Lago di Garda

We live in Australia and were invited to attend our (English) nephew's wedding which was to take place in a village called Malcesine in the North of Italy. We are senior citizens with a sense for adventure and decided that we would accept the invitation and set about making our travel arrangements. This was my first visit to Italy and this hotel left me with a great impression. The staff were very friendly and as my Italian is'nt great I was pleased they spoke perfect English. Francesco the head waiter was particularly helpful as was the owner. My partner and I were on an organized tour and when we got left behind on an excursion the owner arranged for a car for us! The hotel had been refurbished in Summer 2006, and the standard of refurb is excellent. Comfortable, spacious, great plumbing, and spotless with great room service each day, and air conditioning. Some rooms have balconies, and the rooms at the front of the hotel (as we were) are lighter, and they overlook the square. We came across this hotel during our tour around Lake Garda and decided to stay for four nights. All the hotel staff were so friendly and the owner, Marianne, was delightful. The hotel is right in the centre of Malcesine, with views of both the lake and Mt Baldo from our balcony. As the hotel was completely renovated in 2006, everything in the hotel is modern and been completed to a high standard. We would highly recommend The Lago di Garda as a base to explore the lake

My husband, mother and I stayed at this hotel In August 2006 and found it to be perfect for our needs. In 2005 we had stayed at the Excelsior Bay Hotel in Malcesine and every evening walked into the centre of Malcesine and invariably ended up having a drink in the bar of the Lago di Garda which is right in the centre. We enjoyed the atmosphere much better than at the Excelsior Bay and decided that should we return to the resort we would book to stay at the Lago di Garda.
