Molina Lario top drawer
Spent two nights at the Molina Lario in late November 2006 and could hardly have been more impressed. The location is ideal for its downtown centrality. The room was clean, spacious and meticulously appointed. The staff were gracious and accomodating, the desk always seemed to have at least one English speaker on hand, Really not a bad thing to say about it and would highly recommend to any discerning traveler. There may be a nearby hotel or two with a higher profile in Malaga but it's difficult to believe the overall experience they... more
Great hotel, shame about the breakfast staff......
Spent 2 nights at the hotel, having gone there for work reasons. The hotel is well situated , close to all of the attractions, museums shops etc..Lovely rooms, very well equipped and comfortable.....Reception staff and bell boys very pleasant and helpful, but could not say the same about the staff in the cafe at breakfast time.....! They wander around the room, are very solicitous about keeping the bread, jams etc topped up. What a shame they ignore the guests completely. This was the only downside of an otherwise great hotel. I'd... more
Welcoming, pleasant, highly recomended
The Molina Lario was exactly as I hoped it would be. We booked two rooms online for 90 Euros each after tax, which we felt was good value. The staff were all very pleasant and spoke excellent English. The hotel was impeccible, with stylish, modern rooms. The bed / bedding was new and clean (how often I find dirty bedding, in good hotels around the world...) and an ideal location. The rooftop was a real treat, even just to watch a sunset over Malaga. The bar was pleasant, and the outdoor, heated courtyard seating was lovely for a... more
Stylish, comfortable,city centre hotel
Opted to book a deluxe room which did not disappoint. Though officially rated as a four star establishment our room certainly felt more like a five star because of the many thoughtful touches. These included an umbrella - thankfully not needed, bag for extra luggage and lovely toiletries AND - the large complimentary(we hope) brandy. The room provided simple white walls and soft furnishing which contrasted with the clean lines of the dark wood furniture including a straightlined four poster bed. There was a comfortable settee from... more
location.........location ..................
We stayed 4 nights here at start of February.........hotel was a gem, rooms excellent, spacious and clean. Minimalist white drapes but with mod cons including wi-fi for the internet dependent! Malaga is a compact centre with LOTS of small interesting shops and about as many places to eat of have chocolat y churros nearby. Close to daily market selling fruit veg and more typically Spanish carnivore specialities. Large shopping malls 10 mins away by taxi..........but why bother when shopping is more individual on your doorstep. Staff... more
Comfortable and Central
Easy to get to-number 19 bus from airport (turn right out of arrivals 30 yards) puts you 50 yards away in Paseo del Parque-cost 1 euro. Taxi 15 euros. If wish to walk, local train from airport deposits you half mile away at end of main Alemada Principal, again 1 euro. Very central to Cathedral, shops, restaurants, short distance to Picasso museum, Alcazbar fort, and main very helpful tourist office in Plaza Maritimo. Lots of marble, minimalistic decor, newly built/redone, free toiletries and slippers, bathrobe and umbrella for... more
Excellent location,average hotel
Booked the Picasso package for 2 nights at the hotel groups own web site @ 118 Euros a night (+tax) for a Standard Double. On arrival they had no record of our booking even though we had confirmation but not really a problem as they were nowhere near full. Room was about average for a modern 4 star hotel, clean and functional but no frills and no facility to make a hot drink. The bath robe was nice but why just 1 in a double room? Our package was supposed to include a free gift in the room but we did not get one (unless... more
We loved this hotel
We stayed for two nights as a weekend break and got a double room for €115 per night on the internet. It is a little difficult to find as the hotel sign is so discreet! If you are in a car just follow signs for the cathedral and the one way system will take you straight by it on your right. The AC hotel, which is more visible, is right opposite. The room was generous - high ceilings and a huge modern four poster bed as well as a sofa and good storage space. The bathroom was spacious, gleaming, and had a good assortment of... more
Great Hotel - recommend it.
Had a very comfortable stay for 2 nights in this hotel. Great location - lovely views of the Cathedral from our small balcony. Immaculately clean - marble everywhere, chrome fittings and boutique style hotel furnishings. Staff spoke English well and were very helpful. They recommended a great tapas bar just up the road for our first night (La Ribena) and even managed to arrange car hire for us at 2 hour's notice. Their outdoor pool on the roof is obviously seasonal, but fantastic views for photos. Two other recommendations nearby... more
Slightly disappointed
My wife and I and another couple stayed for 4 nights at the Molina Lario from 3rd January 2007. I booked it purely on the basis of the reviews on this site and initially, I was very pleased. However, we did have a problem with the heating, which left a bit of a sour taste when we checked out and it is on that basis I have given it a low score. The location and the hotel spec is excellent and I don’t think I can add anything to what the other reviewers have mentioned before. It looks good and is fitted out with quality furnishings etc.... more
