Hotel Vecellio

We stayed at Vecellio for three nights a few weeks ago, and were somewhat satisfied. We were impressed by the cleanliness of the room, and the helpfulness and friendliness of the chief host - he even brought croissants and coffee to our room when we overslept the breakfast, and had a good lunch recommendation. Another nice feature is its proximity to the water taxi, essential for getting around Venice. It is literally right off the stop, which is so convenient. We stayed here in early May and were delighted with our choice. No problem with suitcases as we came off train, onto vaperetto and into hotel, reall convenient. It is only 15 mins or less walk from the main attractions and if you don't want to walk, don't visit Venice. That is half the attraction walking the streets. Hotel personnel were very helpful and suggested great eating places, Trattoria Cas Mia was great food. Rooms were reasonable size and although shower was just a corner of the bathroom, it had plenty of hot water and did the job.... more

We picked this hotel after reading Trip Advisor reviews & it was perfect for our first visit to Venice - easy to get to from Marco Polo airport, lovely views, very clean & an excellent price. We ate locally - Trattoria Storica 5 mins away was fantastic & recomended to us by the hotel. Tony, the owner had spent 5 years in the UK & really looked after us. I really don't understand the previous review at all. Hotel Vecellio is a wonderful place to stay, one of the best I have stayed at in Italy! After a long day of dealing with masses of people around Venice, I loved to escape to this quiet hotel. It is only a 10 minute walk to places but if your feet hurt, you really can get to and from all the tourist destinations by vaperetto. This is a wonderful, small, romantic hotel with easy, easy, easy access to the airport, the main attractions, and the surrounding islands via the vaperetto stop just outside the front door. What a great value and a fabulous way to see this beatuiful city!

I could say i made terribly mistake to stay at this hotel. OH i shouldn't say this is hotel. It could consider as guest house instead, otherwise it's the half star hotel. I could compare its quality as youth hostel which i paid 8 pounds to stay, but I paid 128 EUR to stay at this place. Room has no carpet, dark. Wardrobe is smelly. Bathroom is very inconveneient. My wife and I stayed at the Vecellio for 3 nights in late April. The hotel was very easy to find as it is right at the Fonte Nove vaparetto stop. Our room was beautiful and was easily the best room we stayed in during our 3 week romp through Italy. The view was wonderful looking over towards San Michele and Murano. The windows in the first floor rooms (2nd floor for North Americans) were somewhat low but this turned out to be great for sitting on the wide window sill and watching the world go by. Great family-run hotel with friendly and knowledgable service, lovely rooms and great views of the lagoon. The location is perfect - next to the water bus stop, but away from the tourist rabble and in the part of Vienice where you see real Venetians at work and play. The rooms are beautifully decorated and quiet, and there are lots of great restaurants nearby. It was our 15th Wedding anniversary and both Matteo and his father Mario did so much to make our trip memorable - we would go back tomorrow!!

I took my wife here for her 30th birthday and we both totally loved the hotel and were suitably impressed with the service - I emailed in advance and received a bottle of asti foc!! Breakfast was adequate although simple. It was easy to find (turn left when getting off the Alilaguna stop which is the second stop from the airport). Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Stayed at the Hotel Vecellio for three nights in March. What a great spot. They had said that the hotel would be right off the "bus" boat stop and they couldn't have been more right. You almost walk right into the door as you get off the boat. Needless to say, it also makes for great room views. The room was a good size and the bathroom, while somewhat small was perfectly fine and nicely done. The only complaint would be the tiny shower with no encloseure. A shower door or even curtain would make a difference since the bathroom becomes... more
