A Horrible Experience
We just came back from an enjoyable holiday in Puerto Vallarta. We did not stay at the Mayan Palace but after a few days of being harrassed by these time-share people we buckled and went to see the presentation. Bad mistake - the 90 minutes they told us it would take ended up taking half a day - what a waste. Half day wasted in our 1 week vacation. The icing on the cake was when we were insulted and humiliated by the time-share sellers because we did not want to buy. These guys were worse than the beach vendors - high pressure tactics... more
FAMILY FRIENDLY
My family stayed 11/3 to 11/10. One consideration from the East Coast is that you lose almost a full day to travel. We left our house at 5AM and arrived at the Mayan around 4PM. We checked in without incident and our room was ready. Two definitive No's and a do not bother me please ended all conversations with the timeshare sharks. We had a two bedroom lockout, the grandparents stayed with us in one section and we stayed in the other section with two kids ages 2 and 4. The room was clean upon entrance and it was cleaned everyday. The maid... more
Nice but not paradise
The Mayan Palace looks a lot nicer online than in person. We were there in Sept. 2003. No immaculant rooms or grounds, the rooms were average and clean. They claim we were there in "off season" and they were going through some "remodeling" and that it will look better in 2004. The nicest thing about our trip was a waiter named Edjuardo. He was great! Took care of us and gave us tips on where to go at no extra charge. He was very pleasant and "trustworthy". The worst thing about the trip was the time share sales people at Mayan. Oh my... more
Mayan Palace - forget it.
After many years absence I decided to return to my time-share home- the Mayan Palace, in Puerto Vallerta. Bad Choice. Ten Dollar( Canadian) dirinks at the pool), poisonous food, a day of throwing up and etc... from bad food at the pool bar was an explosive start to the vacation!! Couple that with dirty rooms/apartments, and ignored requests for a change of room and you have the start of a less than satisfactory holiday. It took two days for them to fix the safe, the phone would not allow outgoing calls, and the couchs were so filthy that I... more
The Worst !!!
We just returned from PV on 11/16/03. This was by far the worst experience we have ever had traveling in Mexico for over 15 yrs. It took 2 hrs to get our luggage after they insisted on taking it from us, our room was a view of the wall, the furniture is dirty and smelly. I asked for a hand towel and the maid said "give me a couple of minutes", I waited for 24 hrs! Service is terrible, pool is dirty, and the beach in front of the resort is awful. This place needs some major upgrading, they must be buying their gold crown status!!! Travelers... more
LOVED IT
My parents and a group of their friends got timeshares in the Mayan Palace. My family and I went last March and had a great time. The resort is beautiful, not too big. The people are all so friendly and speak english. I loved the rooms because my sister and I had our own separate room (it's a 2 bedroom suite). My family and I going back in March again this year and I can't wait!
Great stay except for timeshare presentation
The Mayan Palace is a great place to stay, as long as you can avoid the time share presentation. We were promised a 90 minute presentation including breakfast which turned into more than a 5 hour session, of high pressure tactics, and too good to be true promises. When we returned home and did a bit of research on the Web, we found many of the claims made by the sales rep were at best questionable. The resort is great for families, although the surf may be too much for smaller children. The pool was great for adults and kids. The... more
We had a good time
My husband and I took my 18 year old and a few of his friends to PV for their graduation. We stayed at the Sea Garden that is across the street from the Mayan Palace. The Sea Garden is once again under construction. There used to be water slides but they have been taken out. The rooms were clean and service was great. We had a couple of problems the first night but were corrected after I spoke to the manager. The operator was very rude, but after I spoke to the manager we were able to get the things we asked for in a very timely... more
Save your vacation!
My husband and I were "duped" into staying at this property in PV because of our friends who had purchased a $17,000 time share with Club Regina. When they spent that much money, they were given coupons to stay at other properties at ridiculously low rates and this place was one of them. They had a coupon which for $210.00 for 7 days, we each had our own one bedroom suite with Kitchenette. I had read the reviews given this hotel approximately 5 months ago and told my husband of my apprehension. Everything I read was true. The day of our... more
Pleasing stay at the Mayan Palace
We honeymooned at the Mayan Palace in Marina Vallarta (there is another Mayan Palace in Nuevo Vallarta.) Overall, we had a very nice time and the staff was excellent, very helpful. My only complaint was that bed and the sofa in our room were both kind of hard, and not that comfortable. Also, they made us wear plastic wristbands the whole week, and I found that very annoying. But the pool was very nice and the restaurant was good. And I loved the town of Puerto Vallarta, I would definitely return.
