Atolon

After being to the resort of Cala Bona for the 14th time, we decided to change accommodation, and WOW, what a surprise. You can not fault this hotel at all if you want a quiet and peaceful holiday.
Hotel itself is very very clean, the staff are fab, the rooms are basic but very well maintained.
We went half board and the choice of food was fantastic. We can not fault this hotel and would definitely visit again. I would not give this hotel 3* it’s got to be worth 4* without a doubt.
The rep's were not around that much. But were never required because the people were all so friendly and full of local knowledge.
The entertainment was only twice a week but there is plenty to do locally.
And my only advise would be hire a car and visit the whole island the sights are wonderful.
Special mention, you have to visit the safari park. Love the animals but don’t hire a cabriolet or you likely to get little fingers under the roof from the monkeys!

The hotel is in a great location with access to many restaurants and bars within a very short distance. The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly also the accommodation is very clean this includes all bar and pool areas, all in all I think the hotel Atolon is at the top end of the 3* scale, only fault there is air con in the main hotel area but only fans in the rooms!

My Mother and I, as well as my Grandfather and his partner spent a fantastic week at the Hotel Atolon in July. We found the food to be of fantastic quality, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the entertainment was of a high standard.
It is very close to local shops and bars, but not too close for there to be a problem with any noise. The highlight has got to be the location of the hotel. It was amazing to see the waves crashing up onto the rocks. We enjoyed ourselves that much that we returned in October 2005. I would recommend this hotel to anybody.

We arrived at 10.30pm. Check in was very quick and friendly. As we arrived late a buffet supper was provided which was very nice. The room was adequate for 2 adults and 1 child. The breakfasts and dinners were really good and considering it is a small hotel there was a good choice.
The pool area is clean and spacious. The only problem we found was that towards the end of our second week it got really busy and finding a vacant sunbed and parasol was difficult. To add to this problem there were a lot of non-residents using the pool area and took up quite a few of the sun loungers. Another problem with the loungers was that they were not adjustable, therefore, quite uncomfortable to sit and read.
The bedrooms are NOT air-conditioned and as the temperature was never below 30 degrees was very uncomfortable. There was a ceiling fan and a desktop fan, these were running constantly and the patio doors were open all the time, but it was still very difficult to sleep. It must be worth the owners time and money to install air conditioning units.
A fridge can be hired for 2.50 euros a day, this is a must for water and juices for children.
The entertainment was a bit ropey. The karaoke was ok, a group played twice when we were there and were good, but the rest was really bad. All the staff were very helpful and friendly.
The rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels daily. We were in the building opposite the main reception, our room faced the promenade and was great as we were in the shade in the afternoon.
There is a great Spar shop run by an English lady and her Spanish husband. They are both lovely and will make up sandwiches and rolls to take away for lunch. You can also exchange books and magazines for free (the hotel charge 1 euro for books left behind by previous guests). To get to the Spar, from the main doors of the hotel, there is a lane going up the side of the other building, go up the lane, turn left, pass Toms Bar and the Spar is just there.
We really enjoyed the hotel. It has the best location on the beach front (all be it very rocky). It was lovely to sit in the evening watching the moon rising over the sea. Cala Bona is just minutes in one direction and Cala Millor in the other.
I would go back but not without AIR CONDITIONING.

This holiday was excellent. The only downfall was no air conditioning, and it was a very hot summer. Although there was a ceiling fan and a desk top fan it was not good enough. We hired a fridge, which means the electric runs all day anyway, so surely this must be as expensive as proper air conditioning. Lack of good sleep wasted this holiday!
The food was fantastic, the location couldn’t have been better,
the cleanliness was excellent, the staff all lovely. NO FAULT EXCEPT AIR CONDITIONING.
Would come back, but not at the height of summer!!
