Oct 2006, Mr C Stamp

The location of the accommodation is a little out on a limb to the main holiday areas of Paphos and Coral Bay. It is necessary to catch the bus, or order a taxi, every time you go away from the complex, if you haven’t got your own transport. I found the taxis reasonable if a price was agreed before the journey, unless on your return to the complex when the last bus had gone.(The taxis seemed to seize this opportunity to double the price )
The accommodation was very clean and spacious, and I found the staff very honest and friendly.
My daughter and myself stayed at the Akteon for a short break of a week, very late on in September, and although the whole of the area was beginning to close down for the winter, all of the facilities in the Akteon was still going on. (Absolutely no problem getting a sun bed around the pool) if you wanted one.
In the past I have always stayed in the Protaras area of Cyprus, and thoroughly enjoyed it. now I have stayed in Paphos I would definitely visit again.
I would definitely recommend the scuba diving, in this area of the Med.(Cydive, Paphos Harbour).

Sep 2006, Mrs M Greenhalgh

The rooms where big and spacious, cleaned every day except one, and on the day we had no cleaning they came in and removed the rubbish.
The pool area for really nice. There was a separate pool for games (volley ball and water polo) and a children’s pool. Tons of sun beds.
We ate out each night and it was a 10 minute bus ride into Paphos, going in the opposite direction you had a 10 minute ride to Coral Bay. Maybe a car would have been a good idea, I managed without one, the bus service stops at 10.30 pm.
The animation team kept us amused, without being intrusive, you could join in if you wanted, but it you didn’t they left you alone.
I enjoyed my holiday.

Sep 2006, Miss E Wiseman

Just arrived home from our one wk stay last night. Myself and my partner thoroughly enjoyed our break away and were extremely pleased with the accommodation.
Our holiday was booked with Thomson as a late deal one week before and was 4*h/b allocated on arrival. Everything you could have wanted for the price we paid was more than met! Would definitely recommend this to anyone as we are in our 20's. If you do not like the night entertainment then just get a taxi into Paphos itself! Although it is smaller than the usual main towns like magaluf in Spain it has the usual pubs and bars for everyone.
Hotel very clean, I thought all staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Really enjoyed my stay at the Hotel....

Sep 2006, Mrs M Riley

Really enjoyed my stay at the Hotel. Accommodation was clean and comfortable. Entertainment was similar to that of other hotels with games organized during the day and something to watch while having a drink in the evening. The pool was fantastic, really big with plenty of sun loungers, there was a separate children’s pool, a pool for water polo and volley ball (separate), an indoor swimming pool.
I enjoyed my time spent at the Action.
It takes approximately 10 minutes on the bus to get to Paphos Harbor and 10 minutes the opposite way to get the Coral Bay Beach. There are a few restaurants in the area for eating, but most nights we got the bus into Paphos, the buses do stop at 10.30 so after that you need to get a taxi.

One of the best Mediterranean...

Sep 2006, Mrs B Myers

One of the best Mediterranean holidays we've had!
The staff really did make it for us - it was our wedding anniversary when we were out there and had pre-ordered a special celebration pack (wine and chocolates) to be delivered to our room from our tour operator who let us down on the day. The Akteon staff came to our rescue and whilst we were having dinner they turned up at our table with a bottle of champagne and an ice bucket with compliments of the management! It turned out to be a very special night indeed. Generally, all the staff simply could not do enough for you.
The food was excellent; we were really pleased we went all inclusive. We paid for the first evening ourselves, and went all-inclusive for the next 3 days as we didn’t want to commit to a week. After eating out in Paphos a few days later we couldn't wait to get back to AI!
To top it all, we had a wonderful room overlooking the sea where we watched the sun go down every evening before we went to dinner.
Because my job is pretty stressful, I was more than happy doing nothing and chilling out by the pool every day soaking up the sun but my hubby is a bit of an action man and likes his sport. The daytime entertainment team certainly made sure they grabbed him every day but he thoroughly enjoyed himself - the team were very entertaining indeed. We would not hesitate returning.
One word of warning though - be careful of the airport taxi drivers... they are more than likely to rip you off!! DONT pay anymore than about £16-18 maximum and they conveniently don’t have any change either! Agree a price before you leave the airport.

Just back from a very enjoyable...

Sep 2006, Miss C Forsythe

Just back from a very enjoyable week's holiday in this resort and loved every minute of it!
The room although quite basic was clean and served its purpose. We stayed on an All Inclusive basis and after experiencing the food on offer at the Akteon I would definitely go again! There was a good range of dishes available every meal time and unlimited ice cream, drinks etc.
The entertainment at times did feel a bit like we were at a holiday camp but you can't fault the entertainment team for trying to get holidaymakers involved in the activities. Lots of local people but they didn't cause any bother, the resort was big enough for everyone!
One thing I would say is that the bar staff at the pool bar in particular were a lot nicer to the paying guests than to the all inclusive.
I stood for 15 mins waiting to be served an ice cream while the paying guests were served in front of me! I think maybe the Akteon need to explain to their staff that we are all paying customers whether self catering or not!
Overall we had a great holiday and would definitely go back.

Sep 2006, Ms M Dunlop

We stayed at the Akteon village as a family of 3 (including a 6yr old child) in August for 2 weeks AI. We thought the quality of the food was excellent although it did not really cater for children. To get round this we made sure that our child got something to eat at the poolside bar so that she did not have to eat at the lunchtime or evening buffet (really caters for adults). That said - the variety of food was excellent.
Akteon village is very clean and the apartments were very spacious and clean (we stayed in a studio apt) - all fully air coned.
The animation team were brilliant especially with the children. Well done to Janka, Daniela and Monika for keeping our daughter entertained both day and night!
The only down side to the Akteon is the very unfriendly, rude and arrogant bar staff (all girls). They do not like the AI guest and are only interested in the paying guests presumably to get tips. They often ignored the children and generally treated guests badly! Reception staff are also to be mentioned as well. The only time we were treated any way nice at all by the reception staff was when the older receptionist were on duty. The younger ones were not interested and like the bar staff - rude!

We have just returned from a two week...

Aug 2006, Miss A Flynn

We have just returned from a two week holiday from the Akteon Tourist village Paphos. This was for me the best holiday I have ever been on due to the amount of entertainment during the day and the different things you could get involved with. I also enjoyed the entertainment at night. Also you can get on very well with all the staff especially Jana who worked on public relations she spoke to me all the time and was very friendly.
Also I got on particularly well with the entertainment staff I can’t pick out one that I got on best with I got on with them all particularly the same, apart from the night I got put in the pool off Michelle which wasn’t funny at the time but afterwards I could laugh about it all the time. I especially got no with Monica as she is only a year older than me so we got on like two great friends. Also Daniela I got on with so well. I really didn’t want to leave the resort once you get there and get on with the people you done want to leave.
Hopefully I will be returning to the resort next year but not as a guest but actually as a children’s rep actually working along side Daniela, Monica and Jarks which I will really enjoy. So anyone who has booked this place I can assure you it is enjoyable through day and night Thanks.

Aug 2006, Mr G Turner

Having just returned and read all the latest poor reviews I felt it only fair to pass on my comments. We spent 2 weeks being all inclusive. I found the rooms spacious and the pool area great. I accept a lot of locals used the pool but I was told they booked and paid for rooms so why shouldn't they.
Yes a lot of staff were from Slovakia. The bar staff I found friendly and good fun. The entertainment staff deserve a special praise because they really were kind, good fun and hard working. My daughter used the kids clubs most days and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food we found to be of a good standard and we have had may all inclusive holidays to compare to.
With regard to sun beds yes it did get busy but the life guard had started removing towels left overnight on the day we left. The hotel employed a PR lady who everyday made a point of asking if were happy with everything and whether there was anything further we needed - what more could they do. My family certainly had no complaints.

Aug 2006, Mr D King

Well. After reading other comments on this place I really was looking forward to this holiday. Sad to say I cannot agree with other comments. We booked for 2 weeks independently in mid August and I am glad to say we did not go AI. I would have been so annoyed to have paid top money for this place. First off I have to concede that the resort is very clean with a fabulous pool, a fair outdoor restaurant/snack bar and the rooms are roomy if basic and a very well stocked Mini market. I can't comment on the Al a Carte restaurant as it was cheaper to eat out at the millions of bar/restaurants in the Paphos and Coral Bay areas. There, my praise ends. Be very prepared (at this time of year anyway) to get up early to reserve your sun beds. We arrived from a night out at 1 in the morning to find 32 sun beds already reserved, and no, the maids/lifeguards did not clear them. That day a further 17 were reserved when we got there at 8:00am and did not get used till 12:30. Any Tom, Dick or Harry can use the facilities of the complex whether a resident or not and on one weekend one Cypriot family booked a room by the pool and had 17 friends and family in the room and around the pool. Security is non existent and I have never met such a surly, miserable bunch of bar staff. Apparently most are East European immigrants working long hours on a poor wage. Not my problem. I come on holiday to get away from all that! I found the food quite nice around the bar but again, cheaper to eat out. As were drinks. Tixie's Bar up the road was about just over half the price of here. Maybe I am subsidising the AI holiday makers? Loud music 5 out of 7 days blared over the complex from an inferior DJ, assuming he didn't just turn it on and disappear, and there was no escape. Nice if you like that sort of thing, tough luck if you don't. Daytime entertainment was so pathetic I really don’t know what to say. Let’s say I'm surprised they didn't have adults playing musical chairs, or pass the parcel! We only watched one evening one. That’s when we went out! So. So much for the complex. As there is not much to do here and you are stuck in a bit of no mans land its bus (excellent service) taxi (con merchants) or car hire (don't do Avis, use a little local family hire) to get around. And unless you like Historic buildings or monuments there aint much else to do outside either. Beaches here are nothing to write home about. Aphrodites Falls was a waste of time and local villages are dying as the area turns into one huge building site of cloned villas and apartments. We got to the top of Mt Olympus and you can't take photos (I presume you get shot?) so that was a waste of time. I do recommend the Paphos Kart Track if you have kids (even if you don't) as it’s the best I've seen. Best Beach we found locally was probably Lara Beach (no facilities) or the Municipal Beach Paphos (with facilities..well..sort of), but like I say, neither are THAT special. Lady Mile Beach was recommended to us (about 45 minute drive) but was filthy with overflowing waste bins, rubbish floating in the sea, a scum on the surface, dog ends all over .(If you really HAVE to smoke take your **** home with you) and filthy, stained sun beds that you have to pay for and of course the obligatory wasps that come with squalor. Apparently the East of Cyprus is much better but I won't be in any rush to find out. The best part of this was the flight home!

Having read the previous excellent...

Aug 2006, Mr N A Farr

Having read the previous excellent reviews we were a little disappointed. We had asked for 2 adjacent Apartments with seaviews as we have young children, but they were unable to accommodate this so we were given 1 Apartment & 1 studio both without seaviews. Nethertheless the rooms were excellent - spacious, well equipped & clean. The air conditioning was very effective. The rooms were serviced 5 out of 7 days and linen changed every 3 days.
The food was average with very little choice for children. The snack bar served meals outside the restaurant times so children would often eat then. Here both adults & kids were served cold drinks in disposable plastic cups and hot drinks in polystyrene cups. I know there is a safety issue but still think this could be improved.
The pool was very large and safe but we had to get up at 7.00 am to reserve sun beds with a parasol. The hotel was a bit isolated. There were no shops or bars to walk to during the evenings so it meant a bus or taxi ride for a change of scenery.
It is very worthwhile hiring a jeep and exploring the Akamas region - Lara beach, Aphrodites baths, Latchi etc (a lot of safe off-road fun) and the Troodos mountains (care a 6-8 hour round trip but very beautiful). The Adonis baths & waterfalls were disappointingly small, overcrowded and charged CYP 4.50 for adults and CYP 3.00 for children. The track to them was a bit treacherous but it said safe for all vehicles!!
The bar staff were unfriendly and would often ignore the children. They should appreciate that they are paying guests too! They would often walk off part way through an order to talk to their colleagues or serve a cash customer. As the hotel was a mix of self catering, half & full board and all inclusive we (AI) were treated as 2nd class citizens and those paying as they went along would receive better service. The all inclusive package was not as comprehensive as others we have enjoyed in the past and fell short of our expectations.
The entertainment is very repetitive and is more suited to the children. The stage was very small and there were not enough tables & chairs.
We will definitely return to Cyprus sometime but would prefer to be much nearer Paphos.

“This place is great” To say we...

“This place is great”
To say we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Akteon Village is an understatement. We stayed 1 week July 31st-6th August 2006. If you have booked to stay or are thinking about staying here – you will be not be disappointed.
We were a little apprehensive staying All Inclusive as we have stayed “AI” before in Spain but this was not on the same level.
The food in the restaurant was excellent. You can sit indoors or out – all self service and the choice was very good, always hot and never any empty trays even towards to the end of the service. Each night the buffet was different ranging from Carvery or Chinese to Traditional Cypriot food. There really was something to suit all tastes. You can also eat at the snack bar (outside) for lunch or in the restaurant if you were AI. There was waitress service for drinks and clearing away – they were very efficient and pleasant.
We were a party of 10 and we sat together every meal time in the restaurant – nothing was too much hassle.
We also got 8 beds with umbrellas next to each other every day by the pool. There is no need to get up early or put your towels out at the crack of dawn either as the staff collects any towels or lilos reserving the beds in the early hours– RESULT! Towels for the fabulous and very clean pool area are also provided.
The apartments were very clean and very well equipped and spacious each having a balcony and very efficient air con (small deposit payable at reception).
The entertainment programme is great – join in if you want to or have a walk to the beach 5 minutes away.
We had all ages in our party and have travelled all over – we found Akteon Village to be
very well run with not a single complaint from any of us. We will return.
