InterContinental Presidente Puerto Vallarta

This hotel was everything that I had read. I will grant you the bed was a little hard and the place had a little wear. But remember they do have hurricanes come through every so often. About the bed being stiff it was, but after drinking and eating myself into a coma the bed was bearable. The water at this end of the bay was spectacular. The Los Arcos national park is so close. Just got back from our trip to Puerto Vallarta and stayed at the President Intercontinental for 7 days from the 24th of July through the 31st . Let me start by saying that I researched the all the hotels in PV using this website because none of my friends had been there before so I really didnt have any experience with any of the hotels in PV. After spending 5 nights at the Westin Regina then transferring to the Presidente, my husband and I were very disappointed with this hotel. I felt the web site was misleading about the room floor, service was spotty and the rooms and furniture need big time updating. There is very little information given between standard, deluxe and superior. We just returned from Puerto Vallarta. Our experience at the Presidente couldn't have been better. We were a bit worried due to the fact that we changed our vacation plans the day before the trip, due to hurricane Claudette. We were going to Cancun originally. It worked out for the better. We brought our two daughters. The views were simply beautiful and the service was top notch. The staff is friendly and eager to please. Our trip to Purto Vallarta was GREAT!!! Staying at El Presidente made the vacation complete. They staff is great and the atmosphere is excellent (very relaxing). The food was delicious!!!!!!!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who likes to be pampered and wants to relax. You will definitely have a good time. p.s. If you want to do activities, do not buy them at the hotel. Best beach in PV - clear turquoise water, private white sand beach that was smoothed out every morning, then a message (e.g. "Buenos Dias") written in the sand to read from your balcony. Presidente was great: the food, drinks - all were good, and served quickly with lots of smiles. The staff never acted as though they expected their well-earned tips, but do tip them, they go above and beyond to please. The hotel was great. Everyone was eager to please and the restaraunt people were amazing! We were there 4 days, and they knew us by name almost instantly. There are 3 places to eat: pool bar where you can get a hamburger, hot dog and chips, (and drinks while in the pool). Then there is a buffet style restaurant off to the side of the pool. I just came back from a week at the Intercontinental Presidente, it was great. I took the advise from the postings and they were very accurate. The hotel has excellent service and clean and spacious rooms. The view from the balcony was stellar, you see the sunset every day. The hotel is on the south side of the Banderas bay, away from the "malecon" and Puerto Vallarta's small downtown. I stayed the week of June 30 - July 5 and the hotel was not crowded at all (at the most 6 people at the beach/pool at any given time). The food was OK... more

All I have to say is that every other review about this hotel is accurate. We just got back from our honeymoon there and it was nothing less than perfect. Get the all inclusive. We did and it was worth it for the drinks alone. Bottom line, this palce is secluded away from town, but close enough at the same time.
