Hotel Helang Langkawi

We stayed at the Helang for 2 nights during the October Raya break. The room was huge, with a big window overlooking the fields across the troad. The bathrooms were also clean and a decent size. My only gripes were the hot water, or lack thereof.. and the breakfast was very mediocre, but expected at this price range. We would stay there again for an early flight, as is very close to the airport, but certainly not for anything else.

Stayed in Hotel Helang for one nite. It is only 3 mins walk from the airport. Loved the room and view. The rooms are sound proof and you would not be able to hear any noise from outside. Don't be deceived by the old and shabby exterior of the hotel. The rooms are totally in contrast with the exterior. The rooms are great and well-maintained. Look very new and clean. For the price of the hotel, I was very pleasantly surprised with the amount of space in the rooms and the quality of the furnishings. The bathroom has a bathtub that you could swim in with an adjustable shower and a separate sleek shower stall. The sink and counter were a solid sheet of glass which was very striking. We were forced to stay at the hotel as firefly had failed to successfully contact us about the change in our flights, so we had to spend an extra night in langkawi, and booked into the hotel as it's next to the airport. We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. For what we paid, it was extremely reasonable. Rooms are big, bathroom is nice. Can't comment on facilities as only stayed for one night. I was residing there just recently and I was shocked to see that the rooms were huge. The toilets had a seprate shower glass cubicle and a bath was big. In terms of room's cleanliness and all, this place did its job. I cannot complain about the room because it was good. However, room service is terribly slow. There seems to be this relaxed pace at which everyone adheres to. There is no sense of urgency even though I specifically asked for the order to be hurried. We stayed in Helang Hotel in May 2007. It was right next to the airport so it was very convenient. The building was comparable to a nice 4 or 5 star hotel. Unfortunately it was quiet and not very happening. Maybe it was not a peak season. The staff were helpful and friendly, but the room I would say was very average. There were only 3 free-to-air tv channels and supposedly 3 cable tv channels. Most of the time we're there 2 of the cable channels never worked. great hotel but for the lack of warm water in afternoon. apparently that's only a problem in our wing. the warm water is transferred through some pipes from the other wing and cools in the process....that's their explanation. but doesn't explain why it is warm in the evenings....i think they only switch on boiler in evening. this is not acceptable practice for a 4 star hotel. but otherwise hotel is lovely, huge rooms, with separate bath and shower. although next to airport, i can honestly say i've never heard any planes.

Our flight arrived from Singapore at 8pm, instead of transferring to our 5 star resort we decided to stay at the Helang for one night. The rooms are big and clean, we got an excellent online deal, a good buffet breakfast was included in the the deal. The staff were friendly and the hotel is walking distance from the airport.

My family & I went to Langkawi on the 10th Feb 06 and we stayed at Helang Hotel for 2 nights. I like the hotel very much! The rooms are big & very well decorated. The staffs are helpful & friendly. We truly enjoyed our stay there.

This hotel is right next to Langkawi Int Airport, don't let this put you off as all the windows in the building have the thickest glass I have ever seen, you do not hear any aircraft noise, even from the pool area as the runway is quite a distance from the hotel. We have stayed here a couple of times, mainly for convenience. The first time was when we were married and I had to keep going into Kuah to make arrangements.
