This was my first trip to Eurpe and I had low expectations for the hotels-so I was happy to find this one a comfortable place to stay. My husband I stayed one night in Aug 06. The staff was very friendly. The hotel is right next to the train station so it was VERY easy to get to our next city. It is also close to the bus station (arrived from airport). -just start walking left and get over the canal to find this hotel. The downside to this building is that we were on the 4th floor with no elevator-fine for us b/c we are young. We requested...

Nice place, so-so breakfast, semi-helpful staff
from JennyInToronto
We stayed at the Hotel Spagna for 2 nights Sept 6-7. All it all it was a nice place, nothing spectacular, but a good spot to rest weary bones. Due to an unfortunate mix-up from a change in our flights, I had booked the 2 nights for Sept 4-5 through Expedia, and *forgot* to change the dates for the hotel. Expedia said that they would refund the difference that the hotel refunded, but the hotel refused this siting that they could have rented the room so they'd be out and they are a business after all. Long story short, they took the...

Excellent except for air conditioning
from edw11215
The hotel is very comfortable with large rooms, decorated elegantly. The air conditioning is totally inadaquate, though we were there in a heat wave. Great location 5 minute walk from train station, 15 from bus station to airport. Very nice desk staff. Breakfast good, typical. No elevator.
Good hotel in Venice

We (2 adults and an 11 year old) stayed in Spagna Hotel in July 2006 for 1 night in a triple room. Hotel is very small and located near the Santa Lucia rail station. Room was big, had central air and very nice solid wood furniture and cloth covered walls. Hotel staff is fluent in English and helpful. Breakfast wasn’t great so big eaters need to eat somewhere else after. We didn’t want to stay in Mestre and for a hotel located in Venice proper Spagna is a good value. Please keep in mind that Venice hotels are the costliest in Italy.<br...

great location
from A TripAdvisor Member
this is a small and friendly hotel . super location , although it is in a very busy area I could not hear anything from my hotel room , the walls are sound proofed . It was very clean , and the room was well attended to on a daily basis . Breakfast was more than enouugh for me , great choice of preserves , plenty of coffee , fruit juice , and biscuiots , crispbread , cheese . Very accessible from waterbus and bus station , ok to leave luggage at no extra charge on last day . not the poshest of hotels in venice but great value for money
Affordable in a good location for getting around.

This clean and comfortable hotel is a few minutes from the train station. Agustino greeted me with pleasure upon arrival and gave me good advice for getting around Venice. I bought a 3 day Vaporetto pass so that when my feet gave out I took the boats to the stop directly in front of the rail station. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby. Due to the lack of cars in Venice, one doesn't have to worry too much about outside noise. The windows were relatively soundproof when closed, so I slept very soundly

Great location. Great view overlooking a busy street. Good quality room at a fair price. ONE desk clerk was a nut case though. On check out he failed to get any of my three credit cards to go through. I used them afterwards at other places with ease. Used one at a bank to get cash to pay for the room. The guy then charged me one euro for his use of the phone with my credit cards after I paid over 400 for the 3 night stay. And he put that euro in HIS OWN pocket. Because of this desk clerk I doubt I would stay there again.
great location

Have just returned today from a three night break in Venice at the Spagna Hotel. I needed a hotel near the bus station, with two single rooms and not expensive and the Spagna fitted the bill. The rooms and bathrooms were adequate and clean. The location was great, a short walk (or one stop vaparetto trip) from the bus station and just down the road from the rail station. Plenty of shops and restaurants all around. The staff were all very pleasant (especially Agustino on reception). It was basic - no bar, not great breakfast...

Highly recommended for an affordable Venice stay
from ANUJ_MITHANI
Spagna is conveninetly located in Cannaregio, which is a stone's throw from Santa Lucia train station-always a good idea to walk to your hotel (rather than spend on an {expensive} water taxi to San Marco or similar touristy areas), drop your bags and explore the city on foot. the front desk staff (Augustino) is particularly friendly and helpful (will patiently point out all the sights on a map and directions how to get there) and ensured we had a comfortable and thoroughly enjoyable stay. At 120E per night, Venice couldnt be more affordable !
Please renovate the bath room ...

Stayed here early July 2005 for 2 nights. The positive thing about this hotel is the location, it is only about 5 minutes walk to St.Lucia train station. Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. First look at the hotel was not exciting. Welcomed by a set of stairs, the hotel lobby was small and modest. Our room was right next to the reception table, so you could sometimes hear the sound of printing machines in the morning. Room was clean and spacious enough even for 4 people (we booked a quadruple). Inside there were 3 single...
