more! A bottle of very nice local wine on our arrival, a souvenir on checkout, not to mention a private jacuzzi and a terrace on the roof! When we first arrived at the hotel there was an overbooking with the rooms, however the staff were very apologetic and we were upgraded that night to a maisonette with a huge terrace and private jacuzzi - lovely! On the second night we were transferred to a lovely hotel on the clifftop in Imergovili, which was directly overlooking the caldera, we watched the most beautiful sunset whilst sipping a bottle of champagne which we had also been given as a way of apology. When we arrived at the Tamarix del mar, we were told that a couple who had been married the day before had had a moped accident and had had to stay in our room, so the first night we shared an exclusive suite with our friends. Whilst this was a bit cramped for the first night, the staff then continued with our upgrade to a suite for the rest of our stay and the stay was fabulous. This hotel is lovely, with a great pool, bar and rooms. The pool was never too crowded whilst we were there and there were plently of sunbeds to choose from. We stayed in one of the 2 maisonettes which have a jacuzzi on the roof. OK, the jacuzzi did not work as well as it could (there seemed to be a bit too much foam being produced!). Where do I start? This hotel is beautiful, we had booked it over 12 months ago as this was for our wedding. We booked it with Thomas Cook who before we got there had over booked us and had then put us at the Kastilli. We pushed for this hotel again due to when we booked they had 5 suites left!! Eventually we got the hotel we wanted before we got out there. Apart from that Thomas Cook were great. Tamarix was an excellent choice for us a young couple with a baby. It was impecably clean, rooms were great (however make sure you choose carefully as the upstairs rooms are excellent (even though more expensive) and the dounstairs rooms not as good I hear and service superb. Sofia was great and catered for our every need. We chose a suite with rooftop pool that really made us feel special. Short 100m walk to the beach where an array of restaurants wait to meet you.
