Memnon Hotel

The Memnon hotel was not the newest hotel we stayed in but it was the best. The management are friendly and helpful. . They took the stress out of traveling and put the fun back into our vacation. The hotel dinning area was wonderful. The view from their rooftop is the best view on the nile. It looks like something from a movie. The room was tidy and clean and there was plenty of hot water. The Memnon may not be the biggest hotel but it is the best budget hotel.

Based on glowing reviews we booked a one night stay at this hotel. We arrived after a gruelling 15 hour train ride from Cairo and shown room on third floor . Elevator was not working so did not check other rooms on 5th floor since we were exhausted. We assumed all rooms were equal.Our room was not very clean with pop bottle under bed and bathroom was very small with missing floor tiles, big open drain behind toilet with no cover,( think rats ), sink falling off wall and tiny shower. This is a very good value budget hotel, clean rooms, we got a room on the third floor overlooking the nile, excellent view. Staff are helpful but be careful when booking tours with them as they are very lax about the timing of the tours so you end up hanging round for hours waiting and be careful that you know exactly what you are getting for the price. Don't let the location of Memnon put you off, in a reasonably dirty alley but the location is so central for walking around Aswan and the bazaars. Would highly recommend it.

The 4 days we stayed at the Memnon hotel were really relaxing. It started with the pick up at the trainstation, no hassle with taxidrivers! The first night we had a room with great nile view!!! But because of the noise of the street (we had the windows open... don't like airco) we changed our rooms easily to the backside where it was quiet! During our breakfast we had the beautiful nile view! The staff is very helpfull and friendly! They arranged some nice trips, a last minute nile cruise. We stayed here two nights before going on a Nile cruise. The list is long for amenities that the hotel doesn't have : TV, phone, shower curtain, soap, shampoo, hairdryer, a refrigerator, and cleaning service between nights. However, this is a budget hotel, and I'm happy to go without all of the above, as long as we have the basics. The sheets were clean, the pillow was large and uncomfortable, the towel was tiny (maybe 12 in x 36 in?), but we had hot water and air conditioning, and that's all that really matters. This review will sound like I am exaggerating, but I am not. Please read on, as I also give some advice regarding a short stay in Aswan. This is a budget hotel, but you should expect nothing but the best in service! We just returned from a 2 week trip through Egypt, and stayed in a wide range of hotels- from the extreme budget to the luxurious Mena House in Giza. Having booked our stay at the Memnon, we are so glad we stayed here. 5 stars it is not however, it is very clean, well placed, with comfortable beds and air conditioning. The road noise was a little loud but fortunatly I had ear plugs and this was not a problem. Make sure you take in a sun set from the roof and make ure you take a few drinks up with you. Mohammed is the most helpful hostel owner in Egypt. He answers emails fast, no matter how many questions you have. Free pick up from the train, good prices on everything.

The owner Mohamed was extremely helpful and honest, sorting us out with fantastic excursions and a bargain cruise booking(without asking for a tip!). We had a fabulous time and would DEFINITELY recommend the Memnon to anyone planning a stay in Aswan.

Aswan was 5 th town after bad experience in Luxor ,we scare about people very much so we went to tourist information to ask for tour price after that we went to Memnon hotel ,at first I couldn't find entrance bec it 's behind the tower ,no lift in this hotel,old furniture but cleaned bed and toilet .Staffs were friendly and helpful ,they had a fix price and maybe cheaper than tourist infor tell us .Rooftop view was great when sunset but pool was not clean if you want to swim .
