Layana Resort and Spa

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a fabulous two weeks at this hotel! On arrival after a lengthy journey we were greeted with flowers and iced tea. Accomodation: Room big and very clean. Lovely huge shower and sunken bath. Proper goosedown duvet and pillows Food: Extensive buffet breakfast overlooking the sea, all beautifully cooked and served by friendly staff. We stayed at Layana Resort in February 2006. The hotel, the beach and the service were excellent. The room was big and very clean. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. In the evenings we enjoyed beautiful sunsets from the beach bar. In the mornings we had a fantastic breakfast in the restaurant located by the sea. Overall we would say this is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in.

The Layana was 5 star in all respects and an excellent value. My wife and I stayed there at the beginning of the low season. The weather was poor due to a large storm off the coast of China, bu the staff and management made sure our stay was excellent nonetheless. Service was 5 star. Food was delicious. Gym was excellent for a resort of their size. Pool is beautiful and the views from the beach are spectacular. The spa is of equivalent quality to some of the best in Asia (Four Seasons in Bali). The Layana was a fantastic boutique resort where you have first class service and I would definitely recommend it for people of all ages. I went with my girlfriend at the end of May 2006. Here is a brain dump of various points: Being a small privately-owned resort the staff are more than happy to cater for your every need. There English is very good. We chose Layana after hunting for the perfect beach retreat for our honeymoon whilst travelling to Thailand. After contemplating Phi Phi and Krabi amongst others, we decided on Koh Lanta and stumbled across Layana - thankfully! The pictures on the website paints the true image of the resort! Everything is exactly as it's shown! We stayed in the Garden Pavillion which was a stone's throw away from the pool, but everything is within a few minutes walk within the resort so facilities can be enjoyed. I fell in love with layana resort when i surfed the net looking for a nice resort for my holiday. Tthe pictures posted on their website is exactly what i experienced when i was there. The staff are really friendly and helpful; service was great. They recommended some places to have dinner near the hotel; and it seems that they read our minds. We spent four days at the Layana in March 2006. We had reserved a garden room (the standard room) but the hotel upgraded us to an ocean villa because there was a large group (around 40-50 people, I believe) staying at the resort on two of the three nights we were there. Overall, we felt the hotel bent over backwards to try to make our stay pleasant. We had a wonderful, relaxing week here in March 2006. The hotel was exactly what we were looking for - boutique, excellent facilities, friendly staff and gorgeous beach.The arrival by speed boat from the airport was a nice touch. We'd traveled from NYC to Bangkok and one day later were on our way to Ko Lanta so were far from relaxed, but the moment we were greeted at Layana with an orchid lei and drink, our moods reversed and a heavenly vacation had begun. Their driver picked us up at the Krabi airport and got us to the hotel efficiently. We spent 5 weeks in Thailand, visiting 4 different resorts. Of the resorts we stayed at Layana was in a class of its own. I would recommend this resort to anyone who want to relax and enjoy the nice weather and beatifull sunsets that Koh Lanta can offer. Layana is a brand new resort.
