I went with my husband and 2 kids end of July. We are arrived in the room and there was no remote for the AC. The temperature outside was 40C!! We called the front desk and they said they didn't have enough remote controls...they would have to switch on the AC everytime we got back in the room. We waited 1 hr for someone to come with the remote. Also there was not a remote for the TV. The breakfast quality was below zero. This is the kind of hotel that they do not want to invest any money on the customer. No respect for customers at all!!!

If your doing some research and want some info on this resort this is the best account you will see (coming from travelling to many places in world)!
Cyprus is a wonderful place to visit, the moment you step off the plane you are greeted with the warm Cyprus air which immediately places you in a holiday mood, you wonder at this point what will the hotel accom be like?.. first get a taxi which should cost you 35euro to Akteon holiday village some may charge 40 but 35 is the going rate, it is a short trip in the taxi, unless you took the 45 min transfer option. There is a local taxi firm which is just around the corner from Akteon Holiday Village called Chris Taxi's they are great and always accomodating within minutes of your request and service with a smile :-)
On arriving at Akteon Holiday Village you will be greeted at reception by friendly staff who will accomodate your needs, including the remote control for your air con which is a neccesity (20 euro refundable deposit there is no daily charge). On walking to our apartment (studio) the photo's do not do this justice as the pathways/gardens are now draped in beautiful vines and colourful flowers up to the height of the first floor (giving extra privacy and individualism to each apartment(studio).
My partner and I stayed in a first floor Studio, second row from the sea which we would highly recommend although the sea view is what you request 1st off naturally, but you will not be dissapointed by the accom whether you are a few rows back from sea view or not, as the gardens are beautiful and private.
On entering the accom we were pleasantly surprised by a spacious studio which consisted of bathroom with shower and bath etc, kitchenette with sink fridge and bacic microwave and all pots, pans and utensils etc.. (but we went all inclusive and think this is best as gives you best deal over all as drinks and food would be expensive in Cyprus and hotels), following this there are twin beds - which we pushed together, a lounge area with sofa and large balcony, tv not used much...
We arrived appox 10pm at night and headed straight to bar after ditcing cases, the bar atmosphere was lively and welcoming to all new or resident occupancy, all inclusive lasts till midnight which inc Beer, red/white wines vodka, rum, local sprits etc.. and all soft drinks although bottled water is chargable (buy a six pack of mineral water from hotel mini market which sells many items you may need which is open til 8pm) The entertainment is good, if without family best to go to dinner late as they run a childrens disco which is encapsulating for kids and parents but if on own you may find repetative, bingo can be found from 9pm, and gives you a chance to win appox 200 euros, evening entertainment then starts at 10ish and is generally a good laugh, the entertainers day and night look to include all (but not annoyingly) with good spirit, in all they provide.
We were pleasantly suprised to find that the staff had delivered sandwiches, fruit and water to our room on our return on 1st night, to welcome us just in case we had not made our way to the food service prior to 9.30 food/or drinks 12.00 midnight!!
There is no beach!! However the pool areas are large x 3 (you need to reserve your beds early) each have many facilities for all sports fans, there is a short walcheap as you will find to take home etc..) k to the nearest low level rock (sanded beach) faced area which you can dip into the sea - would strongly recommend that you visit 'Coral Bay' 10k away, which has a great beach with Taverna serving Food/Drinks etc.. approx 14 euros by taxi or 1.50 euros by bus, the bus stop is located 10 mins from hotel. (although hot in july/aug to walk too :-() )
Paphos Harbour is another place to visit (particulary for Cigs and Alcohol ) whilst enjoying a few drinks and food, there is a great bar called Cafe Hobo at end of Harbour next to castle very reasonable and best place to sit to watch boats etc...)
Dont worry about late check outs as there are showering/changing facilities available located at lower level of hotel in Spa area, sauna, gym, indoor pool and hair/beauty salon located also - great experience.
All staff at this resort are great, however you may find waiters at food serice (apart from young ones) are a little distracted not too memorable, and the 40 year old bar maid at the bar never cracks her face although the other staff at bar esp young tiny blond girl and all other areas are superb!
The club song ends up sticking in your head after holidays which to be honest is not a bad thing as it reminds you of the great times you had in this venue!
All in all a good place to stay in Cyprus and one of the best we saw whilst conquering the Island.
Do go if you are a couple or a family wanting Sun, Relaxation, good food, and good surroundings, don't go if you want clubbing, bars and explosive atmosphere, you will not be dissapointed. The sunset each night over the sea at 8pm in July is a joy to behold. Have a great holiday!

Having moved to the Akteon village after it's sister hotel (Eleni) was closed due to lack of occupancy in the middle of our holiday, my girlfriend and I were understandably in a less than optimistic mood. However, the differences between the two holiday villages (100 yards apart from each other) were stark. Whilst we enjoyed the quiet of Eleni, I think we may have been bored by the end of the week - the low occupancy meaning that there was nowhwere to get a drink between breakfast and lunch, and the entertainment minimal. The Akteon was a different story - after a very amicable switch over, and an upgrade to a sea view appartment located right next to the pool and main hotel, our holiday was amazing. The staff were very friendly and the evening entertainment was amusing for all kinds of ages and groups. It did seem to be a very family orientated hotel, and the kids entertainment seemed to be well run and responded to positively.
Being that we went quite early in the season, I would expect the evening entertainment to Rev up in the coming weeks as well, and possibly take place in the large outside bar, as opposed to the rather more cramped inside bar.
The food was very nice, with a different theme each night. Unfortunately we missed the greek night as a result of our hotel move, but there was the odd bit of local food available on other nights.
The location of the hotel means that someone wishing to explore further than the shoreline pathways would need a car, although the bus service is pretty good, operating between Paphos town (E1.50 each way), the old market in Paphos and the Coral Bay beach resort. For those less willing to investigate, the pool is more than adequate to sit by and pass the time.
The room was cleaned and tidied every day, and the fruit bowl and bottle of water on arrival was a nice touch.
All in all a very nice place to stay for a holiday in Cyprus, even if we did end up there by accident!

IF YOU ARE IN ANY DOUBT ABOUT STAYING AT AKTEON - THINK AGAIN!
THE STATS:
Accommodation: a big wow - studio was clean, comfy and spacious
Cleanliness: a big wow - daily cleaning as a rule
Staff: a big wow - First Class
Entertainers: a big wow - except Rico is slightly mad during the fire show!
Food: delicious and spoilt for choice, however fussy you are
Location: 5 min to the bus. A short ride (15-20 min) takes you into Coral Bay, Paphos, Harbour or Market. Taxi's are reasonable into town for the evening (as anywhere, always ask for the receipt). At this location you can have busy or quiet, your choice.
Swimmng/game Pools: Clean and gorgeous - also a little one that is ideal for toddlers
Spa/indoor pool: Girls were lovely and want to help you look gorgeous - tons of treatments to pick from
THE STORY:
A friend and I booked a week away in desperate search to escape for some R&R in the sun, unfortunately as we stepped out of the airport it started to rain and believe it or not, there was a thunderstorm! So unusual for Cyprus - but hey, they need the rain too and it was March.
You can imagine the disappointment of not getting the weather that we were looking for and that is normally guaranteed.
Anyway, we arrived at the Akteon tired and to be honest, peeved off and decided to go straight to the bar for a comforting glass of wine. The bar manager (panecos) served us our drinks (unaware of our flat mood) and in his buoyant personality style, had us "laughing our socks off". What a welcome! From that moment on the weather was forgotten!
The staff and entertainers in this holiday village are some of the friendliest people I have ever met, they do not require tips to ensure you receive a first class service, which is part and parcel of their nature however, a token of your appreciation is probably welcome - treat people as you would like to be treated. We found that nothing was too much trouble and help was always at hand.
There is entertainment every night and games and activities organised for during the day. If you are lucky enough to have “BeB” (as your day time entertainer, take part – you will have fun! Everything is what you make of it.
This was one week away that I will not forget in a hurry – we went looking for R&R and sunshine but also found laughter, happiness and some great friends.
If you spend time with the lovely bar staff (especially Elena and Igor) and enjoy a cocktail– I would highly recommend the “Black Russian”!!!
Go and have a great holiday!
My sincere thanks to all at Akteon for everything – you are the best!

As we live in Cyprus we booked with the hotel direct for a late weekend break. We booked the Akteon village because it was realitively priced and also had a few special things we wanted, we booked an apartment with a seperate room as we have a 10 month old. When we arrived they had us in the wrong room when we mentioned this they reluctantly moved us to the room booked which should not have been hard as the hotel was have empty as you would expect this time of year. The room we booked had a whirlpool bath and the hotel had a indoor heated pool which we intended to use as it is not the best time of year for swimming in the pool outside. On the 1st night when we went to use the bath we found it did not work, as we reported this the receptionist she said "yeah we know non of the whirlpool baths work". The next day we went to use the indoor pool to find out the heating for the pool did not work and yet again reception said "yeah we know". So we made the best out of our weekend we could with the poor weather. When we came to leave and asked to speak to the manager as we did not think it was fair to pay full as the reasons we booked the hotel were not working. He was not answering his phone and not availble, the receptionist advised us to contact head office. So once we got home we rang aqua sol head office as that is who the hotel is part of three. The attitude was its not our problem speak to the hotel and that response came from the general manager which we thought was a very poor attitude to have. It seemed that they did not care as they had our money.

this resort is lovely although a bit out the way, lovely pool, good accomadation, bus route to pathos and coral bay at the end of the road,i would definatly recomend car hire but BEWARE OF LOONYS ON QUADS AND SCOOTERS,resort bar prices a bit steep but you can buy your drink/snacks in the resort shop where the owner is very freindly and enjoys haggling, and enjoy them in the bar area anyway .the entertainment staff are exellent and realy made the holiday, there are activities all day including water polo, water aerobics ,darts comps, shuffle board and much more, evening entertainment is till about 12.30 and is varied, bar snacks are exellent ,if u have kids all inclusive is a must, there are not many english on the resort, the only downside of the resort is there are loads of ants about which might bother some people,i highly recomend akteon......

I have just come home after a week stay at the akteon, and after reading the reveiws beforhand i was a little weary of going there as i was traveling alone, first impressions on getting there at 2.30 in the morning,mm quite nice then the man on the desk was really helpful and freindly even allowing me to call my boyfreind back in uk as my mobile wouldnt connect, a free call!
When i got to my appartment i was pleasently suprised(again due to reveiws) i could have swung an elephant let alone a cat, it was clean comfortable, and had everything you need, even a kettle and toaster, after checking the cutlery and crockery which were clean, i had a quiet comfortable sleep.
the complex was beautifuly kept flowers and grass well maintained and in full bloom, the pool area was spotless even at 6.30 in the morning, rooms were cleaned daily and all the household staff were hard working pleasent and really helpfull, i spotted some ants round my front door(i was on the ground floor) and the maid sprayed all around within no time,
the food was really good, different each day, although i do like to eat local food when on holiday there wasnt much local food, as they cater for the guest, who were from everywere sweden, france, italy germany, holland uk, only dissapointment on the food side was the breakfast, same every day but lots of choice, reastaurant and bar staff were mainly freindly and helpful, the odd one or two were rude but they were the older ones but they wernt too bad.
The pool got quite busy but i was still able to swim without being hit with balls or bumping into people on lilos, its so big that it almost looked empty at times, music around the pool is a joke but gets people talking besides with people enjoying themselves you dont hear it that much.
All in all i had a really good holiday, and wouldnt think twice about going back.
Oh its not to close to anywere and the port area is a bit of a let down but the old town/market area is really nice lots of shops and cheaper than port area, and for a meal out go to fat mamas on the main road well worth the wait for a table.....

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Akteon. Without exception the staff were friendly and helpful.
There was a problem with my room. The air conditioning did not work, there was water seeping onto the tile floor in the bathroom and the mattress was missing from the sofa bed in the living room - so you fell into it if you tried to use it as a sofa.
When I asked if I could change my room I was told that there were no similar rooms available (it was coming up to a Cyprus bank holiday weekend) but that they would upgrade me at no extra charge.
The room I had booked was a single bedroom flat with a seaview. I was upgraded to the executive version of the same thing. The difference was in the decor and a much higher quality sofabed which worked well as a sofa.
The flat consisted of a bathroom with a very effective shower over the bath.
The living room included a kitchenette with fridge and two ring cooker. There was a filter coffee maker, toaster and electric kettle. The pots and pans and cooking utensils appeared to be of a good standard. I only used the coffee maker.
There was an eating counter between the kitchenette and living area. The living area contained a sofa(bed), low table and two easy chairs. Glass sliding double doors opened onto a patio. There were two very comfortable plastic chairs with adjustable armrests on the patio and a plastic table. Initially there were no cushions on the chairs. I asked for some and they were supplied very quickly.
You could see the sea from the living room but it did not look directly at the sea. Whilst it would be nice to look at the sea from within the living room in the low season when the weather is cooler I felt that overall I would prefer the arrangement I had because the patio was in shade for much of the day. It was a pleasant and comfortable place to sit despite the high temperatures.
It was very pleasant to sit there late in the evening and to be able to watch the moon and the stars over the water and listen to the boom of the waves breaking on the rocks. For me this more than made up for the relatively remote location of the hotel.
The bedroom contained two single beds side by side with reading lights over the beds, bedside tables, a desk, plenty of wardrobe space, a safe (one of two in the flat) and a place to put a suitcase. As this was an executive apartment there was a drape arrangement hanging over the beds which added a touch or luxury.
The concept of the village is that there is a central hotel building with all the usual amenities whilst the rooms are located in separate blocks arranged with pathways to give the impression of a village. There is a mini market as well for basics.
The photos I saw of the gardens didn't do them justice because were immature when the photos were taken. They are now mature and abound with pergolas, squares, rockeries, archways and trellises all teeming with a profusion of brightly coloured flowers that provide dappled shade throughout the gardens. The buildings, walkways and gardens together create the impression of a village and are a delight to walk through.
The entrance to the hotel is unprepossessing but once inside the lobby is very large with comfortable seats and tables and a bar. Upstairs there is a library and internet access. The internet has to be paid for and it works so badly that it is almost unusable. In a 20 minute session (2 euros) I was able to open up my email and read the headings but was unable to open any individual messages. Forget about using the internet at the Akteon.
There are two further restaurants and a snack bar in the hotel. The pool is enormous. One part shelves very gently. There are plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas.
Breakfast is taken inside or out. I took it outside overlooking the pool and three waterfalls - with the sea in the distance. Very pleasant. There is a very good choice of breakfast food eg cooked breakfast, many cheeses and meats, yoghurts, cereals and muesli, fruits, juices and coffee and tea of course. The choice is extensive. It may lack the sophistication of top class hotels eg the croissants are definitely more Greek than French but I think it would be unfair to compare. It's a four star not a five star and it's in Cyprus, not France.
I didn't watch but there seemed to be entertainment most nights eg performing parakeets, latin dancing.
There is also a sauna/massage/beautician centre which I didn't use but the staff seemed very enthusiastic and pleasant.
Caveats. My experience was based upon a stay in a one bedroom flat by the sea (I was visiting relatives and used the hotel as a base). If you booked a studio, crammed it full of people and paid for a location far from the sea you might still have a good holiday but it would be different from the one that I have described in respect of the room.
I suspect that I might have been just a little lucky being upgraded. Even in the executive flat there was a panel in the bathroom that was held in place with selotape - not really very satisfactory. I got the impression building maintenance may be the weak point of the hotel eg the water leak onto the bathroom floor of my first flat looked like it had been there a while (the grouting between the floor tiles was turning black). There really wasn't any excuse for having a sofa bed without a mattress in it thereby rendering it useless a sofa.
The hotel actually changed character considerably during my stay. I booked Wednesday to Wednesday. At first the clientele were very mixed. Many nationalities and no one nationality in overwhelming numbers. Many french, some dutch. All sorts really. There were some english but not too many. The age range was very varied too. Young couples, older couples, families and some singles. I really liked that.
There was plenty of room. I think that the hotel was busy but not full.
However it was a holiday weekend in Cyprus. On Friday evening I was surprised to see that most of the sun loungers had towels on them. I was even more surprised to see that the towels were still there the following morning. The Cypriot owners seemed to have bagged the loungers for the duration of their stay. However the hotel management had other ideas and put a stop to this. Good for them.
Cypriots seem to be quite noisy but good natured. Considering that they had almost taken over the hotel for the weekend and had filled it the atmosphere was pretty OK. I would prefer not to be in a hotel on a holiday weekend but it really wasn't too bad considering. It would be the same if the hotel was taken over by any other nationality, including the english - probably worse. I think that I'd steer clear of local bank holiday weekends but it's not a deal breaker. By Monday evening the Akteon was back to a more mixed clientele. In fact it almost felt chic.
Would I go again. Definitely. A hire car is a big plus so the out-of-town location is then not a drawback. Ideally I'd hire a four wheel drive, go snorkelling and off-road driving in the Akemas and drive up into the Troodos and possibly to some walking. The Akteon would make a great base for that kind of holiday.

After spending the first night in a fusty smelling room we were moved to another which was ok, the rooms are very basic but clean, fresh bedding and towels twice during our weeks stay, and the room was cleaned and beds made every day. The choice at breakfast was very good and we ate in the restaurant on our first night as we were too tired to venture out, the choices then were also good. The facilities were fine, the pools and area were very clean, the entertainment put on for the families and children were excellent, the gym equipment was very old and most of it didn't work and there was only a limited variety of weights so if you're taking gym gear and expecting to keep the holiday belly at bay in the gym think again. The location of the Akteon is the only real gripe I had, there is a couple of bars and restaurants nearby but the "Tombs of the Kings" area and Paphos centre are a bus ride away and as the buses stopped running at 7pm supposedly - we were at the bus stop from 6.30 each time and never so one - it's an expensive taxi ride there and back each night unless you go out early! Enjoyed Paphos wouldn't stay at the Akteon again because of location.

I have literally just got back from my holiday at the Akteon holiday village.
First off i want to say how wonderful the entertainment staff were, We had a real laugh with them (and our kids where not even with us lol)
However SOME of the waiting staff and bar staff where not so nice, didn't smile very much and sometimes where very rude.
The rooms were clean, rather basic but served there purpose. you do have to pay a 20 euro cash deposit for you air conditioning remote when you check in but you do get it back as long as you have your receipt.
The food was very nice, a wide varity of choices for adults, but i think if my kids had been there they would have lived on chips and jelly not much choice for them.
The pools were lovely, there was 4 to choose from one big outdoor, a sports pool, baby pool and an indoor pool. altough be warned the floor around the pool gets very slippery when wet.
I also had a full body massage in there health spa and it was AMAZING!
If you go all inclusive there are some rules, no free drinks after midnight which i thought was a bit mean and the bar closes at 12.30-1 so not one to stay open very very late. Altough most cocktails are free to!
Food you can get pretty much anytime between 7am till 11 pm so plenty of time.
It is situauted a bit in the middle of no where but you can get a cab to anywhere in paphos for about 10 euros, there is a bus stop but it is a bit of a walk from the resort.
Basically i really enjoyed it and i would go back again.
Hope this helps you with your decision.
