Hotel Miramare

We began our 11 night Italian honeymoon here in Positano. It is a nice and small hotel with amazing hosts who are ready to help you plan a trip or find a place to dine. The views are great from the balcony (every room has one) and the breakfast nook overlooking the coastline was sublime. Be ready to walk when you arrive! This was a perfect spot for those who want the views but not the costs of a place like the Sireneuse. Save your money--have antipasto and wine there and enjoy your time at Albergo Miramare!!

You need to visit Positano at least once in your life. It's quaint, romantic and fun. Three days was good for us, four days and you start to run out of things to do. If you go to Positano, stay at the Hotel Miramare! First and foremost...Rosita (the daytime manager) and her staff will truly treat you like you are the only one in the hotel. With her unique caring spirit she will make your stay very comfortable. You will walk away from the hotel knowing that you've made a great friend. After reading nothing but raves about this hotel on this site and on Fodors.com message boards, we decided to spulrge on Room #210 for the last 4 nights of our honeymoon. We were 100% satisfied with our decision, and would stay there again in a heartbeat. The hotel is in a perfect location. Yes, it's up about 209 steps from the beach and shopping areas, but that didn't bother us. It was about halfway up the hill, it seemed. O.K. I think I may be a bit controversial on this one but I have to say I really wasn't overly impressed with a) Positano and b) the value for money you get at the Miramare. Lovely, charming hotel and hospitable staff. The room was clean (apart from a little mould on the bathroom ceiling) The view is truly amazing from the balcony (this is why the premium is so high) but the hotel and Positano just seems like a Theme Park for the rich and classless. We stayed 4 nights at the Miramare and it was a wonderful hotel. Nice atmosphere, great room and the breakfast buffet was enjoyable in the morning. It's not a luxury hotel, but the service and beautiful details and views definitely make up for it. Positano on the other hand is nice if you stay 2 days, it get's kind of boring after several days, with only tourist shops and overpriced restaurants serving mediocre food and we didn't even find the service especially friendly for that matter! My wife and I have traveled extensively but would rate this superb small hotel among the best ever. The staff couldn't be more helpful. The setting so romantic and charming. Go - you will love it.

add my two cents of support to these other voices of praise. This hotel hit the mark on every score. The service was perfect, our room was impeccable, the breakfast room was gorgeous, Rosita at the front desk and all the other staff were helpful and warm....it was like coming home to a little slice of paradise. Their free boat trip was the highlight of our stay. Positano itself is for sun baking and shopping lovers, and was very crowded, and we would have been happy just to enjoy our hotel room and balcony!

My husband and I just returned from Positano. What an incredibly beautiful place! We stayed at Albergo Miramare. The hotel was fantastic. Our room (204) had a little balcony with table/chairs that overlooked the beach below,the town above, and the sea beyond. Breathtaking. All of the staff at the Miramare were exceptional, but Rosita really makes the hotel. She is so incredibly kind and helpful! Our two favorite dining experiences were Da Vincenzo, located on the street just above the hotel. Very friendly, fresh seafood, reasonably priced.... more

We have just returned from a long w/e stay at the Miramare hotel in Positano and we have only positive comments to make about it. We stayed at the annex at room 219, air-conditioned and over looking the bay. The room is large, standard double with walk in cupboard and an en-suit bathroom which is rather small but very adequate. We absolutely loved the balcony. Breakfast is another great experience. You sit on a terrace overlooking the bay and get the perfect coffee one could hope for, first thing in the morning. We have just returned from a week in Italy, 5 nights of which we stayed at the Miramare. I wish it could have been longer. We arrived in Positano by private driver, and were dropped off at the reserved parking area for the Miramare and met by a porter who carried our large suitcase down our first set of steps (do not underestimate all the advice about steps in Positano - there are so many!).
