Hotel Garibaldi

It was a relief to find this lovely, newly renovated, clean hotel in what is a very polluted and dirty city. The free parking at the hotel was a fantastic bonus, no other hotel we looked at had this facitily, and certainly not for free. And be warned that parking is quite a nightmare in Palermo! This is a wonderful modern hotel located in the Politeama district of Palermo. It fronts on to a busy street. This street is loud and if you're not used to big city noises ask to be put in the back of the hotel as it can be a little loud. With the windows to the quaint (and much used by us) balcony closed you will not have a problem. Staff is ok, nothing really good or bad just seem to go about their job. There's nothing wrong with this place, except for two things: First, it's very difficult to find, there's a small sign to the right of the building, but nothing on the front of it to tell you you've arrived. We arrived in a huge storm, with rain falling from the sky in sheets - we had to remain in our car, round the back in their own (free) car-park, until it eased off. We liked this hotel better than we liked Palermo. It was clean, modern, spacious and quiet. The front desk staff were helpful with restaurant suggestions and it was nice to have free internet access in the lobby. Our only complaint was that it took us at least 20 minutes to get our car out of onsite parking because it was totally blocked in by other cars. The hotel is in an old building that has been completely renovated and offers modern, large rooms in excellent taste. Our room was absolutely quiet despite the city centre location. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Central situation .City tour bus stop at doorway but many of the sights could easily be reached on foot. Rooms spacious and immaculate with balcony overlooking tree lined street. Traffic noise early morning hardly noticed in most comfortable bed. Not the easiest place to find by car given one way streets and traffic. Free car park an absolute bonus. Excellent restaurants within short walk.

I stayed there two times in a week: friendly stuff-apart ffrom the guy at the check out on 21th/7/09 and the 25th/7/09. Cleanliness, design, perfect location in the city center, free internet, free parking in the city center (valuable!!!), perfect breakfast, not in quantity but in quality, spacious rooms, fully renovated. You cannot easily see the hotel's name from via Emerico Amari. Value for money (I booked through bookings.com)

It may be surprising that I am rating the Hotel Garibaldi so highly given a couple of glitches -- when I arrived, I discovered the hotel had lost my reservation (luckily they had a room free anyway), and I was also rather surprised by the emptimess of the huge room -- there was a big space where a sofa and coffee table is shown in the advertizing brochure. Myself and my partner spent a week at the Hotel Garibaldi and were certainly not disappointed. The hotel has recently been renovated so all is very modern and clean. Our room was huge with huge windows overlooking the Teatro Politeama and a great jacuzzi bath!! The staff were very friendly and helpful and there was free wifi. This was a lovely hotel in the centre of Palermo. Unlike many other hotels in Palermo it had free parking which we needed. It looks like the hotel had recently been renovated and was very nice inside. Free internet for anyone needing access or travelling with a laptop. The breakfast was good and service friendly.
