We stayed at the Atolon for a week from October 3rd 2011 and greatly enjoyed it. The food was of a very good standard and variety but we did wish it was warmer. It is a pity after all the hard work of the chefs is spoilt by it being cold when put on the plates. If the... more

Average holiday hotel in beautiful beach front position
This hotel has a prime position on the edge of the beach with lovely views and needs to maximise this. The place is outdated and desperately needs a re-vamp; carpets are old and stained, towels all very clean but also showing signs of age; single wardrobes in some rooms so lacking proper hanging space for clothes; we were not happy to discover there was a daily charge for fridge and air conditioning, there was no mention of extra charges on the information downloaded from the internet which stated room facilities included these items; no fridge in room initially so we had to request this; when it arrived that too was very old and stained but the inside was clean although the fridge door had sellotape across it to stop bottles falling out. We found the staff very cheerful and willing to helpful; rooms were cleaned daily. Food was adequate but very unimaginative. Unfortunately wewould not go back to the Atalon Hotel unlesss we knew it had been totally re-furbished and updated which is a shame because of its prime position.
atolon grows on you
visited atolon after seeing reviews on trip advisor, hotel clean but basic.twin beds pushed together, i had the squeaky, rattly one, but got used to it by end of holiday.food average, surprised to have to pay for water at evening meal, but cheap enough to eat out at cala bona/millor if you want a change.location makes this hotel, quiet when we went, a bit too quiet in an evening. sunbeds could do with upgrading but no doubt you would then be charged for them like most things in the hotel (even books that people had left).waiters and waitress very friendly, met lots of lovely people which made the holiday, older age group appear to return year after year.bear in mind there is no lift in main part of hotel when booking your holiday (but there is a lift in the other part ), did see people struggling to get up and down the stairs. atolon is like a pair of comfortable shoes the longer you stay the more it seems to fit, great place for chilling out and unwinding.
unimpressed
I cannot believe some of the reviews about Atolon. The hotel was certainly passable in that it was clean, provided adequate food and the restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. However, to call this hotel "paradise" is over the top to say the least. For instance, the pool is small and over-crowded; the night "entertainment" is dire and warbled on a few nights a week from 9 - 12, which was utterly painful; and the maid forgot to come into our room one day and so our beds weren't made and we came back to a bathroom of soggy towels. When we informed reception about this, they were unhelpful and dismissive. I was so unimpressed. I would not recommend the resort either... It is so English-ised that it felt more like being in Leicester Square in London than Majorca. I have nothing against English cups of tea, bisto gravy, pie and chips etc etc but when you're in a different country there's something not quite right about ALL the restaurants bragging that their menu contains ONLY food from England. The beach, too, was overcrowded. It's so narrow that people are literally crawling on top of each other in their hunt for the sun. My advice: choose a different resort. Or, if you're set on Cala Bona, choose a different hotel.
Loved the Atolon
We booked the Atolon as a last minute family holiday and its was certainly value for money, I wasn't too sure about going Half-board, but the food was excellent, even for my picky husband!! We opted to have the air conditioning which was 3 euros a day. Rooms were clean and visited by a maid every day. Suitable for families with small children and couples. We would definitely visit again.
brilliant
We stayed in this hotel from 21 Aug 2007 for 14 nights. The rooms were a bit small, but very clean and they were cleaned every day. The hotel itself was very clean and the food was excellent. The service from all staff was friendly and well organised. The food was lovely. Some reviews said the food was basic, but I disagree there was plenty of choice for everybody. There is now air conditioning if you want it at 3 euros a day. The views from the pool are perfect, overlooking the sea. Overall, we felt this was a very pleasant holiday and mostly thanks to the service of the hotel. We would certainly consider going to Cala Bona again and would book in again at Hotel Atalon.
Fantastic Atolon
We have just returned from the Hotel Atolon. What a holiday. It was fantastic. The hotel is small and family run. It is split on two sides of a pedestrian promenade with the pool and hotel facilities based within the seaside building. We were accommodated in the other building, which was great. The room was located to the side of the building but we still had a sea view from our balcony. At night it was really quiet and the beds were so comfortable. The hotel room had a ceiling fan, desk top fan and hairdryer for guest use. Air conditioning and safety deposit boxes were available for 3 Euros per day/each. We opted for both and boy what a difference the air conditioning made, the euros were well spent. The average daily temperature was between 31 and 35 degrees. We have two children of 10 and 5 years and they thoroughly enjoyed their stay, the hotel is popular with families so they entertained themselves all day, every day (we never felt the need to use the beaches close by). The hotel is located smack bang in the middle of Cala Bona and Cala Millor so the beaches, restaurants and bars are easily at hand. We booked half board and there was a wide selection of foods to suit all palates. There are two bars, one indoor and one pool bar. Entertainment is provided four nights per week. There is a lovely underground walkway between the two buildings which we did not find until near the end of our holiday, but it was like walking through a museum with glass cases containing relics of the past, this led at one end to the games room and the other the entrance of our building. We left the hotel before the breakfast service began, but a pre order continental breakfast service is offered by the hotel with 24 hour notice, which was great. Since returning home we have already looked to book and return to the Atolon same time next year, only next time we would book to stay for two weeks rather than one!
Excellent location
Me and my boyfriend have just come back from our holiday staying at the Atolon Hotel. Overall we were very pleased with the hotel, the location was excellent, situated in the middle of Cala Bona and Cala Millor. Bars, shops, beaches etc were only a short walk either way from the hotel. The hotel is in two parts just across from each other, either side of the pedestrian walk way. We weren't in the main one but it wasnt a problem for us and they are only a few metres apart. The room was nice and clean, but only a few rooms have a sea view so its worth asking for if you can get it. There was a ceiling fan and a desk fan in the room and you can pay 3 euros a day to have the air con although we were fine with the ceiling fan on all night as it was very quiet. You can also rent a fridge, tv and safety deposit box. We were half board and each night there was a large selection of food, which was always very nice. The hotel was small and staff were friendly and helpful, and there was entertainment on every other night. The hotel has a swimming pool and a small section for children, it is right next to the sea so the views are lovely. I would recommend this hotel, we really enjoyed our stay and would stay there again if we came back.
Excellent Atolon :-) xxxxx!!!
We stayed at the Atolon for seven nights on 15th June 2007 and a a fantastic holiday. Although the hotel was a small 3 star it still nonetheless has a good reputation, which based on our experience is a justifiable view. Our ratings out of 10 would be: Reception: 9/10 Pool & Poolside: 9/10 (plenty of beds but not many with) Outside Bar: 7/10 Entertainment: 7/10 Lounge: 7/10 Internal Bar: 4/10 (rarely open) Restaurant service: 8/10 Restaurant food: 7/10 (limited choice but good quality) Room Cleaning: 9/10 Room Decor 7/10 Overall: 8/10 Some minor criticisms are that you have to pay for air conditioning and the use of a fridge. The small charge sould be included in the overall price as it would only make a difference of about 60 euros for a week! There are no TV's in the rooms although, again, you can hire if necessary. There is a large plasma in the lounge where the news can be wtached regularly and as they have Sky they will change the channel for any programme. Internet provision is also in the lounge where there are two broadband PC's. If you are taking a car be warned that parking takes place in one street back and you have pull you case down a short alley. Remember that you should park yourcar on the left side of the one way system and that you should not park on a yellow - you can be booked and camped (120 euros). Would we go back? Well YES and we hope to in ealry September!!!
paradise
just got back from the hotel atolon, it was fantastic, the view from the pool was fabulous, the hotel was lovely and clean, the staff were very friendly, the hotel is situated right on the promonade inbetween cala bona and cala millor which meant that we were within walking distance of boyh resorts, we stayed half board and the food was basic but good variety, cala bona is a lovely resort loads of cafes and bars you cant go wrong with any of them. if i have one moan it is that the transfer is a long one ours was 2 hours but all coaches were air conditioned and it wasnt to bad. will definatly go back next year
excellent atolon
With 2 teenagers we visited the atolon last year for the second time. Ideally situated between quieter cala bona and 10 minutes walk to a wider variety of shops and night life in calla millor the resort has something for all ages. The atolon is a smaller friendly family run hotel with excellent food. The rooms are the usual mallorcan style with fans and fridge hire available which I would recommend. The pool area is very relaxing, looking out over the sea with steps to a small sandy area[not quite large enough to call a beach] and rocks which my husband and son found ideal to swim and snorkel from although care must be taken. we are returning again as we found many guests did. Do not be put off by the brochure description of 'two connecting hotels' either accommodation is ideal. At the atolon small definitely is friendly.
