Iberostar Paraiso Maya

My wife and I just returned from a week's stay at the Maya and we are very impressed. Do not believe some of the other reviews, this is *not* a resort under construction (yes they are building a golf course but I didn't hear of see a single thing related to that all week, there is a small jungle between the resort and whatever they are doing there). My wife and I just returned from a business/leisure trip to the Iberostar Maya and had a great time. We have traveled to several locations in the Carribean including Breezes in Curacao and two different Iberostar's in Mexico. The Maya will prove to be an excellent resort but we are only giving it a four out of five at this time since it is still somewhat under construction. Just got back this weekend from the Maya. What a place, as others have mentioned it is just beautiful no matter which way you look. You always see someone cleaning. Our maid was great. she had the mini fridge stocked with our favorite drinks made the towel animals which was very nice. Room was very large and very clean. came with large tv dvd(never Used) and a large jacuzzi, which was drawn for us on a few occaisions.room and sevice a1. location of room- main floor near maid serice and help desk. My wife and i just returned from our holiday in Playa.We were booked to stay at the Lindo,but on our arrival were asked if we would like a free upgrade to the Maya and of course we accepted.I wont ramble on about this resort only to say that unless you are EXTREMELY picky you will love this place.the Maya&Lindo share most facilities,pools,restaurant,etc.Although we didnt stay at the Lindo it looks equally impressive.We found the food at both the buffet&alacarte restaurants to be quite good.The staff are very friendly!We went for many walks... more

We returned from our trip on Jan 20 and had a blast! The hotel was beautiful and pictures of it don't do it justice. You have to see it for yourself. They keep the entire resort very clean. The restaurants were very very good...we ate at Japanese (Maya), Cajun, and Gormet at Lindo. The service and presentation were superb. We asked the waiters what they recommended we eat (since they eat there themselves) and we were very pleased. My favorite was the Gormet. It was so classy and elegant. If you want a "grand" hotel with fantastic Mexican decor , this is the hotel for you. My husband and I just returned on the 20th of January and even though the hotel is spanking new and still needs some finishing touches, we enjoyed ourselves immensely. The rooms are huge and luxurious and the hotel grounds are very atmoshperic with beautiful landscaping and sculptures distributed everywhere. Just returned from our vacation at the Paraiso Maya and wanted to write a review since I found this site helpful when selecting our vacation spot! The hotel, grounds, pools, beach and rooms were just fantastic! My dtr enjoyed the jacuzzi "baths" and the suite was roomy and clean!! The maid service was great, always had clean towels and plenty of water and drinks stocked in the refrigerator. Our family of 5 stayed at the Maya from Dec. 29- Jan. 5., two adults and 3 boys from 13 - 23. The resort is truely beautiful in terms of architecture and landscpaping and always immaculate. The beach is picture perfect with waves that are better than a roller coaster, but watch out for the coral patches as they are hard on the toes. We were amazed that even at this peak time nothing was ever crowded, except at the New Years Eve Bash. My family stayed at the Maya from Dec 26-Jan 2 we have two boys under 10. Physically, the Hotel is unbelievably beautiful and clean. One thing we came to understand is that the Maya and the Lindo are basically the same Hotel: the pools and restaurants are in the middle and the Lindo is on one side then the Maya on the other. We just returned from a week during Christmas and New Years with our 14 year old to the new Iberostar Paraiso Maya in Riviera Maya. We had stayed at the Lindo last Easter, but the Maya was better. First off, the restaurants at the Maya were surprisingly exceptional with a great selection of restaurants. We are very picky eaters. The restaurants at the Lindo last Easter were really bad. Breakfasts and lunches are buffet with an adequate selection. We had a suite at the Lindo, but the suites at the Maya were nicer(Maya is all suites).... more
