Hotel Macia Real de la Alhambra

Stayed in Granada to see the Alhambra and this hotel could not have been a better choice. It is at the bottom of the Alhambra, less than a five minute cab ride to the Alhambra gate. The hotel is very clean, ultra modern, with a pool and two great restaurants. The breakfast was 8 euros but is excellent and with a wide variety. Also, Santiago at the front desk speaks great English and was extremely helpful. Booked my room for about 70 US dollars a night which was a steal in my opinion. We only had one nite but it was great. So conveniently located to Alhambra (its a very long walk but doable). The hotel is spanking new and the front desk friendly and knowledgeable. It is a 0ne Euro bus trip into the center of town and about a 6 euro cab ride. The location is a bit isolated and as noted above very convenient if Ahlhambra is your destination. Our room had great terrace and the bath all the amenities of a 5 star hotel. I paid 60 euro. Highly recommend!

We stayed at the Macia Real de la Alhambra for 3 nights, the last night being my birthday. We booked a suite as it was a special occasion and the room and bedroom were well funished and had a good terrace. The staff from Reception to Restaurant and Bar Staff were all welcoming and friendly and did all they could to help us. Although the hotel is on the outskirts of Granada there is a bus stop into town just by the hotel and the fare is just 1 euro and also the tour bus has a stop just up the hill towards the Alhambra. This Hotel is excellent. I´ve stayed there with my wife from the 3rd to 5th Oct The staff at the reception was efficient and very nice, we had no problems with our car they have a good garage with lots of places. The room was spacious, with an excellent bathroom, full of light and the decoration was of the "minimalist" type. The hotel is located 2km outside of Granada centre on a main road called Ronda Sur. Easy to find and no problem with noise due to D/G and A/C. This is a proper 4 star hotel, on par with our Crowne Plazas and the like. Although it is situated outside of the city centre (30 min. walk and no great sights) buses are frequent and taxis are cheap enough. Taxis to Puerta Real (centre) cost 5E and 4E to the Alhambra. Stayed two nights. Out of the way, about 30 min from the center by bus (with traffic); a bit difficult to find at night the first time (stop no. 6 of C/de La Sierra I think, just after the bridge, on your lefhandise coming from the center). This was one of the best hotels I have stayed in - and I've stayed in a few. The room was large, comfortable and looked great! The beds were extremely comfy, it was very clean. We paid extra for breakfast but it was very good value and there was a lot of choice. The front of house staff made the stay as the guy spent a lot of time explaining things to us and meant we got the most out of a short stay to the city. We stayed here for one night only, primarily to visit the Alhambra the next morning before travelling to Orgiva for a week's vacation. The hotel was very easy to find off the highway - we were so surprised and it was excellent to be able to 'abandon' the car in the underground car park and walk/use public transit everywhere. We'd heard about trying to drive around the city, and once we witnessed the gridlock, it was nice to know we'd made the right decision and left the car at the hotel. Very modern clean and stylish hotel. Rooms finished to one of the highest standards we have experienced at this price. Beds very comfortable. Underground carpark for €8 per day was helpful. We got a bit caught out by the local way of eating later at night (after 8.30pm at most places) and had to wait in a state of near starvation for dinner to be served. Me and my wife spent two nights in this hotel during our visit to Granada. I choose the Real de La Alhambra after having read the other reviews and considering the attractive rate for a 4-stars hotel (60 EUR/night).
