good value for Venice
from A TripAdvisor Member
I was there during Christmas 1996. Of the hotels and b&b's I stayed in, it was the most memorable on that trip. I agree with one writer, stay in the annex. The only fault I can imagine had nothing at all to do with the hotel--it flooded that week! And it was bitterly cold! Then again, that meant it seemed like we had the run of the place, including even the most touristy sites in Venice. Now if I recommend some restaurants with the same enthusiasm. One is almost of the mind to recommend buying their food at the local store!
Go for the Annex

We stayed here for 2 nights near the end of May. We stayed in the Annex with friends in the 2 bedroom suite with bathroom. The rooms were really big and nicely furnished. One of the rooms had a fantastic canal view. The bathroom was large and modern. The location was brilliant, close to the Rialto bridge and a short walk through the shops to St Marks Square, we definately felt amongst it.
Free Wireless Internet By Accident
from A TripAdvisor Member
June 8-10 Stay I opened my lap top and got a welcome although accidental invitation to use a wireless net work-- free. Apparently I was staying in room 2 above the hotel clerks desk and the hotel uses a wireless connection for its computer. I am not sure it works in other rooms but you can easily bring your machine to the looby and crank it up! Good surfing!!
Great place to stay in the heart of Venice !!
from RoamingMan1
We were in Venice for 4 night at the beginning of June, 2004. I found the Hotel Bernardi to be just great. Venice is smaller than you think and the hotel is only 10 minutes to the Rialto bridge and maybe 15 minutes to San Marco Square. We had no problems visiting all of the sights of Venice by foot. The rooms are small but clean and perfectly nice in the main part of the hotel. Our room # 10 had cool exposed beams in the ceiling, two windows open to the city and a bathroom with shower. If you can get a room in the annex it is...

i would stay there again

I liked my stay here, the location is nice. Not in the san marco area but in the rialto which is more mellow. Near some nice places to eat. try the one in the same alley as the hotel. the room are very clean and comfortable. My only desire is that their breakfast was more that what it is but that may just be the way it is in venice. I think the whole city may just eat a rool in the morning and call it good. look at as a reason to stop early and have some cappicino and a another roll some where else.
Not bad private bath rooms.
from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed there April 2-5, 2004 on room 226 with private bathroom. Found the place to be very clean and a nice location is you want to experience the quite Venice that many tourists miss. Leo and the staff was very friendly and the chicetta bar in front had great cod dishes. The room had exposed beams on the ceiling and a large comfortable bed. Wake up each morning by the church bells seen from the room window. At 90 euros/night I think it was a great place for the money. The area and room felt safe and clean. I didn't pay extra for...

Disappointing
from A TripAdvisor Member
Compared to other places we stayed in Italy at similar prices, this place was a dump. While clean, the room was tiny with poor lighting and no TV, towel rack, or phone. We were told the bathroom was shared by only a couple of rooms, but there was a line waiting to use the shower in the morning! The staff was sullen, the breakfast roll was boring compared to brioche we had received at other similar priced B&B's, and the room was dreary. It is well located, just about in the center of Venice.
Ask for the Annex: Unbelievable for families
from Marigot1
We just returned from Venice, Florence and Rome. As a party of 3 (parents and a 16 year old son), we were looking for accomodations that would hold 3 people. Friends recommended this small hotel near C'Doro, and this board suggested requesting the annex. Great Idea! We had the room that spans a small back canal,- Unbelievable value for the price. It was an apartment, with hall entrance, separate bath, one small bedroom (which they closed off for us) and a large bedroom holding a king bed and a double, which was right over the canal....

Great Price But Only So-So
from Available
I stayed here at the height of Carnevale, Feb. 13-16. I had booked months ahead of time and, to their credit, the hotel did not jack up the prices for Carnevale. I had a single w/o bath for 35 Euros/night, taxes and simple Italian breakfast included. The price was probably hard to beat. The location is also pretty convenient, about five minutes from the Rialto. The down side was that they put me in a ground floor room. While the streets outside are quiet, there is no soundproofing in what must be paper-thin walls of the rooms. I could...

great price
from A TripAdvisor Member
Everyone on the staff was very friendly. My room was miniscule but fine for just one person. The location is perfect, near to everything. I was on the ground floor so it got noisy during the day being right next to the lobby but complete silence at night which was great. I had no trouble finding the hotel as I had exact directions from Frommers Guidebook. It just took a while to find the correct vaporetto after getting off the bus from the airport. Only cost 3 euros for the bus, but 5 euros for the one way ride on the vaporetto. The...
