Room Mate Emma

I travel globally frequently for both business and pleasure (eg 125 nights in 2009) so tend to be quite familiar with good (and bad) properties and service when I see it. The Room mate chain and in this case "Emma" are a unique and refreshing concept in boutique hotels. It is very well located, walking district to most of the key sights and precincts and a metro station is one block away. Room mate Emma is a nice hotel in an all right location. It could be a couple of blocks closer to Plaza Catalunya, but the location is absolutely fine in any case. I spent a weekend at Emma with my spouse and we walked everywhere - no need to use public transport unlessa you really prefer to do that. The best about Emma is the super friendly and helpful staff - ask about restaurant recommendations, transport tips to airport, whatever you need! Very clean hotel. Staff helpfull and friendly, they went the exra mile to help us to locate our luggage which got lost on connection flight to Madrid

Room Mate Emma, with its "space ship like" charm in combination with its extremely friendly and helpful staff was absolutely worth the stay. The rooms were super clean and the sound system plus the ambience lighting were totally welcoming. The hotel is located close to some young and modern restaurants with average prices. This hotel is modern and stylish but friendly. Extremely good value for money as it includes free breakfast (up till 12 noon, effectively lunch for some!), free wi fi and is minutes walking from a metro (Diagonal). Room Mate is a small boutique chain and we have stayed with them in Granada, also a stylish central and modern (although in a very old Andalus building in Granada) hotel. Super location, close to everything. Stayed there for four nights, hotel staffs are helpful and friendly. The room space is ok, not big not small. Since this is a newly built hotel, everything is clean and new. I like the internet radio which has radio stations all around world. Wireless internet everywhere in the hotel! The breakfast is ok, no hot food though. The only problem is the shower door which doesn't stop water from going outside the shower area. I have to put down a lot of towels beneath the door in order to block water.... more

We liked the location - just a short walk away from the main tourist areas. It felt like a real neighborhood but with plenty of bars and restaurants. We especially liked the nearby grocery for snacks and drinks (liquor available). The metro is easy and the stop is nearby. Emma has a great staff, great breakfast bar, and is a great value with a funky IKEA style decor. Our room had an operating window which we really liked.

Good new hotel in central location. Can walk everywhere - surrounded by great shops, bars and restaurants. Staff give you a very warm welcome and are very helpful throughout stay. Very nice breakfast included in room rate.

Very nice executive room all in white and purple, sunny and confortable, but quite tinny and the bathroom was directly in the room ... no door no wall ... if you're not shy it's ok ! Very very good location, no need to take the underground at all. One 'bémol' : we had especially reserved a twin room with the understanding of the hotel but when we arrived, there was no possibility to get a twin !!! Thanx the receptionist, the gave us another couple's twin room ... hopefully we arrived early ...

I really liked Emma...I loved that it had free wi-fi and breakfast until noon (you will never appreciate it until you are in a hotel that serves free breakfast only until 10am)...and the location is superb...minutes away from Rambla Catalunya... Only comments...maybe room service or some kind of food available late night would be good..and the walls are paper thin.. all in all though...i loved it! I am staying there everytime i go to barcelona
