Parador de Ronda

Compared to a our stay at the Parador in the Alhambra in Granada two days ago this small and beautifully located Parador provides very friendly, efficient and quick service. Reception and room service: top marks. Excellent room service food which arrived within 10 minutes. Morning coffee arrived within 5 minutes at 8h15. we have stayed at this accomodation previously and always enjoyed staying here. The hotel affords stunning views of the gorge and is central to the town of Ronda. The rooms are of a good standard and the food in the restaurant in the evening is very good indeed albeit the atmosphere is rather formal. The rooms are comfortable and ours offered a balcony. Apparently the problem with "the smell" is not year round...but it is indeed a problem from time to time especially with the heat. The parador is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. If you can't deal with the bad smell outside, close the doors and turn on that great air conditioning. The sheets/bedding in these paradors are to die for. Take a dip in the pool or simply gaze out the window into the beautiful countryside. Ask the staff for anything you need. Stay at as many paradors you can because they are fantastic. We booked 2 nights at the parador, but checked out after the first night due to the overwhelming smell of sewage from the gorge below. It's so sad, the town of Ronda actually empties its sewage into the gorge! Then it just sits down there rotting, and the fumes come up the cliff and permeate the town. This also brings an inordinate amount of insects, so being outside is pretty miserable. The best view in the town. We had room 222 with a balcony overlooking the gorge. Room 221 has the best view with a wrap-around balcony.

It was our last night so we booked a duplex room for 200 euros and the room was fantastic on two floors with two balconys the one of the bedroom was very large with sunbeds and a table to sit around the views were wonderful, We could not fault it. We ate in the restaurant and the suckling pig was one of the best meals I have had EVER. We will return again and I advise anyone who is thinking of staying in this part of Andalusia to stay here and have the suckling pig, the whole stay was wonderful

Fabulous food and rooms - ask for a room overlooking the gorge and try the restaurant for very good local typical food.

We stayed at the Parador in Ronda in early Feb 2005, booked through the hotel website directly at -------------- and secured a rate of $149 Euros per night for a two level suite facing the famous gorge. We were very pleased with the accomodation. First level of the suite had a bathroom with shower, living room, and balcony. Second level had a full master bath with jacuzzi, master bed, and full sun deck opening onto a view of the hotel pool and canyon that was the same size as the bedroom. Ronda and the parador are a treat not to be missed. We had a room on the gorge and spent a relaxing weekend just soaking up the atmosphere. On Saturday at sunset we sat on our balcony and waved to wedding parties in horsedrawn carriages driving across the "new" bridge. I see from another review that I'm not the only one who got sick. I think it was the bottle of cheap red wine we bought from the local bodega, but I got to enjoy the music from the wedding reception at the restaurant across the street which went on most of the night. Stayed at the Parador in Ronda in September 2004. This Parador is a fantastic place to stay and very conveniently located in the centre of the town with easy access by foot to everywhere . Was gob-smacked by the views from some of the rooms overlooking the gorge. Unfortunately our room (Room 227) wasn’t one of them but I would certainly request a ‘gorge view’ next time.
