Hotel Tonic

We stayed at the Hotel Tonic for 3 nights prior to joining a tour. Our room was spacious, clean and only a short walk away from many restaurants. The breakfast buffet was good for Italian standards. All the historic city sites were within walking distance or a short bus trip away. We would stay at this hotel again. The staff spoke a minimum amount of English and were always very pleasant. The street out front was very noisy all night long but we were prepared with ear plugs when we had the balcony windows open. Good value... more

O.k. hotel to stay at. Wasn't the best place hotel I stayed at. Bed was very uncomfortable and customer service was questionable. Prices and location in the city were good. Would recommend to someone for a short stay. And looking to save money.

Stayed in Hotel Tonic for two nights in October 05. The location is great if you want to be in the modern city (better in the evenings than the old part of the city), rooms are clean and spacious and the service is good. Lots of restaurants are within walking distance. The breakfast is hardly worth getting out of bed for though! If you stay here, try the cocktail bar next door (called Tribeca) for a few pre-dinner drinks.

We stayed at Hotel Tonic our first two nights in Palermo, immediately following our flight from the US, and it was a great place to recover from jet lag, as well as a good base for walking around Palermo. Also, it's quite close to where the airport bus stops (the Politeamo stop -- there's another at the train station). But I just read some other comments on this site, and I find it interesting that CASH is a common theme, as on the day we checked out, the guy at the desk said their "system" was down, and did we mind paying cash. Well located for Palermo's shopping district, and if you get off the bus from the airport at Teatro Politeama stop it is an easy walk. In a quiet area of town (not nearly as much traffic noise and honking of horns as elsewhere in Palermo). About 15-20 mins walk from railway station. Large, clean, recently decorated rooms. En-suite with good large, powerful shower. TV (old - just the usual italian channels) Hairdryer. Basic decor - but exactly what we required... not glitzy, but functional and a place to get a comfortable night's... more

Its a shame - the rooms were nice, located in safe area but the reception service was bad. Not only did they overcharge us, despite giving us original confirmation by email to discount our room and saying they will credit our account. We have yet to hear from them despite writing to them when we returned at the beginning of November. They also had mosquitoes in the room which made one night of our stay very unpleasant. Thankfully they had a pharmacy nearby but will recommend to future stayers to bring some repellent. Overall... more

Hotel Tonic was a lovely hotel and I would stay there again. Got twin beds instead of a double as requested but the room was changed with no problem. Had to pay cash when checking out but new that in advance. Never heard of this before.

Not bad. Nice location in the city center. Decent room, not ample. No more than satisfactory breakfast

Great hotel. Located in the new city of Palermo. Feels like a small hotel. Fabulous rooms. Big, nicely appointed in a simple way and a very nice bathroom. Showers big enough for big men, great water pressure. Breakfast was okay, no big deal. For the price it can't be beat!
