Kai Bae Garden Resort

We arrived at Kae Bae Garden Resort on 11th January 2009 and stayed nine nights. We planned only five nights in this Resort but were enjoying it so much, therefore we stayed another four! Didn't book beforehand just called in after looking around the whole of the west coast of Koh Chang. This accommodation was absolutely fabulous!!! We stayed in a room with swimming pool view. What a beautiful place and such great finish to our Asia tour....this is not a "beach resort"...but it is only across the road from the beach. The place itself is a knockout! A beautiful jungle garden...I felt like I was in a Tarzan movie (but in a nice way). The room was immaculate and we had an 'artwork' of fresh towels everyday...we were poolside and only a few steps from this great "endless" pool...which flows over the sides and is fed by a waterfall. We arrived off the ferry in Koh Chang and headed for White Sands with no place to stay. Grabbed an emergency room and then set off the next day on a motorbike to find the best beach and resort on the island. Decided Kai Bae had the right mix of life without being Thailand's answer to Magalluf (that would be White Sands.) Of course wanted something 'on the beach' but was disappointed with what was available - either big resort style or poor quality older bungalows. We stayed at the Garden Resort as the final step of our honeymoon in Dec 2008 for 8 nights. Prior to arriving in Thailand, we'd had quite a lot of contact with Mause the owner who ensured everything was perfect for our arrival. We arrived early, they offered us a free drink whilst they checked our room. On checking in, we had a bottle of champers waiting for us. Our room overlooked the lovely pool. Can't say enough nice things about KB Garden resort and the people who run it. From the moment we arrived at the Trat ferry, suitcases and kids in tow, management and staff did everything they could to help us get the most out of our stay. Scratch that - they began doing that BEFORE we arrived, advising us on which specific cottages were right for our needs, how we could transfer funds, etc etc. The property itself is gorgeous, the rooms (cottage-like affairs, each with a little sitout) are kept spotlessly clean. I have just returned from a stay at the Garden Resort and can thoroughly recommend the place to anyone looking to stay in Ko Chang. The bungalows are large, clean and very comfortable. Yes, there are mosquitos, but they are everywhere in Ko chang! We did not find the music at the restaurant opposite a problem, the band was always finished by 11pm. The bungalows are opposite the road leading to the beach and the walk is no more than 2 mins. The swimming pool is lovely and was always empty. We stayed at the Garden Resort in January 2008 with friends and rented out two huts. The rooms were nicely decorated and clean (except our bathroom was full of mosquitos when we arrived). Overall our stay was disappointing which we also informed the resort of. Pricewise both the rooms and the restaurant were not competitive – for example restaurants directly by the beach were charging less and served food of a higher quality. The resort was being advertised as quiet which it certainly was not when the band in the restaurant... more

The fantastic service we recieved at The Garden began from the time of booking. They helped us get information on how to get there from Bangkok and even booked it for us. Rooms are large,clean and comfortable, include fridge and good sized TV and internet access was provided which worked well. All the surrounding gardens are immaculately kept and the salt water pool was a welcome change after swimming in chlorinated pools and spotless and able to make full use at our leisure. I stayed here for 10 nights in August and found this resort fantastic. Its new, the rooms are large with a large bathroom. Lots of channels on the big TV. Very good air-conditioning. Free internet at the bar and there is also internet in the rooms. This resort has a very relaxed atmosphere and the staff and management could not be friendlier or more helpful. It has beautifully landscaped gardens and a great pool. I can not fault this place. I had looked at a number of resorts in the area on the internet and during my stay I went to see them... more

From the moment we made contact with the resort by e-mail, all our questions were answered to our satisfaction and we felt confident that our reservation would be ready when we arrived. We were not disappointed. The quality of the resort was superb, Thai style hospitality and friendly staff, together with European standards of maintenance and cleaning. Our air conditioned bungalow style rooms were spotless and fresh smelling, with thorough cleaning every day. Unique features (particularly the Bathrooms) set these modern bungalows apart... more
