La Pensione Svizzera

We (myself and my girlfriend) stayed 4 nights in Svizzera. Booked a room with seaview directly on the hotel website for Euro 105 per night. Our room was nice and cosy, although a bit small (but within 3* standards). Bathroom is small as well, but completely renovated. We had a small balcony with 2 plastic chairs and a nice view. La Pensione Svizzera match our expectations in every way. I highly recommend it to anyone traveling in Sicily. Great breakfast and professional staff.

Svizzera presents great value for the price. Taormina is a lovely town with a steady flow of tourists. As a result, prices are high. Finding a moderately priced hotel is not as easy as in other parts of Sicily. The hotel doesn't have a lot of charm, but is perfectly serviceable. We were not too sure what to expect when we arrived in Taormina as we only had a little information about the hotel that we had booked online. We were greeted with incredible views from our room out over the Mediterranean and north towards Messina. Our room was very clean and well presented. The service both at the front desk and in the Dining Room for breakfast was both friendly and professional. If you are staying in Taormina, this hotel makes an excellent choice: Clean, hospitable, wonderful views, well located, offers parking, great breakfast buffett. The only negative is that there is no elevator, so if you are staying on the upper floors, be prepared for the steps!

La Pensione Svizzera, Taormina is a little gem. Well located near Corso Umberto with its many restaurants and shops, as well as handy for the funicular to the beach, it proved an excellent good value choice for our holiday. Run with Swiss precison, but fronted by friendly, helpful staff - the best of both worlds. Revamped rooms, with clean up-to-date bathrooms, and stunning views from the rooms on the seaview side from 2nd floor upwards. We stayed in Svizzera for a week. We had a room on the third floor for the first few nights and the view was to die for, absolutely amazing. We then moved upstairs to the fourth floor where we had a room with a terrace which was also great. Staff are friendly and business like, rooms are very clean and modern and breakfast was ample, with lots to chosse from. Lovely hospitable pension. The breakfast room has lovely views of the sea. Friendly staff who spoke excellent English. Rooms are basic but adequate, the bathroom had been renovated. Good value for money in a convenient location. Call or email them to organise a parking spot. I would definately stay here again.

I stayed here last summer. So did about 6 million of the mosquitos in Taormina. I got bitten to the point that I had to seek medical attention. Also, the rooms face out to a quiet little road which becomes like a grand prix track at night for all of the teenagers on their (very noisy) scooters. Or maybe that was just the sound of the mozzies! Very very poor for the money I paid. Go to Bel Soggiorno instead- beautiful.

I stayed at the Pensione Svizzera for two nights at the end of November 2004. I was traveling with my mother and sister and we were delighted with the choice of this hotel. Yes, the stairs are a bit much - especially when checking in with all of the bags - but honestly, our view was unbelievably beautiful and worth every step I took to get up there.
