Not a five star hotel
from bababebe
very disappointed when we arrived at the hotel. The most you should pay for a week is £500 not £900 like we did. This is not a five star hotel, It should be a 3 star hotel. Swimming pool area is very nice and safe for children and it is not over crowded No outdoor playground for children The Azia resort has a sea view but is not on the beach. The beach is a long way from the hotel Restaurant . We were on half board but would not do it again. The restaurant was very quiet. There was no atmosphere and the food was terrible. Bedrooms are very clean but are in need of refurbishing if they want to keep their five stars Very quiet resort in the middle of nowhere. 10 kms from Paphos centre Would not stay at his hotel again..
Magical Stay- great staff, beautiful facilities
from FPMason
My husband and I have returned from a stay at the Azia. The reason we went was that one of my best friends got married there, so we thought it would be more convenient to stay there. It was a very pleasant surprise to spend a week at the Azia. The location is fantastic, with an open beautiful bay as the background. The wedding was organised so beautifully, it was out of a romantic fairytale!!!! May be it was the fact that we were there for the wedding, but I have never enjoyed such romantic sunsets before! The staff was impeccable and the spa should be more emphasised as it is definitely a very important part of this hotel. e did a girlie day there before my friend's wedding day , thoroughly enjoyed by all 6 of us! My only problem with the hotel was initially the room which was fine but not really as nice design as the rest of the hotel. The reception offered me another room at an additional charge (10 pounds a day) which was not much to pay for a much better room. we are now in Sardinia spending a planned holiday with my children and wishing we had stayed in Cyprus for longer and had taken the children...We are now planning to go back with the children over the half term in October( and another couple who were with us at the wedding are thinking of joining us too).
Azia Resort - Lovely Hotel - doesnt deserve the bad reviews
from Mrs_Picky1
I booked The Azia mainly due to the fact that it belonged to the Small Luxury Hotel group - and we have always had great service from everywhere we had stayed. I happened across this website (Trip Advisor) just before we were about to go and I have to say that it totally ruined my two week run up to my holiday - I contacted the hotel and the organisation they belong to above and showed them the reviews - we are used to staying in nice hotels and will not put up with poor service or sub-standard accomodation. They both did their best to re-assure me. I almost cancelled several times. We had 2 junior suites - joining with 2 Jacuzzis for us and our sons aged 6 & 11. I went armed with two possible alternative hotels (having checked availability) should we not be happy on our arrival. We could not of had better service - we were greeted promptly and by the manager - we arrived quite late in the evening and they had put a selecetion of local food and juices and wine in our room as well as a DVD for the boys in theirs. The Hotel entrance areas and the Spa are fantastic - our rooms were clean and comfortable - our toiletries were delightful (not cheap as another reviewer mentioned) indeed we received an Elemis gift pack in addition. The pool area is very spacious and comfortable - as well as having a great pool for smaller children too - ours are competant swimmers they enjoyed having the island to swim around and really enjoyed the swim up pool bar the pool is big enough for lots of play - All of the staff were helpful - the pool service is FAB - you do not have to move from your bed all day should you so wish - your drinks are brought to you in an instant. The Breakfasts are great - we stayed for 11 nights and I think we had a different combination each morning - fresh fruits / cheeses / hams / cooked everything you could want / pastries / breads / short order cook for omlettes and eggs etc - unlimited tea / coffee / chocolate and delicious fresh juices. We went Bed and Breakfast and I would recomend this - we ate a couple of times in the Hotel in the evening and it was fine but not outstanding - but plenty for our whole family to enjoy - there are lots of fantastic places to go to eat (several within walking distance) or hundreds within a £5 cab ride. My critisism is - The website overdoes the Hotel (The site makes it look very boutique and it is not) the main areas are delightful and excatly as pictured but from talking to other guests I think the standard rooms might not be as good as the ones we had. Yes you have to pay for all your drinks and from the mini - bar - but it is a hotel!!! The pool area is lovely -but does need an update - we did not have a problem with it and we are picky! - It is not as 5* as many of the 5* hotels we have stayed in - but it is a really lovely hotel - we thought it was excellent value for money and we trashed the mini - bar every day / and charged to our hearts content - we had a 4 page bill at the end. Several people have moaned about the towels - they are Bath towels - Blue in colour - they cover plenty of the cushioned sun bed, if you are happy to pay another deposit you can get more than one - you can change them as often as you like during the day we managed just fine - plus we had waffle robes and slippers hould we of needed them. I only had a couple of treatments at the SPA - but my sons really enjoyed their little back massages - we got to see lots of local interest and sites by hiring a car as well as really enjoying a rest (It was reall hot -but our Air Con was up to the job) We will definitley be going back again - probably in the Autumn when it is a little cooler and I will make better use of the SPA - If you want a nice holiday - particularly if you are a family - I think this is a great option - think 4 star with 5 star extras - but at a really good price.
Not a 5* hotel!
from JanieGUk
I agree with other reviewers - this is far from being a 5 star hotel! We stayed for 2 nights only I'm relieved to say. The best thing about the hotel is the staff, who were all very nice, helpful and friendly. But the sea view room was poor and the bathroom basic with nasty cheap toiletries. The air con in the room did not work properly and the whole place was covered in signs telling us not to steal anything or even use the glasses in the room to drink anything we had not bought in the hotel. We had to pay a deposit of £8 for each beach towel and the 2 cards my husband and I were given on arrival entitled us to just one towel each. And the towels were not even that great - not big fluffy beach towels but thin, narrow ones. Breakfast was certainly not 5 star standard, with horrid fatty bacon and orange 'drink' instead of juice. I would not recommend this hotel at the price that they are charging, there are many other hotels in Cyprus that are the same standard (probably 3.5 star in reality) and much cheaper.

This Hotel has no right to call its self a 5* Hotel. Ok, the facilities are quite good, but everything else leaves a lot to be desired. We booked hoping to have a weekend of sheer luxury, instead we got unhelpful staff, adequate food ( but not worth the 25 pound per person) and abolutely no luxury. One example is that for the evening meal the creamy deserts were left on a table by the pool in the heat and flies for at least 2 hours, on complaining and asking for fresh ones we were greated with moans and groans and an indignant chef ( As we live in Cyprus we know that this is a definate no-no and dairy products go off in about 30 mins. The only vaguely redeeming factor is the fantastic spa which is well worth a visit if the rest of your holiday is ruined. Book this Hotel with extreme care and only if you have money to burn
Great Spa, amazing Yoga, excellent service
from Jane009
I had some life changing yoga lessons there..and I am very knowledgable about yoga. The facial acupuncture was very different and actually worked on me. A delightful hotel, in a beautiful setting. Staff very professional and most helpful. The food is simple, fresh and very good. I had a great room with a jacuzzi outside in hte Azia Blue, but make sure you ask for the ones with more privacy if you have no children with you as most of these are next ot each other.
Book Only With Extreme Care

This is an adequate family hotel, so it avoids the worst rating. But it is not a 5* Spa resort. Grossly overpriced. I would have happily paid about £200 for a week here. Food is average. Staff are unhelpful, disinterested and barely competent - although not rude. Rooms on the main road side are very noisy and suffer from the smell of the hotel's sewerage system- not what i expected when i paid extra for a Club room. "Unfortunately you are in room 329" the night porter said when he checked us in. After a sllepless night and a smelly morning i knew what he meant. It took 3 days for the manager to find a room to move us to, although we were finally accomodated on the other side of the hotel which was positive on their part. The residents bar shut at 11pm when we were there. The reception automatically charge everyone a £16 deposit for beach towels on checkout. Even if you produce the depost cards, they will only reluctantly alter your bill by hand. This is as blatant a rip-off as i have ever seen and makes me incredibly angry. After paying over £500 for a week here, its not the amount that matters but the sheer dishonesty. Agrre totally with previous reviews - the marketing script about their being 3 separate hotels is also simply dishonest. Some other reviewers have leapt to the hotel's defence by suggesting unhappy guests were only looking for freebies. This is not the case with me. I am happy to spend money on my holidays. I have spent far more than the Azia cost me in the past year. Time away from work is precious. Freebies dont come into it. This place just isnt what it makes out to be. In summary - make sure you know what you are getting if you book here. Its an ok place to take your kids for a week. But dont pay too much, thinking its a 5* hotel.
Not a 5 star
from VickyGreece
I just got back from azia (may 2007). I totally agree with 123!"£, uk. There is one complex despite the hotel's site. The room had a certain smell all day long which I couldn't tell exactly what it was. The hotel decoration is wonderful (lobby, restaurant, bar) but when you get into the room it seems they forgot to renovate it as well. It was nice, but not quite what I expected. Some friends of ours stayed at the Coral Beach hotel which was spectacular! Next time I'll certainly book at the Coral.
not a five Star
from THOMOPOL
We booked the hotel via Booking.com as from telephone the hotel did not have rooms available. I booked a superior sea view room with outside Jacuzzi. Good enough for the price paid but all jacuzzi rooms have no privacy. All rooms are adjacent to each other and its like you are in public. - The very funny and stupid thing is that all jacuzzis are closed at 20:00 hours and do not work until 09:00 in the morning. - Rooms were pretty clean. Not much for a 5star rated hotel. TV very old. Had to change it as it did not work. - Room service very slow. But room service food was quality and good value for money. + Mini bar was not stocked. - Swimming pool nice. No beach close however. Fitness room well equiped. One of its plus! + Breakfast okay Gardens okay. If it wasn't for the bad jacuzzi rooms that have working time and the privacy it would be rated as above average.
Awful ! Awful ! Awful !

Stayed here last year. This hotel is an absolute con. The marketing agency that produced their website needs a medal. Never has the promise been so far from the reality. I however see they finally withdraw mention of the spa and beach from the hotel website (FYI: There is no beach and the spa costs a fortune) If this hotel had been a 2 or 3 star and priced accordingly then would have been satisfactory. However to be a 5 star (and a 5 star price is a joke) I note some people rate this hotel and I can only think they got some deal where they get the best rooms in the hotel. I also note wedding guests seemed to get a better level of service The basic rooms are horrible and dirty. I asked at check-in whether the room was nice. The guy gave a sad smile and handed me a list of prices for upgrading the room. (everything in the hotel costs extra.) Upon complaint we got a triple upgrade to a reasonable room but we had to forego our half board. So what is bad. A list in no particular order: TV: Barely worked and the only English speaking channel was Sky News Ireland Noise: You can hear everything from room next door. This is in part due to a shared door with next door which could be opened at any time. Plumbing noise very loud too. Pool Chairs: Filthy Breakfast: Often no or stale bread. Cold eggs. Poor selection. Poor quality Dinner: To get any choice you have to pay extra (even if on half or full board) The limited choice of food for those not wanting to pay extra tasted awful. Carpets around the hotel: Very worn and dirty. Orchard / Forest: Miles and away and yes costs extra Grass: In awful state. Muddy Extra Cost: Everything is extra: Food, better rooms, safe, internet, ice, using their fridge ! Warning Signs: Everywhere telling guests the numerous things they can't do (ie bringing back your own water to hotel) Pool towels: If you want more than one towel get ready to beg. Service: The worst ever. !!! We eventually complained to resort manager 'Stefan' (First complaint I've ever made). He restored our half board (which we had lost when upgrading our room) and gave us free use of the spa and a free massage. Ironically nothing was working in the spa other than the luke warm jacuzzi (which would have cost about £50 if it had not been complimentary.) Massage was over an hour late and they left us waiting without telling us of the delay. She then knocked out our 30 min massages in about ten minutes each to make up the time. Do not stay here, it is rubbish. Everything is extra. This hotel is a con and everyone who works there knows it. I'll be happy to post more if requested. I wouldnt be suprised if they are breaking EU laws. Note: This was last year. It has taken me this long to face up to thinking about what was the biggest waste of money of my life.
We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at the Azia Hotel in Cyprus. We were very concerned after reading bad reviews just before we went, but we found the hotel to be everything that we hoped for. The pool area is stunning and our room was well equipped with a large... more
