wonderful little hotel
My husband, teenage daughter and I spent three nights in two tiny but charming rooms at the end of a private corridor. (Apparently most rooms are larger; these were the only two side-by-side rooms they had left when we made our reservation one month before our trip.) Showers were preposterously small and slippery, but everything else was great. Nice decor, friendly staff (but don't take their restaurant advice -- they steered us to the one bad meal we had in 2 weeks in Italy), terrific breakfasts in a delightful, cozy, open-air patio.... more
Loved the Flora
We arrived at the Hotel Flora at 2:00 AM in the morning when we couldn't get into our bed and breakfast we had booked because they weren't answering their door (although I had told them we would be getting in at that time). Thank goodness they had one double room left and were so kind and attentive at checking us in at that time. It was so quaint, and garden was gorgeous. The staff were all absolutely amazing. The location is perfect. The rooms were small but very clean and nicely decorated. We would highly reccomend this hotel!
Great if you are into old, antiques, "charming"
A cute, charming, unique hotel tucked in a fabulous location in Venice. The room was ample for three people and the bathroom was super tiny. The staff was gracious and it was picturesque. I prefer more modern amenities and a cleaner look so next time in Venice I would choose the hotel (4 star) one block away that has a clean, sleek, modern look inside. I like to visit historical places but don't like to live in them....
Horrible Stay............
To start, I was bitten by bed bugs....The room we stayed in was very small, dark and depressing. The shower was connected to the toilet which did not function properly....I could not take a shower.....I would give this hotel a D and would not advise anyone to stay here....We completely overpaid for this room...Do not stay here unless you want to be ripped off, dissapointed and bitten by bed bugs!!!!!
Wonderful hotel - the best bargain in Venice
This is a charming hotel - the best value in Venice. I think even if I could have afford the Danielli or Gritti, I would return to Hotel Flora. As a first time visitor (and single traveller) to Venice, the hotel staff was very helpful in making dinner and concert recommendations and reservations. The single room I had was cozy, but comfortable and the housekeeping service was excellent. I was in Venice in mid-March so the the courtyard wasn't used for breakfast but the breakfast room was very nice. Before you go, get good directions from the... more
Tiny Rm, But Loved the Flora
Room and bath were tiny (as all over Italy) but spotless. I loved my single overlooking the courtyard at the Flora, waking to birds every morning. The location near San Marco and alot of boutiques is superior. Decor is old-fashioned and charming. Service was fine; I asked for and received wakeup calls. When I asked not to be disturbed one morning when I was under the weather, everyone allowed me to get my rest. Breakfast is average, but OK. I loved sipping a cocktail in the afternoon in the courtyard with all its flowers and... more
Adjust your expectations
Small, tucked away, but near the sights, the hotel is charming, has a lovely garden used for breakfast's etc. Be prepared however that this is Venice. Rooms are small, almost Monastic is character, no view except the next building and very expensive. However, hopefully you're not in Venice to spend you day in the room.
Good Hotel
The hotel Flora was a nice hotel located in about a 3 minute walk to/from San Marco Square. Our room was for 3 adults and was pretty spacious. The main bed was two twins put together with another twin put into the room. It worked fine. The bathroom was OK and our view was of the courtyard which is quite pretty. I would suggest asking for a courtyard view room as well since a view of a cannel is only 40 to 50 feet wide. There were no suprises and the staff was friendly and helpful, just understand Venice is expensive in all respects.
A great stay at Hotel Flora
We found Hotel Flora excellent. The room was on the small size but it was nicely furnished and had everything we needed. The location was perfect and the staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful, they also spoke excellent English. The courtyard was just lovely and a great way to start the day having breakfast with all the greenery and birdlife before hitting the streets and joining the throngs of tourists! Would definitely stay there again.
charming little oasis
With the high prices and small rooms that many of Venices hotels offer, the Flora was a pleasant suprise. The location is great, and the concierge was helpful and accommodating. The rooms are small, but charming, with Venetian glass sconces and chandelliers. The terrace outside offers wonderful tranquility and the breakfast room if you choose to eat inside is cozy as well. We would definitely stay there again.
