Find more for your money elsewhere in Venice!
My family (1 senior, 3 adults) just spent 3 nights at Ca' San Polo in Venice. Good things first...the room we had was cute and cozy. The bathroom was clean, and the included breakfast is good/standard for Italy. Note: If you like coffee/espresso, go elsewhere...they have a self-serve, instant espresso/cappucino machine that makes horrible drinks with the press of a button. Now the bad things...We were a group of four and requested 1 double/queen bed and two twin size beds. Ca' San Polo agreed to the arrangement at a rate of 700... more
Great little hotel with lots of character in good location
We spent a long weekend at this hotel in October and in my opinion it is a great little hotel with lots of character. On approach it seems very unexciting, one door with a buzzer up a small side street. However once you go in and up to the first floor reception you see its real character. Staff are friendly and the rooms are very well decorated and have great facilities for its class. Our ensuite was of a very good size. Its very quiet location but at the same time near to some good restaurants, and once you realise where you are going... more
Lovely spot
This small hotel is located in an ideal location, within 2 minutes walk from the St. Thomas vaparetto stop and 5 minutes walk to Rialto. Having read the previous posts I had expected it to be a lot further and was delighted it was as close. There are many inexpensive but quality eateries in te vicinity. Back to the hotel and we found that the service was friendly albeit a little strange (they asked us to hand in the keycard for the room each time we left as "there is a lot of water in venice and people get wet and if people get wet, so... more
Location, Value, Comfort, Welcoming
We arrived, like most people into Venice, tired and hot. When we arrived at the hotel we were informed that they did not have the room we had reserved because of some problem with an existing guest (I assume that the prior occupants of our room had refused to leave for some reason!) anyway, we were escorted to one of the manager's apartments close by and stayed there for our visit .... so while I can't comment on the hotel rooms etc I can say that the staff are extremely accommodating and helpful. It was our son's 12th birthday and we had... more
Fantastic little Hotel ...
Although not the easiest place to find (we were looking for a flag or a sign outside the door - not a door mat!) - [HINT - the Hotel does have signs showing directions on many street corners - look UP] - the accommodation and location were SUPERB! We had emailed the Hotel many times and got prompt, polite and helpful information on each occasion. On entering the front door - you climb a set of stairs to the very small Reception area. Our rooms (10 and 12) were on this floor and Fabio had upgraded us to a Junior Suite to go with the Superior... more
What a wonderful hotel
We got back last night and I just had to let you all know what a wonderful hotel this was. We booked a superior double room for a long weekend in Venice as we wanted to be fairly central but not in any noisy parts of the city. We arrived having found it quite easily (thanks to my partners great sense of direction - Venice is a place where you see people turning at the end of streets completely puzzled and looking for their maps). Our room was on the 4th floor and we were very impressed with the furniture, the bathroom and how... more
Excellent value for money in a good location
We stayed here in March 2004 and I can't recommend it highly enough. As other reviewers state, it is difficult to find initially but when you do locate it you will find you are in a good central location with easy access to the Grand Canal and the Rialto bridge. Venice Island is a small city and easy to walk around (or get a vaporetto) so you are never far from anywhere. The area this hotel is located within has many good value places to eat and drink in the evening and does not feel unsafe to walk around at night. Our room was very... more
Nice family run hotel
It is hidden away but it's not far from the main Paizzale Roma/Rialto route. We enjoyed exploring the back streets around it. 3 minutes walk from San Toma waterbus stop, 20 minutes walk from Railto. We had a room on the top floor with views over the rooftops. The room itself was clean, tidy and well presented. The staff were friendly and attentive. Decorated in burgundy and gold this was a nice functional hotel. Breakfast was a simple continental affair. We had the obligatory tiny shower in the en-suite but it's been the same in all... more
Fantastic find in Venice!
We booked a superior double room for our honeymoon directly with the hotel after coming across it on the venere website. The Mioni family that run this inviting and charming B&B are extremely friendly and very eager to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Fabio, one of the managers, even threw in a bottle of champagne for our honeymoon. Most hotels in Europe have notoriously small bathrooms, but the bathroom in the Ca'san Polo was extremely spacious and modern. The hotel is located on a quiet sidestreet and at night, you really are... more
Not a Bad Place, Once You Find It
Stayed Here 26-29 March 2004. This hotel was only 5 months old when I stayed, and was hard to find because none of the locals had heard of it yet. Once you know where it is , it's easy to find again. It's right in the middle of Venice in the San Polo area, near Campo San Polo, a large piazza. The room was nice but quite small, as expected for Venice. The bathroom was usable, but the shower was a bit of a challenge, my elbows bumping the shower door and wall. Generally, the neighborhood is quiet, but my room faced a narrow alley that was busy... more
