The Fabulous Ryad Watier
We recently stayed at Ryad Watier in Essaouira. We can honestly say that it was the best ryad we stayed in our 2 weeks in Morocco. The setting is beautiful, the rooms spacious and well decorated, the rooftop patio is spectacular (for breakfast), and best is the owner and host, Jean-Gabriel. He is gracious, helpful, fun to be with, and made our stay most enjoyable. He speaks several languages, including English. We highly recommend this ryad and Jean-Gabriel to fellow travelers. The perfect place in Essaouira
The first time i was here was with a friend of mine. We had the room with the terrace and it was perfect. The rooms are all bright and airy, the bathrooms are modern and clean and the bedsheets are very nice (Im really picky about my sheets). I loved taking breakfast on the roof and enjoying the view of the port and the tops of the houses. Jean Gabriel was a wonderful and gracious host. We stayed again a few weeks later when we were back in town after a bad experience at another hotel. Again we were in a lovely room with all the... more
Amazing Riad in a fab location
Hi, My boyfriend and I travelled to Morocco on the 22nd April to spend 6 nights in Essauoria and 3 nights in Marrakesh. We booked our holiday through a company called Naturally Morocco who i would highly recommend. On arriving at the Riad Watier we were impressed by the welcome from Jean Gabriel who showed us around the Riad and then bought us a beer to our room. He also ensured that we had fresh filtered water available. We stayed in the Fares suite which was on the first floor. I would higly recommend it as it was huge and had a seperate... more
Great riad, great destination
I stayed at Riad Watier for 2 nights in early April. This riad, and indeed Essaouira, was amongst the highlights of a week in Morocco. The riad was even more eye-catching in person than the photos on the website. On arrival Jean-Gabriel showed us to our room and gave us a tour of the amenities. It's a wonderful space, changing personality with the light at different times of the day. Our room was huge (we stayed in Suite Watier) and with our own private terrace. Breakfasts were great, and served on the terrace with the most beautiful... more
Lovely Riad with friendly and helpful staff
Riad Watier is a beautiful and well-run riad situated in the heart of the medina of Essaouira. The host, Jean Gabriel, was very helpful and attentive, making it a pleasure to stay there. He was also very helpful by email when we were booking our stay. Our suite (Cornut) was very spacious. We would definitely recommend staying in Riad Watier and will definitely stay there again when we return to Essaouira. Thanks Jean-Gabriel!
A great option for Essaouira...
Riad Watier is a great option for Essaouira - and is more competitively priced than many comparable riads in Marrakech (we stayed in the Pepe Rotto suite at EUR105 per night, for a double). The main pluses were: - The friendliness of the owner - we recommend joining him one night of your stay for dinner! - The tastefully designed suites - Breakfast on the roof - And the general laid-back atmosphere of Essaouira after the hectic nature of Marrakech!
Simply fantastic...
Being slightly apprehensive about staying for 14 nights, I wanted to make sure that my choice of accommodation would offer a relaxing, ambient and friendly environment. I made contact via email to arrange a transfer from Marrakesh Airport to Essauoria (3 hour taxi drive). I would highly recommend doing this as I got a good price through the Riad and could only imagine getting ripped off by the Marrakesh taxi drivers if I chose otherwise. Upon arrival at the Riad, we were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance and originality of the... more
Fantastic and Homey Ryad
We just returned from 3 nights in the Pere Jego suite at the Ryad Watier and greatly enjoyed our visit. The suite is a very large duplex with two bedrooms and a fireplace, and the ryad is very conveniently located in the heart of the medina. After Marrakech and Fes we figured the Essaouira medina would be easy to navigate upon arrival, but then got lost, so we would definitely recommend asking a baggage attendant in the parking lot to lead you to the ryad. Once there, it is an oasis of calm, with a library, sitting room, patio and rooftop... more
Great place
Just returned staying 2 nights at Ryad Watier with our 2 kids. After staying 5 nights at Sofitel hotel( which we didn't like) ,Ryad Watier was the perfect place to relax. Kids loved it too as it felt just like home. All the staff are extremly friendly, polite, very efficient. Delicious 3 course meals, lady cook was smiling all the time. My husband even got some lessons in cookery as he loved her food so much.We had Lakdar suite, really big room, our little girl had her room on upper level, which she really loved. Clean rooms, fresh white... more
