This resort named Santhiya is a truly paradise on earth. The fantastic view being in a tropical forest is refreshing as we could see the greens around waking up in the morning. I really love traveling Thailand for it never fails to amaze me. Last december 28, 2007 I went to Bangkok. I didnt know where to go, a good friend of mine endorsed me a resort in Koh Phangan. At first, I was reluctant of it but he insisted that the place is nice and serene. Well, i just said to myself, lets wait and see. So finally, I arrived last 28th of december. We stayed here for 3 nights in June, we booked a 3 day package on their website. It was a beautiful, heavenly place, like paradise. I think we were lucky though as we got a hotel room that was on the top floor on the left hand side of the block, so we had windows right up the side of our room that showed the lovely view. We were slightly worried about getting there, our trip included a speed boat ride, but they didn't reply to an email asking how to go about getting the speedboat. We spent 3 nights at the Santhiya resort in October 2007 and loved it! We moved there from the Star Huts (world of difference) and loved it from the moment we got there. We got a fantastic deal by just going to the front desk- it worked out to about 50% off the regular price. The room was beautiful and we loved the view! The food was also excellent- the only decent western food we had in Thailand (but the Thai food is so great we hardly missed western food a anyway). I tend to agree with the first paragraph of the last review. The making of a fantastic resort is let down by basic features. Firstly you are treated to a free massage as soon as you arrive, however hot and sweaty, tired and needing the toilet you may be, secondly the English skills of the staff are terrible, a classic case of a top price resort paying for underskilled labour. This place has all the makings of one of the greatest resorts but it fell short in so many areas. The room are good and the views are amazing, but the food was horrible and expensive, the service was avergae (I had to get someone to the room so that I could write my room service order down for them), and the beach was shocking and unable to swim in. Luckily great food and an amazing beach is only a 5 minute's walk away.

Fabulous HUGE pools and waterfall on private beach. We stayed in a seaview villa...No.305 has the best view, and loved every minute ! Very quiet and peaceful, and superb unintrusive service. The restaurant serves wonderful Thai food, but apart from the lavish (included) buffet breakfast we ate at the many neighbouring beachside places because their prices were a fraction of the cost of Santhiya....albeit haphazard service and quality. My friends & I learned about Santhiya by accident while staying at another property in Samui. We booked our stay on a last min. booking site so were not originally offered the speed boat & did endure a rather bumpy ride to the resort. But we all felt like it was a wonderful part of the experience. Once we arrived, we were welcomed by the wonderful staff with cocunut drinks & aromatherapy towels. The Santhiya is under construction and will be a lovely hotel in a year or so, but avoid if possible for the time being. Bad start to the trip, but we went with the flow and went to the ferry dock got the local backpacker’s boat over, were greeted by a lovely truck at Kho Pangan after our speed boat was “not available due to mechanical failure”. Then hellishly jostled shaken and stirred for the next 50 minutes on dilapidated roads with giant fissures from heavy rains. I was most looking forward to staying at Santhiya. Its on a beautiful part of Ko Phangan -- an Island with little in the way of luxurious resorts. The facilities that currently exist are beautiful. The woodwork is incredible and everything is spotless. We stayed in a Bayfront Pool Villa and had an incredible view of the ocean and were very close to the main house.
