I went on holiday with my husband three children (9,4and 18 months) my mum and dad for 2 weeks.
We book this place as we thought it catered for children. After looking at the web site I was pleased, but when we turned up we had no cot so had to wait till morning my daughter had to sleep in her pushchair.
The rooms are very clean and the apartments have a lot of room but the steps upto the balcony are very steep.
If you are not that fit then is complex is no good as the hills are very steep and after a few drinks it’s a lot harder (as my mum found out).
The pools are all ok but the water is cold, around the pools are very clean.
The food is ok if you like soup and all the meat is cook in sauces, there was nothing for the kids as the kids food all runs in July and august (which we found out of 11days of are holiday).
The kids club was ok for my 4year old but my 9year old was board most of the time.
The evening entertainment was alright for adults but some of it was very sick for children.
The bar staff can be very fun about drinks as I only drink schnapps, but was told they don’t do it as it costs too much money, after going to the shops to buy a bottle it cost me under 5 Euros which is not a lot.
You can get a bus into town which takes about half an hour, it is nice, and so is the beach.
There is a shop on site, it opens for a couple of hours each day, and that is it you can just walk to any as there is none anywhere.
If you like meeting different people from around the world that are very unpleasant then it’s ok but we were all very fed up by the end of the two weeks.
There isn’t a lot more to say but I will not go back here again.

This was a last minute cheap holiday; I booked the accommodation with youtravel.com and then the flights with easyJet.
We were very pleased with the holiday. The food was great, the accommodation although basic (which is what you expect for the money), was very clean the staff friendly and we met some fab people there.
You can go into Arenal for 1.45euros where you will find shops, restaurants etc.
There is a fab sports bar there where we had many laughs.
I would definitely recommend this place and will definitely be going back!

Everything was better than expected, we were with the group of 12 (age between 4-72) and everyone absolutely enjoyed the holiday. Will get back there next year.
Even if I try, I can not think of anything negative. Staff was superb, activities great, food unbelievable, pools great everything really great.
We've been traveling around the world, staying in 5+star hotels but this was above everything. Rooms were not so fancy as in better hotels but clean, nice and everything worked well. Very nice surprise all together.

I visited this hotel as an after exams treat and what a treat it was!
The weather was extremely hot and the 3 pools were brilliant to relax by and cool down in, however there were not overly many shady areas and i got burnt on the first day!!
I was a bit sceptical about the food as the hotel was only 2*, but the food was absolutely brilliant i could not fault it, it was hot plentiful and delicious. The drinks were also great with it being all inclusive you could obviously drink all day however alcoholic measures were very large!
The accommodation was basic, but very clean and the beds were comfortable. However without air conditioning the rooms were at times unbearably hot and you couldn’t open the window as they were large enough for some one to easily climb through!
The entertainment was really good, especially good for families. The one thing i will however mention is that at the time of our visit we were the only English people staying there, so if you want to meet people this hotel certainly isn’t for you, there are plenty of French and Belgium people and a few Dutch and Germans but no English! Entertainment was good though because it was mostly all in English!
All in all a great holiday, I would thoroughly recommend it to those seeking a warm poolside holiday with plenty of food and drink.

An overall good holiday however not suitable for people wanting good nightlife. Be warned if you do not like Germans don’t choose Sun Club El Dorado as it is very overrun by them.
There is no free transport, however there is a bus service which you have to pay for. It is situated on the coast, however there is no beach it is just cliff (there is a bus service to the beach). The night entertainment is good for families (and glamorous grannies!!). There are 3 good-sized swimming pools and plenty of other activities.

The wife, 2 kids, and I had a great time at El Dorado.
Because it was in school term there wasn't many kids about, which put the pressure on me. i.e Tennis 2-3 times a day. Which the calves were tightening by the hour. There was no queuing of any sort i.e., drinks playing golf, tennis eating and plenty of room in the 3 pools. [one of which is heated].
The food was ok but not much variety and was catered more for the Germans, French etc. Saying that if you’re not a fussy eater no problems.
The entertainment in the evening was mixed, some really good nights. Others poor. If you don’t have any kids I would go elsewhere as its geared for them.
Most of the bar staff were very helpful and the entertainment worked very hard to keep everyone happy.
The downside is, there no beach on the site. It’s just a cliff edge. But there’s a bus every half hour into town [20 mins] if you want the beach. The English were a minority when we were there. Which I didn’t mind, cos if there was any swearing. We couldn’t understand it.
All in all I would go back.
