Hotel Turim

We (my husband, our eight year old son and myself) stayed at the Hotel turim for 4 nights. Although the hotel is not centrally located, it is only a 15mn walk to the main square ( going downhill), however it is worth buying a day travel pass at 3.35 euros which includes tram, bus and metro. Make sure you keep your transport receipt as the machine on board the trams can be quite temperamental and the driver would ask to see it. The staff are friendly and speak several languages. We book this hotels with 4 month before going over there. I personally called several times to be sure that our reservation was ok and that we would have 3 adult beds in the room. When we arrived there they sent us to the worst room in the base floor, completely warm and the aircon broken. We ask for the third bed as there was only 2 and we were waiting for it during 8 hours, the same time the take to confess that the air-conditioned was broken in that room and that they will move us to another. We were greeted by a friendly receptionist who was multi-lingual and extremely helpful. Our room wasn't ready so we had a drink in the bar, again multi-lingual bar tender, who was only too willing to correct my Portugese and be really helpful. We had a room at the front of the hotel but as a building was being renovated across the road and anticipating noise we asked for another room. Nice large clean room, exceptionally friendly staff, very close to the metro station. Good local dining choices within two to three blocks. Will book again.

This is a pretty nice hotel in a relatively quiet and centrally located area of Lisbon, maybe a little too quiet. It is only too quiet for the reason that there are few night time dining choices within a short walking distance, but there is a grocery store around the corner and some small cafes, but they were closed for dinner. However, there is a Portuguese restaurant accross the street, if you are into traditional Portuguese. It was a great value at 70 EUR when compared to other hotels in the area. We booked this hotel after reading the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. It lived up to all of the reviews. The hotel staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The room was lovely, big and very clean. the location was really good too. It is 5 minutes from Parque metro station and the metro is really simple to use.

We stayed in Turim Lisboa for 3 nights in March 2007. We chose this hotel after we had read its excellent reviews and we were not disappointed. We can definitely recommend it. The room was modern, spacious and very clean. The bathroom was big and clean too. Breakfast was buffet style, very nice and filling and served till late (10.30am). Stayed here for 4 nights in early March. Very satisfied. Large room, TV (no English speaking channels though, so we watched Eurosport in German, and the odd movie shown in English on local channel). Lock for the safe was 2 euros 50 a day to hire which we thought should have been free in a hotel of this class. Extra also was the kitchenette cupboard - you pay to get a key that opens up a cupboard - not sure what is in it - guessing a microwave and cutlery etc. Fresh towels every day, fresh linen if you requested it. We booked the Turim on the strength of excellent reviews here, and cannot add a great deal. The hotel rates 4*, which I think is fair - it certainly isn't a 5. Its only drawback is it's 4 stops from downtown on the Metro, but in mitigation there aren't many hotels downtown, and as the stops are only about 200m apart, you are only talking about a safe, clean 15 minute walk anyway. wife and i stopped at the turim,and found the breakfast,room,and the staff all excellent. if we had a minor gripe the maid did not replace the coffee we used in the room . if you turn left on leaving hotel, on the second street you come to there is a metro station (parque)on the left. from here you can buy a daily ticket from the machine. shopping. go to colegio militar / luz .this is the benfica football stadium stop and also for a large shopping mall. go to oriente.this is the expo parque das nacoes.this again is a... more
