GREAT budget hotel in Aswan that can't be beat!
This is a great budget hotel. The rooms and bathroom are spotless. The only minor complaint is that there is hardly any warm water, but that's the norm for most budget hotels in Egypt, I heard. The cleaning ladies make your bed, put out new towels and sheets daily. Th hotel is also centrally located. We were a few minutes walk away from restaurants, shops, and the souq. And the price! You definitely can't beat that! However, I think the best part of Keylany is the helpful, friendly staff. Their service is really five star-quality! They are... more
Excellent budget option
This hotel is excellent for the price you're paying. Location is great - easy walking distance to the souks and Nile-front restaurants. Rooms are basic but clean; we even had a fridge in our room. The shower is indeed tiny, and it's quite difficult to get out of the way of the water flow if you need to shampoo your hair, for example! The front desk staff were very helpful in arranging trips - decent prices, and not pushy at all. The mineral water in the fridge at reception is very reasonably priced.
Lovely place w/ friendly people
Keylany hotel is an awesome place especially considering the bargain basement prices. Centrally located, friendly service.. you couldn't ask for more. Only negative was that the shower in the bathroom was really really tiny.
Nice budget place for Aswan
This hotel is located centrally in Aswan, on a street going up from the nile boulevard. Aswan isn't all that noisy as it is, but it's close enough to be no problem at all one way or the other. To get from street level to the actual hotel, you'll have to climb up about 20 dodgy steps, or take a little dirt road through the souq. The rooms are pretty small and come with a rather cramped bathroom. Ameneties such as telephone and a fridge are provided. A set breakfast (included, toast, jelly, pancake etc.) is served on the roof of the... more
A great budget hotel
We were very happy with this hotel. We arrived on an early morning flight, and they let us into our hotel room at 9AM. Service was excellent. Very friendly deskstaff with local knowledge. They only offered tours when we asked about them, which was a refreshing change from the pushy tour operators at other hotels. That said, their trip to Abu Simbel was cheaper than anywhere else we could find, in a comfortable minibus. The room was clean with a safe in the room. Shower was a little small, but had plentiful hot water. Good location about a... more
Cheap and pleasant
My wife and I stayed for a couple of nights in July, 2007. This cheap hotel turned out to be a very nice choice. The room had been recently refreshed and was particularly clean. The decent price (merely 80 EGP) includes an individual bathroom as well as an excellent breakfast which was served on the roof terrace; staff was kind and helpful. Beverages may be purchased at a reasonable price as well - for instance, 2 EGP for a big bottle of mineral water. In addition, the hotel proposes a number of excursions. We took the "felouque" tour - up... more
Your best choice
Good, what u would like all budget hotels to be. U will repeat...at least I will next time in Egypt, before going for serious stuff in Sudan.
Budget travellers will like it
A budget hotel in a hidden street in town centre, two blocks from the Nile Corniche; no traffic noise. Friendly staff, speak English. trips arranged. Clean rooms, soft beds, a/c, en-suite, all a bit spartan. Back packers will appreciate a room for two , including breakfast on the roof terrace , and all for a total of £9 We came by train on a side trip from Luxor; and travelled light, , but found it cold night and morning even though further south.
Cheap, professional hotel
An excellent, cheap, clean hotel right in the middle of Aswan. Small, basic rooms with a cramped bathroom, but this was made up by really friendly, informative staff who were not at all pushy about their tours (very unusual in Egypt). We did do the trip to Abu Simbul and it was cheap and well organised in an air-conditioned minibus and they give you your breakfast in a box to take with you which is fantastic. The rooftop area is lovely and we would stay here again.
Will stay here again
We stayed here while in Aswan. It is a three star hotel. It was very clean, the staff was A+ and beyond helpful. They offered tours but you are not pressed to sign up. The bathroom was very small but functional. The breakfast comes with the room and you have it on the roof top terrance which is done up very nicely. The breakfast consisted of bread, tea lemon juice, and a cross between a pancake and a crepe that was fantastic. I would stay here again.
