Melia Kuala Lumpur

I stayed at the Hotel Melia in Kuala Lumpur for 9 nights from 10 March 2008. I chose the Melia due to it's location, and I was not disappointed. Surrounded by shopping centres and with a Monorail stop literally just outside the hotel, the Melia is the perfect base for a KL shopping/dining/exploring holiday. The hotel itself is a little tired, with some fixtures in the bathroom requiring attention, and the carpet was marked in some places. Clean room but very basic. Dirty windows. Breakfast buffet was large, but pretty standard food. Stayed there for 2 nights, I dont think I'll ever go back, there, though.

I stayed here for 2 nights on a business trip. I would give Melia KL a low 3-star rating. The location is fantastic - central and within the "Golden Triangle" area. It's across from Berjaya Times Square shopping mall and next to the Imbi Skytrain station. You walk 5-7 minutes to Bukit Bintang. I got one of those iRoom with internet access included. booked the hotel room via Internet; manage to get confirmation very quickly. upon check-in, i ask for reservation of room for another night of extension; i was told that the rates that it's the hotel regulation and policy that I must pay according to the rack price! which is more than 100% extra! may I say that the hotel management doesn't encourage their guest to extend their stays there..! thereafter i was told that the room given doesn't have the computer as claimed in the conformation sheet. luckily i brought my own laptop... more

I arrived at the hotel via the KL Express train and the monorail train which stops right beside the hotel (Imbi station). If you are using the KL Express, you need to walk outside the main building, cross the road and walk thru the covered bazaar to get to the monorail station. The train was standing room only and crowded but cost only RM 1.60 and took about 10 minutes. Fortunately, I had light luggage. I also took the monorail to KL Station when heading to the airport. I found the Melia great value for money. The rooms could do with a little upgrading and new towelling would not go amiss, but the rooms are very big. I was concerened that the traffic noise would prevent a good nights sleep but this was not the case. the staff were efficient and friendly, and the location was great for getting around the city

Our stay at Melia KL was pleasant. We stayed in both a standard room and a deluxe room. The stays were about 3 weeks apart and after 3 weeks we couldn't remember much difference between the rooms, other than the deluxe room may be a little newer. One convenient feature though is the deluxe room has an in-room electronic safe. The location is great with a monorail literally in front, and big malls nearby. Having the monorail outside adds to the choice of transportation during rush hour. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was great... more

Our family of four (2 x adults and 2 x teenage girls) stayed at Melia for three nights and our experience at the Melia was wonderful. When I booked the hotel I requested two adjoining rooms with a door, non-smoking and as high in the building as possible (as per the review by Don-Pedro from Perth). I must say all my requests were catered for. Melia is in a great location for getting around KL. The monorail is on the doorstep of Melia which is a cheap and fast way to get round the city (rush hour in a taxi is costly if the driver won't put the meter on!). The room was clean and a great size (we paid a little bit extra to have an executive room which meant we had loads of space to spread out). We stayed one night in the Melia in January 08. Hotel is great value for what it costs to stay there. They provided a complimentary non-alcoholic drink for both of us, and a complimentary newspaper in the morning. The room is a large size with a nice bathroom. The bed was the kingsize variety. Only complaint being that the rubber pillows are not the best to sleep on. The Times Square shopping centre across the road from the hotel is excellent.
